Halo CE had a fast paced gameplay, simplistic story, decent gameplay, it also had some nice, wide environments, it also had some good music.
The thing thst bugged me the most, was the reuse of levels, the instant death of touching a moving vehicle, the control and gravity of warthogs and ghosts, and the health system, IMO, the game itself is a bit overrated.
Halo 2, on the other hand, had a better story, some nice additions, and elements, compared to CE, along with its notable negatives, notably the overpowered plasma pistol, and the massive aim assist.
While the "other" negatives, like glitches are actually a subject that recieves a lot of love and hatred, the only negatives that I hate the most, is the cut levels, enemies, and weapons, particulary the flame thrower, the cut Covenant Capital Ship level, along with the mark of shame weapon, besides that, their are some great things in this game, particulary the Arbiters story, the incredible music, and the wide variety of weapons to suit your style, along with the hidden skulls to find and alter your gameplay with.
Besides all these things, the multiplayer, from what I heard, really kick-started a new legacy that bungie envisioned since they made Halo CE.
While I prefer Halo 2, I play both games, because they are fun FPS games.
