go to http://www.gamespyarcade.com/ and download Gamespy Arcade. You can play Halo there online cause it thinks its a LAN. When Halo 2 comes out it will be on there too and you can play it online. Since it thinks there LAN games you can play 64 players on Halo 2. (sinceLan games can have 64 players)

Who would want 64 players? you would die in a second and it would become lagsville. Trust me i have XB connect just for halo (i do have Xbox live, but as probably half of the worlds population already knows, their is no live on halo). just because it thinks it's a System link game, it doesn't mean it doesn't have lag. I'm not being rude or anything. i just thought people should know. You should have a normal sized game. that would probably make things better.

Just becasue 64 people sounds good and its a bigger number, it would suck sooooo bad.

Not exactly true. Bungie has been experimenting with game sizes and they are not looking for putting the maximum players possible online. But to put the most amount of players online effectivly. For an example few (or no) maps can support 64 player and the lag may be unbarrable. But 32 players is more of a realistic posibllity. So its really up to bungie. And I think its not amount players playing but how many players are in a level. I.E. 16 players on Rat Race on halo is too much. While 4 players on Sidewinder is too little.

Well if you have gamespy tunneling there is a dedicated Halo sever with up to 64 people...It has almost no lag and usally will play Side winder and Hang em high CTF of course.

Yes, if every box is a single player. The maps will almost certainly not support 64 players. If LAN did, Bungie would have said that. Addtionally XBC (much better than gamespy for playing Halo online through system link) or Gamespy can hardly handle 4v4 games, you have to find a really good host; I know I've been playing for 1.5 yrs on XBC/Gamespy. You really think it would work with 32v32????

LOL, thats funny, and your right. You'd have guys all over the place and with each team having 32 players!!!! It would be insane, you would recreate Fort Sumter, litteraly; while only playing CTF.

if the level was big enough (like a part in assault on the control room) then that would be hella fun.

obviously none of you have played battlefield 1942 they have 64 players and this new game called joint operations has 150 players its possible to have 64 players on xbox live if

1 bungie has its own super servers
2. U can rent these super servers like in Battlefield 1942
3. They dont let u see the whole map at once (this one can be avoided by either a fog or only letting people with good connections join big games)
4. no one uses dial up (this will be eliminated by xbox live requiring broadband)

Just as a fact no xbox live games have servers all of them are either dedicated or xbox to xbox to xbox etc. with a server its like a dedicated game but the host has unlimited processing and internet power
