I think we should go back to the Halo 2 ranking system or have a completely new one.

No it doesn't, becaue he is asking if you a new ranking system or not in Reach. It could go in both though.

The halo 2 system would be best IMO. The thing I hate about the H3 system is when i started I really sucked and had to get use to the new gameplay, thus losing quite a few games starting out. As i learned the game and adapted to it, I still have the couple hundred games at the beggining that still effect my level even though I've gotten drastically better.

I just think the better simpler system of If you when a set amount of games you go up, if you lose a set amount of games you go down.

Definitely Halo 2 style BUT it displays your highest ever rank, so people won't stop playing the playlists once they think they've hit their maximum.

Du-hergan!

i think this should be in the halo 3 forum

  • 07.22.2009 9:12 PM PDT

It should be + X for win, - X for lose. Any loss should be as great as value as a win.

Honestly, I adore the Halo 3 rank system. It's flawless, in my opinion.

Death to rank junkies.

Any ranking system is bad in my opinion. All it does is give retards a reason to scream " OMG IM BETTER THAN U!!!1!!ONEONE1" That gets annoying fast.

The number ranking system needs to be the same as the Halo 2 system, where you're good as a 30, not a 45. 50s would actually mean something then. Keep the EXP system and military ranks from H3, but make it so that if you're on the losing team but perform as good or better than the average k/d on the winning team, you still get an EXP point.

Well when one wins ten games in a row with an average of 15 kills or better and doesn't rank up...there is something wrong

I'd love to have that again, no more cocky generals who're nothing special at all.

When you face a 50 on H3 you have no idea whether they'll even be better than you. IF you were ever lucky enough to face a 50 on H2, you knew you were about to get destroyed (or they were a modder).

i agree I much Prefered the halo2 ranking system. :) + it was scary when a level 45-50 got put on the enemy team! and if they gor put on your team you knew they were going to get all the kills! ;)

That's actually a very good idea. =)

A Halo 3 system with adjusted s->level and a look at how the matchmaking effects info-gathering in unusual situations would be what I'd like.

Anything that encourages beating your own team is what I would not like.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Its going to use Truskill unless Microsoft switches systems.

I didn't mean to put it like that, I just meant to say the MVP of the losing team should at least get some credit for trying.

You said it perfect. The current ranking system does not allow for improvement to be shown as you said. That's why with halo 2's ranking system, when you get better you start winning more games and go up until you reach the level where you can't win as easily and that would be your new rank.
I know that I would play halo 3 a lot more if the ranking system would be improved. If they went with a similar system in reach, I think it would be a huge mistake.

I think it just takes too long to rank up! H3's system is too big and you would have to play endless amounts of slayer to even rank up a little bit. H2's system was easy and fast, play a few games, and didnt suck and you would rank up pretty fast. Also, it would give those little tebagging 12 year olds an excuse to actually show off because the only game they ever play is halo and have no life.
