Here's something I'd REALLY love to see in Reach.

It is actually quite simple. Make an option in the settings menu that disallows you to skip cutscenes. You could have it set to 'Cutscene Skipping Disabled', 'Only Skip When You Press A', or 'Skip All Cutscenes'.

I almost had a disastrous accident while playing Halo 3 Campaign for the first time. I almost hit 'A' during an important cutscene, which would have absolutely ruined things since I would have to restart the level to see it again. This is why the option is so important, because the first time I play through the game, I would never, ever, skip a cutscene, and doing so would lessen my appreciation of the story and would require me to play back large part of the game just to get to the cutscene I skipped.

What do you think?

i think bungie should make everyone watch the cutscenes the first time but the second time through you can skip it

I think it's useless. Just don't touch your controller during a cut scene. And, even if you skip the cut scene, you can always quit and replay the level. Cut scenes in the middle of the game shouldn't be a problem, as you'd have a checkpoint to start from and rewatch the cut scene.

With this, everybody is happy. People who aren't fans and just like playing some stupid video game could skip all cutscenes, but real fans could be forced to watch them all. Everybody wins.

for once everyone will know what the story is about instead of them just skipping the cut scene just to shoot more -blam!-

Exactly. It's not that hard, and you don't have to worry about skipping a cut scene once you do.

Yes, but then you don't feel the force feedback which has a very good effect of immersing you in the story, in my opinion. There is nothing to lose with this feature and everything to gain for hardcore fans like me.

I'd rather Bungie worry more about other features than something like this.

Right, but what about your friends? Now, this may not be the case he brought up, but whenever I play campaign with my friends, someone always tries to skip the cutscene immediately.

When I play the game for the story, I play by myself. If you're playing with friends, then just ask them to not skip the scene.

All situations/problems posed by you guys are solvable with this idea. First off, I bet this would take someone five minutes to code, test, and enter into the latest build, so time isn't really an issue. (to the best of my knowledge)

If your friends want to skip cutscenes, you can agree upon earlier if you want that to happen. And when I'm playing for the first time, it will always be only myself, which is what this feature is for.

If you don't like it, then set it to optional skipping and things are just like they are in Halo 1, 2, and 3. Nothing is at risk, nothing changes if you don't want it to.
