Poll: Should we have overheating turrents in Halo Reach?  [closed]

No, let it be...:  72%

If there where overheating turrents, it would be alot more balanced and far less annoying when someone on the back of your warthog shoots rapidly for no damn reason making your controller vibrate (if you even have vibration on) while your driving. So what do you guys say?

I think it would be stupid as hell. First of all, turrets don't overheat in real life. Second, it wouldn't feel like a Halo game. Warthogs are fine the way they are. And the only reason you're complaining is because you're tired of controller vibration? Just turn vibration off!

What is a turrent? I believe you meant "turret." And yes, I would like overheating turrets on vehicles to stop those idiots from holding down the trigger indefinitely. It would also be a good balance for the overpowered warthog turret as it existed in H3.

Your friendly and eccentric Sangheili forum-poster. :)

Nah, we should have a reload function in the turrets.

An ammo counter would be good. But not overheating. That's just annoying and unrealistic. Maybe 600 rounds per turret?

Yes but then they need to be stronger as well.

I don't think the turrets should have finite ammo (unless it's detached), but having a reload sequence every 600-700 shots or so wouldn't be bad.

no it wouldnt make it balance at all. you get plenty of sticky nades rocks lazers and nades vs over heating hog which overheat in 10 secs not fair at all. the reason why people shoot for no reason is because the chaingun is at full rotation shooting faster also think about it this game is set in the future the guns might no overheat.

i would probably deal with this idea it would call more more strategy but make sure you can keep the gun going for more than 1 minute then that would be good. make 10 secs reload which would give time for the other team to collect their thoughts and regroup

because turrets is a desease

I think the turret should stay the same. Plus if you don't want vibration, just turn it off.

Because Bungie didn't expand on the Sandbox with an array of Anti-Vehicle weapons and equipment or anything.

Also, don't be a jerk. You knew what he was saying, don't try to elevate yourself by correcting his spelling mistake.

Warthog Turrets overheating, this is pretty much what Bad Company does, and its fine. However, the Guns are extremely effective. So if the balancing of said mechanic implied that the bullets were more powerful in short bursts, well I don't think that would be great.
Actual miniguns can fire pretty extensively.

I would be in favor of leaving the Warthog alone, there are plenty of counters to the Hog. It does not need a nerf to the turret. But the Gauss Hog, that needs a longer interval between shots, or more frequent but less damage.

  • 07.23.2009 1:03 PM PDT

No, it wouldnt be halo if the the warthog turret overheats. A toned down warthog turret would be fine, but not one that overheats.
