Subject: Enkidu - Cortana Letters Revisted?

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

Well, I must say, hats off to you steve. Fooled all of us. 2000+ posts I think. Kudos to you man, bestr fan-fic I've ever seen.

Dude, this would blow if it is fanfic.

I came across some more info just in case this is not fanfic. Humbaba is a god of nature. Nature god, assigned by Enlil to oversee the cedar forest, slain by Gilgamesh and Enkidu. He is also called Huwawa.

Wait it is fanfic...good job man, Mr. Nym: http://carnage.bungie.org/haloforum/halo.forum.pl?profile=ant on+p.+nym++aka+steve+

Great job Steve. They were interesting letters, and a lot of fun to analise while waiting for Halo 2. The plot was at least as good as any of the Halo books, if not better. Who cares if it was fan fic? It was still great. I just hope Bungie will do this on their own for all of their future games. Who knows, it could become something of a tradition! :-)

Holy-blam-! There are over 1825 posts!!! I think we have the record for Bungie.net!!!!!

no dude there is a thread in The Flood with nearly 4500 posts

Did you have something constructive to say, like about 1600 out of the 1800 posts in this thread, or were you just being a wise-acre like 2000 out of 2500 posts over on the one in New Mombassa?

-- Steve points out that there was some pretty sharp analysis in this thread... folks would do well to read what they did here over those three weeks and try to use similar techniques today.

Very nice job with the Enkidu letters, Steve.

Thank you. They were a lot of fun to write (even the parts where it felt like I was swallowing a live cat) and I hope they were good practice for the current little puzzle for everyone.

-- Steve's glad for the perspective it gave him on the nature of puzzles, and is now pondering how to put it to good use.

I don't want to burst your bubble... but this thread had 1825+ posts before the Flood forum had even been opened. Most of the posts were also relevant, thought provoking and insightful... not spam. Remember... "Quality not Quantity".

Man, this thread was a lot of fun. There were maybe 10 people anylizing those letters, anf by gum, by golly, we figured out a lot of stuff in 'em. But with the Ilovebees thread, we just have a bunch of fans going rampant and not really much analyzing (I don't mean to insult anyone, but when a thead grows to 4000 post in about 24 hours, it's not cool headed research. Besides, Inoticed a lot of people discussing very old stuff 100 pages in, and the same stuff again 30 pages in.) Anyway, the Enkidu Terminals had waay more information in it than Ilovebees.com. I wonder why it *only* got 75 pages...

Steve, you're still my god for creating these.

More than 10, I think, but folks kinda came-and-went so you may be right that there were 10 who stuck it through all the way. I'll have to go back sometime and see...

Anyway, the Enkidu Terminals had waay more information in it than Ilovebees.com. I wonder why it *only* got 75 pages...
The Terminals were released over three weeks... give the bees thing some more time. Looking at what they've already packed in that site, I'm starting to feel distinctly bush-league.

If you mean the analysis thread, then there truly is no comparison. I was spoiled rotten by you guys, and thought that this was a valid sign as to how an authentic Bungie enigma would be tackled by today's fans. It was so much like the Marathon Story Page analysis that I thought it would carry through... looks like I was wrong. :(

As for "only" 75 pages, it was a smaller fourm at the time. This was a monster thread standing head-and-shoulders above any other and it astonished everyone (me included) with its size, depth, and growth rate... with the opening of The Flood and New Mombassa, epistolic diarrhea has become more common here so other threads have easily out-bulked it. But DAMN, none have matched it for depth and insight. To quote the Sarge; "You make me proud, men."

Steve, you're still my god for creating these.
I'm starting to get Dreaming God-ish looking at the bee speculation. But thanks for the kind words.

-- Steve's thinking of getting Old Testament-ish soon... or maybe Enlil-ish is more appropriate.
