Halo and COD are two completely different games. You can't compare them. Taking away Halo's "balancing" would take a piece of the game away.

I'm bloody sick of "balancing"

I grew up with unreal, and in unreal, you fight for the big guns, you fight for the powerups, that is a great multiplayer experience, that is also why I love halo,

as much as I enjoy pasting a .50cal round to someones face in a class based game like Farcry 2 when I'm sneaking around, nothing is more satisfying than beating the snot out of someone and taking their big stiick

I get that point but think. One guy spawns with an AR because he was busy fighting other guys. The guy on the blue team has a sniper. The guy on the red team is unanimously screwed. This is half the reason I love COD more.

rushing for the best weapons is what makes halo halo. what annoys me is the spawn system where you die only to spawn within sight of another enemy

In my experience, if you want to win a game, don't let the enemy team get the rockets.

And also, most of the time, it's 2 free kills anyway, not a big deal.

My favourite weapon in Halo series is the Plasma Rifle, but i never use exept in CE because it sucks. Balancing is a good thing but if you balance too much it becomes very boring ( Battlefield Bad company is a good example).
The Plasma Rifle should be improved such as very little homing ability or the stun effect.
Mid range weapons headshot capability should be remover or give headshot capability to every weapon.

I would go to say that 1 Plasma Rifle could compare to the default AR. I would say that most AR battles end in a beat down anyways, so the AR would also fit in that specific scenario. It all depends on who's using the weapons. If somebody uses a Plasma Rifle and decides to stay back and not go for a beat down, then they are the fool. If somebody uses an Assault Rifle against a Plasma Rifle and decides to go for the beat down, then they are the fool.


That's just it though. In a straight fight, on open terrain, do you think its fair to give the advantage to the Assault Rifle this way? I mean, what's stopping you from strafing and dodging most of the plasma shots? Against two, intelligent opponents, the advantage will always be with to the one with the Assault Rifle, period. Plasma man going for the melee? Backpedal and strafe and keep him from doing it. Worst case scenario? Dodge as much as you can and go for the melee. What's that? You both died as the same time? How so very interesting.

Plasma weapons in Halo 3 were balanced. One of my favorite weapons is the plasma rifle, primarily because of it's ability to take out shields. Frankly I've never seen Plasma weapons as being underpowered, I just see them as having different niches.

The only improvements I feel that are needed for plasma weapons are faster bullet speed. That is their one downfall. Also, if bungie were to 'improve' the plasma rifle into a more powerful, two handed weapon, than that would fill in the mid-range combat niche for the plasma weapons, and they could add a new SMG type plasma weapon to replace the old rifle.

If you want to see the MC die, play Legendary. If you want to see MC finish the fight, play Halo 3. If you want to see MC finish the fight by dieing, why did you waste six years when you could have done it yourself right now?

Okay, Max. You beat it out of me and I suddenly remember an idea I had years ago. The problem with what you're saying is the guy screwed has zero control over his fate. He's dead in the water and its up to his next spawn to get a better shot.

What if you had the option while you're respawning to pick a particular type of spawn? Before, it was always random and it can stay random for those people who wouldn't care for this feature, but the most popular argument I hear about any new idea is, "it's just not Halo." My friend, this idea IS Halo.

While respawning, you have the option to pick from 4 different types of spawns and the system will do its best to put you where you want. You press Y to spawn by an ally out of combat, X to spawn in your base or in random cover, B to spawn in combat (where you are needed), and A to spawn away from combat. Is there problems with this? Youbetcha. It makes it easier for griefers, but then again, what doesn't these days. What about the advantages? The player has more control over his fate. If he knows there is a sniper covering most of the area, he might want to press X. If he knows his buddies are in trouble, he can try to press B to attempt to do what he can.

That's hilarious! So did I! I've been planning to attack this forum with my ideas for weeks, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. When I saw the sticky about the campaign, it made me remember why I fell in love with the Bungie community. If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend you do.

Juggernaut is fair. Combat with Stopping Power.
M16 fires bursts, as said before, I find the M4 to be a lot more effective.
MP5 is all over the place, and is only effective in short controlled bursts.
MP40 isn't in CoD4, unless you're talking about CoD WaW. It has a slow rate of fire.

Yes the game IS balanced. and balanced very well i might add.

If your to slow to get the rockets first you get killed by them.

Its just like situations in real life. DO OR DIE :P

Everyone starts off with a medium weapon and have an equal chance at a kill.

I know. But people keep bringing up flase facts about it, so I have to keep correcting them. I still stand by my Plasma weapons and melee statement I made earlier, if that helps to stay on topic.

Perfect example why BR starts is better.

But now the Battle Rifle has a spread, which completely eliminates the point of having a medium range, as you'll only get it's full power at close-mid range.

what your stating is not unbalance. your talking about strategy which halo revolves around. they make you try to get map dominance by getting weapons basically on every map you have to try to fight for rocks by using several tatics team br nades anything you got. some weapons you dont use much actually help you alot in the beginning of the game. spikers plasma rifles needlers bruteshots and occasional flame thrower.(depends on what the other team does)

Thats why you should spawn with a midrange weapons so you have a chance off the start but ultimately its just too damn bad if you don't get the power weapons and proceed to get owned. The best video games have always been the ones with power weapons on maps. Spawning with every weapon is boring because everything is overly balanced and the gameplay has no depth.

I'm assuming you meant the thread that you had linked in your super post back on page two.

Yep, already read it. Thought it was brilliant.

And why do people keep repeating each other in this thread? "u haff to get to teh rokets furst, itz caled strategeh noob!" I understand that, having weapons placed about the map I don't think was the main point of the thread. I simply think having a more reliable spawn system would solve a majority of these "balance" problems.

And to the post saying that the guy who spawns in front of the sniper. What I would do it run. Yeah, run, hide. Get out of his line of sight. There's obviously nothing you can do, so why expose yourself to harm? I've never been caught in a spawn trap, simply because I hate watching the respawn screen. I'd sooner sit in the base for 10 minutes cowering than spend 10 minutes staring at the respawn screen. Having a sense of self-preservation is important when playing at the higher regimes in Halo. You have to know when you back down, when you've got the advantage, and if need be, run.
