Hedwig: even if it is fanfic... they'd have to have Bungie.org's permission to host it, setting up an alias on one of their servers, uploading content... Louis knows what's going on, I'm sure of it...

Thats what I mean. The site is either Bungie or someone impersonating Bungie and I don't think Louis would let a Fan do that on his site. Either way in the end we will know, if it is a fanfic they will want credit after they are done and confess.

Check out the source on this page meta names very similar.

one interesting thing i missed that this other guy mentioned (but not how i was thinking) - was that there is a level in marathon called G-4 sunbathing. (sunbathing is mentioned in the terminals)

interesting.

Wow you need to go back and read the pages again, I didn't start any arguements. I'm sorry but if you see no reason to start a new thread based on what we know, then don't cry when somebody repeats something. Nobody wants to read through all of these posts. Yeah people do have different personalities, mine includes common sense.

Odd. You know, goading people seems is indeed a way to start an argument, and yeah, you have been. You know, like when you were being an ass to Stich. Or those sidebar comments like, "There is no such thing as evoultion." End post. No explanation. Make it sound like anyone who thinks it is simple. Ironic huh? (If you want to take that issue up with me, I will simply reveal your ignorance. No worries. But we're not going to do that here. We can do that over the private messaging system if you like, but not here.)

And you know what? Reading summaries of the Endiku terminals won't really help. And you know why? Because they're not going to cover forty pages of rejected theories. Are they going to talk about those thngs that were simply stupid things people said. Because those are going to keep coming. So why don't you use some of that common sense and realize, yeah, what you're trying to prevent isn't really going to be all that helped all that much with a summary. No easy way around reading the forty pages. But oh yeah, starting a new thread that links a really large amount of info (that doesn't even cover enough), that no one will really read much of (There were people at page seven saying they won't read all of this thread.) even if it is provided for them. That'll solve something that isn't really a problem.

Have I done anything other than be helpful? Cry? Have I had a problem with anyone saying stuff four times? No, actually I told them that the idea had been done before and explained why it wasn't like that. I've been nothing but -blam!- helpful. I answer people because they deserve a response. If it bothered me, I wouldn't answer. I would take time to explain it.

If you attempt to repsons to this post, I will not answer. I don't really give a damn, so if you want to be a jerk, go right ahead. But no argument here. Feel free to take this up on the private messaging service, since that's the only suitable place for it. I'll be happy to argue there.

here is another quote from a marathon terminal "kill your television"... it is an interesting read.

---

I have been Roland, Beowulf, Achilles, Gilgamesh.
I have been called a hundred names and will be called a
thousand more before the world goes dim and cold.
I am hero.

--

many have speculated who wrote this in the terminal. was it durnaldal, thoth (ancient sp't AI) or who? Most people believe that (and if you follow the marathon story) - it was durandal - and really the marathon story was a trilogy were you were being ordered around by a rampant AI who eventually dies/ reconstitutes him self with the Jjaro (more or less the equivelant of the forerunners).

just some more random thoughts from me.

someone mentioned that the internal transport system is the same thing 343 used...

I wonder why that was brought up by the captain (author), I think it might play a role in future terminals... in this terminal JD is going to an elevator and the captain won't send back up because they haven't figured the transport system out yet... I think that the author is introducing the transport system now for a reason, if the author just wanted JD alone there are many simpler things that could have happened...

Honestly, I am having mixed feelings if it is fanfic or not. It seems like the author is being too out forward. Whether or not it is fanfic. I know that this is a lot different than the Cortana letters. The Cortana letters were very more poetic and I think that the maker of the letters was much smarter. They were more of a "guess who this is" than a story, like this one. The Cortana Letters went very deep. And had a lot of meaning for how short they were. This is a long story with only some "wonder what that means" stuff. I am not trying to be negative in anyway. I really do want these to be more than just fanfic. I just need more..

Umm no, educate yourself. I never said anything to stitch untill he called me arrogant, for punching holes in his 'theory'. Like I said go back and read the posts.

You're going to reveal my ignorance? Just to let you know I study evolution, I have to, I'm a biology major. Don't misquote me, get your facts straight before threatening to reveal my 'ignorance'.

You know your right, a summary would not go back over 40 pages of nonsense, why the hell would anybody in their right mind want to do that? It would state everything we know for now, and we can build from that, as to update the summary. Why would anybody want to read a bunch of false theories? I think you really should go read his summary, maybe you are confused as to what a summary is? Nobody is reading all these pages, they are a waste of space.

Saying things like you should go back and read the pages isnt' helpfull, it's wishfull thinking

I hope you don't respond, I don't know why you jumped my ass in the first place. All I did was state the obvious, which judging by your research skills, you wouldn't know if it smacked you in the face.

Fade to Black:

First off, these terminals go pretty damn deep...

Also the suspected source of the Cortana letters Nathan Bitner no longer works for Bungie, which would explain why they aren't the same. We probably haven't recieved as much poetic stuff recently because a good part of the story is out, and there is a need for answers... however once JD tries to return Enkidu to his rightful place things are likely to get a whole lot more metaphoric...

Yes, I agree. I think it's important that we stick to topic, so let's say quits to the "fighting", I guess you'd call it. We're interested here, in all the wonders of Enkidu, not about anyone's real level of intelligence. All levels are welcome here. If people want to read the 50 pages, let them. If not, fill them in on any questions they ask. And be polite! Thank you!

AUGGGGG!!!! Alright, last 3 pages have had a lot of reposts and stuff, so here are some basic facts:

THIS IS NOT 343 GS who is writing the letters!!!

THERE ARE OTHER HALOS!!!

Bring The Noise, you are starting arguments and posting spam and goading people, please stop, this thread is not for that!!! Get lost if you aern't going to contribute!!!

Also, if someone tears apart/dissproves your theories, that is what this thread is for, coming up with ideas until you come up with one that can't be proven wrong!

That being said, no hard feelings anyone. Just want to prevent another 3 pages of stuff that is generally crap from happening again. Keep on speculatin! ;-)

Edit:
Sorry didn't see the last two posts, anyway, what the other guy said, if you want to flame use the PM system not the thread! SO HAVE FUN GODDAMMIT!!! lol :D

I agree with you, Fade, but for the one thing that is different here - with the Cortana letters, they came out before anyone knew anything about Halo, at all. Now that we know about it, it makes more sense (from Bungie's stated goals of world domination and their habit/tendency to always have good stories) to have these terminals - we have some information, but there is still a lot left to be figured out. Also, it's been a while since we've seen Enkidu do anything or say anything poetic - the terminal "Allow me to introduce myself" was like the Cortana letters. I have a feeling we might see more of that in the future.

But one thing I'm unsure on your theory, is that if that Forerunner want to use the Flood as a weapon, as you said, why keep them on Halo and a risk to themselves as well as send the across the universe to some desolate planet that has no defence systems (well not to the magnitude of Halo anway) that would be able to withstand a major rebelion against the Forerunner by the Flood. Unless the the Forerunner had trained the Flood to not harm the Forerunner but only their enemies. That way they could train and engineer all the Flood they would want without having a risk of being infected. But if that's the case why not just trigger Halo and destroy their enemies (whoever they may be) with a single press of a button...

Why keep them on Halo despite the risk? 1) The Flood weren't really a risk or 2) the same reason we keep samples of Smallpox, Anthrax, the Plague, etc. in labs across the nation.
Why also have them on Frigid without apparant defenses? 1) There may have been defenses before or 2) the same reason CDC labs containing the aforementioned strains aren't guarded by military forces.
Why not use Halo as the weapon to kill all enemies? Probably the same reason we don't like to use nukes.

In my opinion, the Flood are a perfect weapon. They take over all of the biomass and alter ecosystems, so any upstart species will not only be wiped out by the Flood warriors and infection itself, but starved to death as all of their food is infected and then also killed by the environment since we know that the Flood can alter the atmosphere. Entire planets could be rendered uninhabitable. Then, left on their own, the Flood starve to death (which is the driving principle behind Halo right? Kill the Flood's food source to kill the Flood). So, the Forerunner march in on empty planets and establish their own climates controls (I think the blue beam towers, hence the higher oxygen around that structure according to Enkidu and the lusher flora of the game level Halo). Using Halo as the weapon instead of the Flood would render planets that didn't need to be cleansed of life barren. Imagine a prehistoric Earth to the Forerunner, no real competition right, no need to kill everything. But then imagine right next door is modern-day Earth with modern-day humans on it. The Forerunner don't need to kill the lifeforms on prehistoric Earth, but they do need to kill the advanced life on modern-Earth, so they put Flood on one not the other. If they used Halo, everything dies, and that's just a waste. So, to sum it up nicely, why not use Halo? The Flood are more targetable, like using a smart bomb on the command center instead of carptet bombing an entire city.

it's not a fixed update time, it varies a little... my experience has been that an update is most likely to appear between 6 - 10AM (forum time) which in my part of the world is before I wake up (unless I stay up real late)... but occasionaly they'll be posted in the afternoon/evening (forum time). I might be wrong about this, I'm just saying it the way I see it... but you could always skim through the thread and note when each terminal is noticed...

The thread, as I see it, is meant for theories regarding what the Enkidu reveals without directly revealing. So, since everyone is clamoring to be back on topic, let's get back to speculative theory, shall we?

Who is John Doe? Obviously, the author left out chapter i (the first introduction) so that at the end they can reveal who we are watching this whole time. Some people have been worried that the Flood presence is a reason to think Bungie ran out of ideas, to these people I want to ask WHY AREN'T YOU EXAMINING OTHER FACETS OF THE STORY?! Not yelling, just emphasizing. So, we know that our enemies are Covenant and Flood, and potentially something else (the source of the cadavers, the mysterious quakes). But who are our allies? Obviously, we already have the Master Chief returning, Bungie has revealed the ODST, and of course we have the Marines. But why is John Doe so special? No other Spartans exist, theoretically, and all other allies are revealed by Bungie. John Doe, IMHO, is still worth investigating and may potentially be an ally of considerable value in Halo 2.

If the Forerunner AI can take over Enkidu, and we all know that 343 survived Halo, will Cortana be in jeopardy in Halo 2? Conversely, if Enkidu is going rampant by attempting to interface with Forerunner technology, and Cortana already interfaced with Forerunner tech, will Cortana become an enemy to us? The subtleties of the AI issue have not been examined but they should be.

As far as we can tell, the humans and the Covenant have only had limited engagements and how many humans had to be killed before landing on Frigid? Why do the Covenant keep sending reinforcements? Is there more Flood elsewhere destroying them? Are Enkidu's Sentinels that damned good all of a sudden? Or, are there more Forerunner weapons/defenses on Frigid that we haven't seen yet?

Food for thought. It's late so I won't do the thinking just yet.

To me, it seems like an encounter with another halo, or some other halo-like artifact of the forunner.

As far as I can tell, a group of humans OTHER than those on the Pillar of Autumn came in contact with the Flood on an artifact, but Im not sure if this was before or after Halo.

Confusing, isnt it?
