Subject: ODST's cannot take down a scarab!

Do you see the tigers too?!?!?

Just because it takes place in that time period doesn't mean it's the same, it is using the same game engine as halo 3 so don't assume stupid things like that based on halo 2...people are stupid on these forums...

Why do you assume that just because it is taking place during Halo 2 everything is going to be exactly the same as it was in Halo 2? Most likely it will how it was in Halo 3, considereing ODST was originally going to be an expasion, why would Bungie make a bunch of new things for it to be like Halo 2?
why would halo 2 be exactly the same as halo 2?
bungie is on a strict timeline..

No, everything will be like Halo 3 because it uses Halo 3's engine. Bungie has all ready stated that it would take to much time to change everything back to Halo 2.

I was in 5th grade. I popped in the Halo CE disc into the massive, clunky first generation Microsoft Xbox, and wrapped my small hands around the controller that was almost too big for me. Little did I know what I was getting into.

10+ years later, I still look up to my childhood hero, Master Chief, while everyone talks about He Man and Spongebob haha

Halo 2/Xbox=/=Halo 3/Xbox 360

Seeing as how ODST uses Halo 3's engine, things will definitely be different from Halo 2.

This apple is brown, and rotten. This orange on the other hand, is in relatively average shape. So the orange is definitely the preferable option.
----------You can't compare apples and oranges. You're so dumb.

that Scarab was, like any other video game enemy, the first version. (not chronologically, mind you, just the first attempt at Bungie making a Scarab)

the Halo 3 version is the SAME type of scarab as was in Halo 2, but just with changes Bungie decided to make.

for instance, if Bungie remade Halo 2 using the engine Halo 3 uses, the Halo 2 Scarab would look EXACTLY the same as the Halo 3 one.

it's not like the Covenant decided to upgrade the Scarab. it's just a different game.

I think its safe to say, no. The differences between the Halo 2 scarab and the Halo 3 scarab are too big to explain as simply a small change between different iterations.

One is blue, one is purple. One is much taller than the other. Ones primary cannon is a consistent plasma beam untill the weapon overheats, the other rapidly shoots balls of plasma before it overheats.. One is controled by a control panel(as suggested in the first appearance but reinforced when Johnson jacks it). One is controlled by a colony of worms like the Hunters. In Halo 2, the scarab is taken down by killing all of the pilots. The scarab is not destroyed, just neutralized. In Halo 3, the only way to neutralize the scarab is to destroy the vehicle, by destroying the power source, causing an explosion that destroys the vehicle, and kills the colony of worms.

.. The scarabs in Halo 2, and that of Halo 3 , atleast in my own mind are two seperate, but coexistant vehicles. One designed for mining purposes, one for warfare. One controlled by a pilot, trained to operate the vehicle. One essentially serving as an exoskeleton of a colony of worms.

Anyways I hope Scarabs atleast make a cameo role in Halo 3: ODST. But I seriously doubt they will be features in the game, to any serious degree. But we will see.

Howdy

Upon The ODST's dropping into New Mombasa Chief Destroyed The Scarab running Rampant through the City. When The Game starts your dropping in watching Regret jumping into Slipspace inside the city.

Halo 2 and Halo 3 Brutes were very different, but in ODST we still have Halo 3 Brutes, even though it takes place during Halo 2.

Whats to say that the Scarab in ODST wont be the Halo 3 Scarab?

Any link confirming that the Halo 3 Scarab was basically a huge Hunter?

Im not saying that youre wrong, its just that Ive never heard this before.

If they're using the halo 3 engine, then it would probably be a lot harder to make a halo 2 scarab than to just use the one for halo 3. If you looked at the gameplay videos, they use the halo 3 enemy models for grunts and brutes.
And another thing, if I recall correctly, you never actually fought a scarab in halo 2. You just jumped on it and killed the drivers.

Look at the part of the scarab you destroy, you can see the worms there.
