It wouldn't work. There has to be a balance between vehicle combat and the players on foot and with water there is none. Spartans can't swim so losing your vehicles would make it impossible to play. Overall the balance of Halo wouldn't work with water combat. Besides boats would be useless in the future.

No need for water combat when you have space combat. Fighting with boats in the future just seems useless.

*Underwater super submarine launches five hundred nukes at Covenant space fleet*

That's why they need boats.

No

It's true. If the Covenant had no water based weaponry, then the UNSC would simply build an underwater MAC cannon and use it.

I don't know if boats would be very practical in the far off future. But it would still be fun.

  • 07.23.2009 1:06 PM PDT

that would be really cool like they have the elephant sized mobile boat bases and little boats kinda like a ghost or a mongoose

A mac cannon is a gant railgun that fires slugs at extream velocities. Go of h2's first level,when the mac starts fireing, turn the volume to max, think thats loud, thats olny a fraction of what it really is. You would go deaf if you where less then 51 kilometers of it, dead in 48. all the fish in the oceans would die, anyone swimming would die too. use that stuffing in between you ears for something other than keeping yout helmit on.

And some plasma in the water would destroy it pretty quickly.

Were it so easy.

Thats a genius idea! I'd love something new and different like that! Bungie should definately consider this!

The search bar is like a DMR.

Anyone can use it effectively if they try.
Smart people do use it effectively.
Idiots don't, then complain about how it doesn't work.
The only problem is that, the DMR is used in Reach, but the search bar isn't used in the Reach forum.

Four shots, four kills, reload, repeat. This is the work of a sniper.

I remember a thread exactly like this during the wait for Halo 3's launch.

And Halo 2's.

@ Bullet Sponge:
Have you seen the book called The Art of Halo 3? There is concept art of actual boats in the UNSC Navy. There was a aircraft carrier over a mile long in the book.

boats can launch are supports.in real live we got freaking nukes so is the navy now usseless dont forget the radar in space might not be able to track down a sub(way XD) so unsc troops hide there covenats lands and nex second a hightech sub launches a group of LS(it is possible because our antlantic is pretty deep) then they might even fire a special nuke (like those air plains of the germans) thats is undetectable for the covenant so ships are actual not such a bad idea and who says that this is inpossible think about WO I and II and then think about the fact this plays of in 2228(around first conevenant attack) and 2253(halo 3)

Elephant=Whale

hornet=flyiin fish(epic lol)
mongoose=shrimp
warthog=dolphin

also there was a human war before the covenant thats were the spartans were meant for but then the jolly friendly covenant comes and wants to erase the human race

Well first off, if water vehicles are redundant becuase of space cmbat, wouldnt that also make ground vehicles such as tanks void? yet we still have those.

An underwater MAC wouldnt work beacuse as we know water is infinately more dense than the vacuum of space (where MACs are supposed to be used) and would be about as much use as a big slingshot due to the amount of resistance.

Conbat dingys would be fun yet realistic but subs and aircraft carriers arent feesable as they cant just be lifted out of the water and stored in a hanger easily for use on other planets.

For water vehicles and maps to work there would need to be significant land mass that connected both sides and land vehicles too.

They could make a massive map that would be 12-16 players a team with an even amount of land and water vehicles. One base could be on land and the other could be on the water. It could be good on CTF.

The bases HAVE to be connected by land. Otherwise I can just destroy your boats and its impossible for you to get my flag.

I see your point and your right and I still think that the map would be good for that game mode with the land that connects the two bases.
