We all know Halo has some swearing and violence and blood and gore, but kinds under 10 play it too.

Should Halo be Rated T?

  • 07.22.2009 7:16 AM PDT

Halo is just a very low/soft M already. I think ODST shouldbe rated T.... the only reason to have it as M is for the online community and the Flood.

The fight has been complete.... now get the cookies!

While we certainly share your enthusiasm for the return, we here at the Bungie.net community are mostly made up of snarky asses and jerks who will ridicule you for making a thread about something revealed months ago. We regret that your innocent intentions will almost certainly be replied with anger and sarcasm, and politely invite you to don your Flame-suit, because you just did the internet equivalent of jumping up the Construct lifts.

Even if it is the most smallest thing to us, it would fall under Mature for just seeing you kill.

Bungie has said the ESRB was going to give them a (T) rating for the first Halo until they saw the flood. It was because of the whole dismemberment / gore deal. (Also other countries have given the Halo series a 16+ rating.)

Assuming there's no flood in ODST, I don't see why it shouldn't get a (T) rating.

The Halo 3 and ODST ratings are different. They are both M, but Halo 3 had "Mild Language" while ODST is just "Language." ODST is Blood, Halo 3 is "Blood and Gore."

Could we except more swearing and blood, but no dismemberment? A bit darker Halo?

Vancouver BC, Canada.

M is fine.

It could be rated T, but if they choose to make it M, they have a lot more to work with, they dont have to sugar coat it

no because there is to much blood in the game.

The only Halo game that had that much blood was Halo: CE. You could literally beat blood out of bodies until the walls were covered in blue blood. Whenever you fought a Hunter pair, every surface was orange.

I am a whisper on the wind...

Well in one of the Videos about ODST, they said that there was abit mor blood than in previous halo games. You can see that in one of the Firefight videos, the ODST character leaves alot of blood on the ground.

No, you're right. If it wasn't for the Flood then Halo wouldn't have any "gore". Flood bodies break apart, no other enemies supply your TV screen with gore. Covies and Human allies just bleed.
The game gets an "M" because it has gore, and it has gore because of the Flood. So the game has an "M" rating because of the Flood. If a=b and b=c then a=c
F.Y.I. I'm not complaining about the "M" rating, if it has the potential to keep out annoying little kids who shouldn't be in Matchmaking or playing the game then I like it. For the kids' and my own good.

I'll be 17 when it hits store shelves, so it doesn't even effect me! ^_^

I think Halo needs to be more of an M rated game. The M rating is a greenlight for heavy content, including graphic violence and gore, and even nudity. I think Bungie needs to go balls to the wall on Reach, and make it gory as hell. If you read Reach, you'll ,know its a violent story, and some thrills and snapped arms.

It's rated M, but i have a feeling that a large part of the players is under 13, which is annoying.
I think ODST should be 13+
Especially because of the people on these forums that go: "I'm 12 and what is this?"

Lay down your women and weapons.... IN THAT ORDER!

I've always wondered that too, i mean it's not really that violent and it looks kinds like toon violence

Snakie Purple.

"Hamdog, Hamdog, Hamdog, Hamdog"-Hamdog.

Twatter

It's only rated M because it is tied to Halo 3 with the title. If it was Halo: ODST, it would be rated T.

I'm glad my parents "trust" Bungie as a developer that does not put massive amounts of blood and gore in games. SO when i take one of them with me to get ODST it will be good.
