First of all I like Bungies new title, It will hopefully make me be able to see what Reach was all about. But I just want it a bit different from the Former Halo games, How? Yes let's start off with the mature level of the past Halo games. Halo: CE yes to me it was pretty mature, some scary and dark levels mixed with a bit of guy jokes, It had a perfect match of blood and the feeling that you didn't like it for some reason. Next: Halo 2, I kinda liked this game but however, It felt a bit more kiddish then Halo: CE did, I don't know why. Maybe it was the missions, or maybe it was the main characters superiority to the covenant and other enemies. I still liked the dark levels because then you didn't have a clue on what you where up against. Okay Halo 3 next. This game also has it's up side and down sides to me. Starting with equipment... I hate them so much. For me it takes away the part on what used to be old time halo fun, trip mines and radar jammers are okay. But the regenarators and bubbleshields, are just plain annoying... "HEY, I'll just take this cover and camp in the middle of the map and shoot at the enemies base over there lol." or "OMG ther is a guy shooting at me COVER DEPLOY!!" And it's just not the equipments. Campaign storyine felt allot more, sigh where is the suprices? The only masterwork was the CGI's witch truly showed the storyline in a good way. But in gameplay Masterchief felt like a Stone on wheels driving though all the covenants and enemies you could encounter, you always had the right weapons to kill them and it wasn't hard either. You where supposed to be outnumbered but no... I still want that halo game when you are scared, like the first one. But all above is my opinion only.

So all together I think that Halo: CE was truly the best game of them all, no suprices there right? So what to do with Halo: Reach? A good idea to me is to remove all those elements that makes you feel invincible and make the characters is the game easy to relate to, often when you relate to a character the need to get more in depth grows. Specially the main character. That is why I think that Bungie still hasn't showed the face of Master Chief.

So lets look above us... see over there at the Halo: Reach titlebar, That is persons with each a different looks - it seems like and I hope they will have each a different personality showed to us early in the game and as the progress of the game starts to develop you get more and more comfortable with each one... hopefully of course. I also love to see jokes made from another person to another person, it gives me a good view of the characters personallitys. I wouldn't either like it if all of those are Spartans, yes sure spartans are cool and all that but no... without the feeling of minority there will be no exiting moments. So how cool wouldn't it be if you where a type of marine fighting alongside with different game characters such as spartans? It would get a more in depth value of how the battlefield really is as a marine in those fights. And I've honestly never seen a game where you are the least powerful of all your buddies, It would be interesting for sure.

I also want that feeling like the covenant are against you and the more you fight them the angrier it gets, and that is why it would be good to hide sometimes... you know, like the GTA system of the cops chasing you. A different mixture of Half Life 2 and GTA alongside with Halo, couldn't go wrong if done right. And I mean this as it has to be in Campaign, not in multiplayer.

Also the storyline is obviously important and the mixture of events in it. There is a certain "map" that most film makers use and I think it would be better if Bungie followed that system, I just can't remember what it's called... I know I had it when we where researching about movies in school but I can't remember, any help D:

Halo: Reach should also be "darker" themed then all of Bungies before halo games, and it sure wouldn't hurt to show a innocent citizen with a severed head in a dark ally because then it would be all like: "Hey you evil Covenant, what did you do with that guys head!!!?" That gives the player emotions of all sorts including fear if done right.

So in all summary I would like Halo: Reach to be less of a kids game, It's rated mature. Why wont make it mature? It also wouldn't hurt if certain women flirted with certain persons either, Eh? Eh? If you know what I mean of course.

Maybe it has something to do with the "Halo Chronicles" thing.

Unfortunately that project was put on indefinate hold (in other words: cancelled). Yes, I am hoping Reach will show the emotional side of war, a theme rarily shown in gaming. We have all seen the theme of oppression and idealism, but what about the consequences of war? That inner terror that you may die or that your family may die? If Reach had at least a small hint at this theme, I would be happy.

I doubt that Peter Jacksons project will be serious. I still have my fingers crossed, but I have a strong feeling that that is going to be an arcade game.

I agree that the latter two instalments in the Halo trilogy felt more aimed toward children...that's because they were. The games were designed with the Mass Market in its sights.

Personally, like the OP, I feel it takes away huge amounts of the atmosphere and challenge of the games, especially for the Campaign. Again, like OP, enemies weren't fearsome or challenging, but merely objects that would start to attack one of your shield layers like mosquitoes. Not a threat.

So, I am in agreement. "Different"; darker, more challenging, more serious, with more replay value than skulls and Achievements. I.E. because the Campaign is fun.

EDIT: In addition, the feeling of complete and utter hopelessness during the Campaign might help. you may be individually superior to your enemies, but there are so -blam!- many of them, and they have Air Support and vehicles, that everything is desperate, not just a "Oh, there won't be more, I'll just take potshots." like Halo 2 and Halo 3 were.

You should play the entire Half Life series, truly gives you that feeling sometimes :D

When I finished playing that game I was like woah. I want Halo to have that style too.

This is one reason I will probably like Halo 3: ODST more than Halo 2 or Halo 3: it actually makes the Brute seem like a satisfying and worthy adversary for me to fight. The Brute should've been put into a game where the player doesn't have recharging health. Their weapons are a lot better against an ODST/Mk. V wielder than a Mk. VI wielder. And that is exactly what I like about it. So yeah, bring on that difficulty and learning curve the first game and ODST (most likely) have.

@Flexinator: Only played the current games in the Half-Life 2 saga, but that is actually where I got the theme of oppression from since I see that in the game more than the emotional side of war.

The only thing i believe Combat Evolved really excelled at was the open-world aspect of campaign. Where Halo 2 and 3 gave you a specific way to do most things, Halo: CE just kind of said "Theres a base over there. Take it." You had more choices and ways to go about things.

Each Halo game was the best in some way. CE had a great campaign, and multiplayer was orignal. Halo 2 had some nice boss battles, and fantastic multiplayer maps. Halo 3 has the best engine, and the custom games are way better because of all the options.

If they could make the campaign original but open-world style like CE, make original maps that were interactive like Halo 2's, and give it a ton of options and settings like Halo 3, it could possibly be the best FPS ever.

"So all together I think that Halo: CE was truly the best game of them all"

I stopped reading after that.
To be really fair, I didn't read before that either.

Awwww...

What I mean is that Halo: CE had a more "polished" campaign.
