You can't kill what's dead.

Stand. Fight. Resist. S2F.

Why does everyone think the planet in the Reach trailer is the one in the Halo 3 secret ending? In the trailer, the planet is clearly populated with people and a UNSC space structure orbiting the planet. In the legendary ending, the planet is seems to be devoid of life and I can't see any UNSC ships, elevators, etc. in the trailer. Plus, if the planet in the secret ending was the one in the trailer, don't you think SOMEONE on the planet would have picked up the Chief's ship entering space near the planet? I mean, people on UNSC planets look for those kinds of things to watch for the Covenant. Somebody would have clearly been sent to investigate, telling me that the planet is NOT the planet in the Reach trailer. Also, I believe Kim confirmed that Halo: Reach is a prequel, but it seems like everybody is still coming up with theories, so maybe that's just all in my head.

It's surprising, but the time travel theory is the ONLY link between the secret ending and the Reach trailer. But really? Time travel? Stories based on time travel are just filled with hundreds of loopholes.

The one and only Tinman

I agree with you. Reach is a prequel and a time travel idea is not a good idea. Plus Cortana does say it will be awhile before anyone finds them. So don't you think if they ended up near Reach that a human ship's beacon would be noticed right away? Even if Reach is glassed over and probably not used by UNSC they would still be able to pick up a beacon near it and investigate it.

Very true. Although glassed, I'm sure the UNSC is still observing Reach. I mean, it WAS there most powerful military planet, so why would they just ignore it after it's been glassed? There could still be survivors. Even if there isn't any reason to watch Reach, the planet is so damned close, so a beacon would not take YEARS to be picked up. And even without reason to watch it, I'm sure the UNSC would still pay attention to it.

You do realise that you can't go further than the 60th minute in an hour right?

Yeah ok, maybe not in Canada...

I wouldn't expect the UNSC to be observing the planet Reach because the Convenant found Earth. But, ONI probably still has some of their people in the ruins, checking out the Forerunner markings and such, that weren't glassed. Bungie made sure they left the door open for Halo 4 if they decide to make it.
