Still using a pump-action shotgun over 500 years in the future I see.

omg not realistic stop game production plz

I know it sounds great, but I just don't think it's Halo. I don't think it'll work.

I can't really imagine a Halo version of Rainbow-Six Vegas. The thought of that just seems to bore me. I like Halo gameplay relatively well as it is. Sure, make some changes, give it a new zing. But don't turn it into some crap that it shouldn't be, because it sounds cool at first.

I feel naked with this open, quick, close the damn thing before I get a cold...

Well it would depend on how it is done, I don't think it would quite be 'halo reach: vegas' I think if done correctly it could be the new 'zing' halo needs.

Then again there's nothing wrong with halo as is, so I don't think It really needs it.

That's how it was in the books. They fought even larger groups of enemies then in Halo 1 through 3. So being more tactical was needed. Anyway, Halo needs some big twist.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Exactly, you couldint imagine it like that, but i have always wanted a Halo - Rainbow Six Vegas type of game. I love the idea of Squad based Halo.

If you want to see the MC die, play Legendary. If you want to see MC finish the fight, play Halo 3. If you want to see MC finish the fight by dieing, why did you waste six years when you could have done it yourself right now?

You'd need to be fighting a hell of a lot more enemies then you are now. That's for sure. It'd have to be so enourmous, tactical combat is absolutely necessary.

There won't be squad based gameplay. Granted there may be Spartans acting as Marines would in any of the games, but no squad based warfare. That is not the Halo way and it will not be changed to be such

There is no drastic change here. Just squad commands. The gameplay would be the same, the only difference is that you can control your spartan allies for planned attacks, etc.

EDIT: It's something similar to this I would want. Something simple, yet effective. It would obviously be for individual characters, seeing as how that game is about having a large group of rebels.

Fair enough, I have read TFoR. I know what you mean, but I think I kinda want it more to the FPS side, with just a little tactical. Let me explain.

Basically, I don't want an FPS game that's too much like GRAW 2, for example. For me, in that game, there were too many different tactical options for the game to be entirely enjoyable.

I want to Halo: Reach to retain the Halo-FPS feel and throw in some tactical/squad feel, but not so much that you have to use some sort of tool activated by the D-Pad every 2 minutes. I don't know if this makes much sense, but hopefully you'll know what I mean.

Writing Lead of Whisper Studios. Check out Heron!

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

I would really like more types of Halo games. Halo Wars was pretty good. I would love for bungie to put a spin on the Battlefield/Battlefront type game. Halo's unique controls (i.e. no needing to equip a melee weapon or grenade to use them) as well as shields (different strenghts for different classes) could make for an interesting balance. Plus, imagine playing a 24 player Infection match on a Battlefield sized map, where the humans need to fight from one end of the island to the other for evac. And the zombies are aided by Flood NPCs.

Considering you have the maturity of an 8 year old on Smarties, why don't you?

I was making this thread to discuss to what extent Halo should be tactical/squad based. There's my purpose, dumbass . Now, kindly GTFO the topic.

Don't think it's Halo? If you read the books, the Spartans actually worked heavily in squads.

I've read the book "The Fall of Reach" and I know they work in squads very efficiently. What I mean is that in the books, the Spartans are constantly using different equipment and tactics. I feel that all these options would make Reach feel gimmicky and complicated.

So basically, I'm hoping it will have some tactical/squad feel to it, and with some new tactical features, but not so many that most the buttons are used up for these options.

E.g. "Press RB, hold it, spin the controller clockwise at exactly 5mph and tap X to peer around wall, fire rocket and dive into room".

Remember that sometimes the books, even though they're canon, can have really crappy ideas when translated into the video games. Squad based gameplay won't work, and straight up regular Halo gameplay is tactical enough.

Large multplayer battles would be nice though.

When people bring up the books on this forum, I feel like crying, because the books will not be a major contributing factor to the development of this game, apart from the setting, and maybe bits of the story. Why? Because one: Bungie decides what's canon, what ideas are good and bad, and two: Bungie pulls the strings on the Halo universe. In my mind, most of the ideas in the books would not make for good gameplay, because of the way they would change the formula.

Don't go running around with your little book, which was awesome, and tell other people their ideas are either good or bad because you saw/didn't see it in the book, because come release, a majority of the ideas used in the book might not have translated to the game.
