Subject: Why does Halo: Reach *fall*?

I am not interested in joining your group.

After watching the video Bungie offered us today, I was wondering why they said

FALLS 2010

at the end of the Halo: Reach trailer. Isn't that the Halo 3: ODST slogan?

Here is my brother's thought:

Maybe they said that because of the book, you know, 'The Fall of Reach'. Dumb***.

I can see where he is going with that...

Discuss.

Halo 3's slogan was "Finish the fight"

The game will be released Autumn next year, which Americans name "Fall", and Reach also falls in the battle. It makes sense.

Falls into stores in 2010
likely in the Fall

  • 07.21.2009 6:27 PM PDT

Your brother is right.

The Fall refers not to a literally drop, but the failing or destruction of the object, in this case, the Planet Reach.

Shall we replace a few words? We go from:

"Reach Falls 2010"

to

"Reach will be destroyed in 2010"

Plus there is the clever bit where it incidentally will come out in the 3rd quarter of 2010, also known as autumn or fall.

Makes sense, right?

the odst slogan is
prepare to drop

Nothing is better than gaming through the day, into the night, then back into the day. It's like when you finally push that power button you feel like you've accomplished nothing, but at the same time, you can't stop smiling.

Because Reach fell to the Covenant. I guess they're using it in that sense.

Can Bungie make it anymore obvious? I most defiantly means Fall as in the book's title Fall of Reach, meaning that the Planet Reach falls (defeated), and taken by the Covenant not fall as in Autumn *dahh*

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

ODST's slogan is DROPS. As in the ODSTs dropping to the surface, as well as it dropping onto shelves.

Going by the same logic, FALLS refers to the Spartans of Red Team dropping to the surface, as well as the game falling onto shelves. It also refers to the fall (conquest) of Reach. Not the novel, but the event in Halo history since the Spartans drop to the surface soon before it happens.

Don't get cocky now!

Chances are though, that If the beta will be in spring of 2010, the game will come out ~6 months later just like Halo 3 did.

  • 07.21.2009 9:45 PM PDT

Well it's coming out fall 2010, and the spartans, from what I know, do at times drop like ODST's without a drop pod when needed. Think end of Halo 2/beginning of Halo 3.

I don't think it has a reference to the Autumn season.

I know what Halo 3: ODST's slogan is, I just think
FALLS 2010
fits better with ODST than it does with Reach.

I think the slogan should be:

"Start the end 2010"

Since they said:

From the beginning, you knew the end.

This would be a good time to point out that the US Government seriously did consider nuking the moon during the Cold War as a show of force. Project A119.

"A large explosion on the Terminator line would put the sun behind the mushroom cloud, making the explosion visible with the naked eye from Earth."

Then the US decided they'd just send in Neil Armstrong to land on it. Neil Armstrong - the one man on the earth that was considered a suitable replacement for a nuclear missile.

Does "Orbital Drop Shock Tooper mean anything to you?

Prepare to Drop.

Reach Falls 2010 is referring to the Fall of Reach.

I understand all this. I know Halo 3: ODST's slogan. I know it's "Drop". I am just saying, falls seemed a little odd at first.

It could just mean that its release date is in the fall of 2010

I have can think of 3 possibilities:
-The Fall of Reach one your brother suggested.
-The the fact that it will be release in Fall/Autumn.
-It could be a reference to the spartans jumping from the edge of the atmosphere and falling to Reach in The Fall of Reach.

Clearly because the desktop uses a 3 prong plug and a laptop uses a 2 prong plug, the microwave will fill your car with tostitos better

I would guess sometime between August-November of 2010.

All of the Halo games have been released in that time period so far, I don't see the trend ending.

I'm going to guess it will come out September 28 next year.

Okay, well I guess everyone thinks that it says "FALLS 2010" because it is going to be released in the Fall then?
