I wish I was still legendary.

I watched through the H3 legendary edition disc with the commentary cinematics today, and found this interesting.

Apparently, if something doesn't get into one game it often gets into the next; they gave the example of assassinating a prophet, originally meant for the silent cartographer and eventually put into halo 2.

Now, onto the ODST part: on the first cinematic of delta halo, where you drop down, they mention this (paraphrased):

"originally it was gonna be a first-person drop. You'd be in 3rd person and see yourself fly past some pelicans, then cut to first person. There were going to be some windows on the pod so you could see where you were dropping."

second person: "another great idea we didn't use."

anyone else see the relation? anything not used in one game, often makes it into one later in the series. Do you guys think this was the inspiration for the opening, 1st person drop pod cinematic as well?

just found it interesting.

oO( Underdogg13 )Oo

Good find, and there's no doubt in my mind that it could've been the inspiration.

watch with commentary. It also explains why the game ends on a cliffhanger, what would otherwise have been there, and what SHOULD have been between delta halo and Gravemind.

EDIT: did you guys know Cairo Station was meant to be a training level in 0g, where you drove round in a warthog? True story.

OTHER FIND: it was also meant to be followed by a level called Covenant Ship, where you would have destroyed a covenant ship from the inside alongside miranda and stuff. It never explains how they got there, which makes me think MORE inspiration for ODST's storyline.

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?"

You have to keep in mind that if I am not mistaken, Joseph Staten, the writer for Halo 2, is writing Halo 3: ODST. Its pretty obvious that all the amazing stuff he had planned for never made the cut due to time (What you just said, those other awesome stuff, the E3 2003 Demo).

What you're seeing in Halo 3: ODST is what Halo 2 was supposed to be. Earth is Screwed. Save it. In fact, I'm willing to bet that this is straight out of Joe's mind. He saw the opportunity.

To be or not to be... Meh, who cares, let's go drinking

thanks for the find dude

I was always sad that they couldn't do all the stuff because of deadlines and system requirements. So glad they got Joe to write it.

CrimsonPandaStudios

I im not wrong they also said that miranda was angry at the chief becuese of her dad, and then strapped a bomb to him, and dropped him down to the gravemind

Big Halo Fan
Makes descent machinima.

oh yeah dude i saw that too its very interesting. My favorite part was when they were talking about Miranda Keyes strapping a bomb to the chiefs back and sending him to gravemind because she didn't like how he punched her fathers face in in halo CE. LOLOL i love that. Also Cortana was going to be a bad guy in Halo CE.

The fight has been complete.... now get the cookies!

While we certainly share your enthusiasm for the return, we here at the Bungie.net community are mostly made up of snarky asses and jerks who will ridicule you for making a thread about something revealed months ago. We regret that your innocent intentions will almost certainly be replied with anger and sarcasm, and politely invite you to don your Flame-suit, because you just did the internet equivalent of jumping up the Construct lifts.

He punched Keyes's head because he had to take out the neural implants so that the flood couldnt get any info on anything they wernt supposed to know
