Mind, body and soul, possibly my sole properties

Ever since playing Halo CE I have wanted to be able to customize my controls 100%. Changing the controls to however the player feels best seems like the feature that could make a lot of games so much better. In fact, I think it should be made a feature in the Xbox Dashboard, that for each game a user plays they have unique configurations for the controller. Thoughts?

Hope to someday work at this place! :)

It's a cool idea. I personally have no problem whatsoever in learning new button configuarions for new games. In some ways, it may be the game developer's way of giving the player the desired experience they want to give. But a universal fps button configuration is an interesting prospect.

Yeah it's not so much that I mind learning the developer's configurations, but the experience is ultimately for the user, and I think the best way to make everybody happy is to leave as much up to them as possible, and in this case, leaving it up to the user can't really mess things up,

I am a fanboy of all three, by the way,

Game Informer had a opinion article about this not that long ago. Fully customizable controls could wreck an experience, but they could also supply a really good canvas for someone who wants "X" advantage. Here are the list of all the possible Xbox 360 buttons, and note that every button can be either pressed or tapped:

I think the dpad click was actually removed on the 360 controllers. And while it may be able to ruin an experience, the usual default options could be included as well. It could even be something like how those old gamestop controllers had the re-assignment button, You could get some pretty insane control schemes with this sort of feature, imagine running with the triggers and bumpers, different combinations give you different angles, 4 buttons for running would work because you could use the dpad to run in CE.
