DMR = win, but BR is still epic win

I think it's a flare or a key or a lever or something that the entire game hinges upon.

But a knife, that is the best weapon that spartan could get for their big cover shot?

what? you think a knife is worthless?

"If buttered toast lands buttered side down, and cats always land on their feet, then what happens when you attach buttered toast to the back of a cat?

What good would a knife be against a shielded and armored opponent? Why would Bungie implement a weapon that may only work on a few enemies just in campaign? There is a difference between being cool and being practical, and in the world of weapons, cool is just a tag that gets pinned on with something designed to be practical. A knife wouldn't be practical.

You should read the rest of the forum. You missed a lot. And last time I checked, you can hit someone in the back of the head and kill them with the stock of a gun. Why can't a knife do anything?

"Let me tell you a little something about BLUNT. FORCE. TRAUMA." The concussive energy goes through the shield. It isn't solid, but it still stops stuff.

Are sure about that? You obviously need to learn a thing or two about the human body.

Well, with the energy shields it would take at least two stabs to kill someone. So whats the point of a knife? Its no more effective than current melee but you can't shoot. Although honestly I doubt a hit(with most weapons) even from a Spartan would collapse a shield after on time. I think it should be three melees to kill when just punching but if you jump then melee it should do more damage.

the will to win is the will to destroy

SUPER NICE!!!

A knife may be lame. Wheres the machete from those pictures of (i think it is) the pilot version of the first halo game. Knife would be cool too though.
So you're saying a knife cant go through armor what about the brute shot blade?
Solution: dumb down melee because its kinda ridiculous, add the knife for a combination in melee (not like combo i.e hit, stab). Maybe if you have it you could use it instead of melee when you reach a certain rank.

There aren't any gabs in the energy shields. There aren't any gaps either. The armor would have weak spots but it would massively over complicate the game to have a knife that could only kill in certain armor spots. Besides you would have to take out the shields first to stab them.

Ok to put it simply being struck in the back of the head/neck by someone with a metal object does serious damage. Example would be a steel baseball bat, impacting at the part of your head with the least protection offered by the skull.

Assassinations in Halo are just a good solid gameplay mechanic, if you manage to sneak up behind someone or maneuver behind someone you deserve a one-hit kill and they deserve a one-hit death. Nothing to do with realism or Halo lore. It's just a really good dependable gameplay idea.

the first strike book first chapters show him fidling with it fallof of reach last i checked he used it bit their are gaps in all the armours so it could work and hope it does perhaps a throwing knife could work
