When I play Multiplayer games online I have a huge problem. I can seldom finish a complete game because the game closes down on its own. I get the message, "This game has closed down". No explaination, nothing...just...."this game has closed down".

What it the hell is causing this?...network settings?...can't seam to find it there....soemthing in Halo?

I've been playing for about 10 months and this problem has always been there.

It is really frustrating to get a great score going or even be in the lead and have "This game has closed down"!!!!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

dude, that doesn't need an explanation, you just join games when the host has to leave, so the game closes down. i recommend that you try and join dedicated servers.

I would like to think that would be the answer but the games aren't actually closed down. I can go right back and find the game and join again. Everybody else is still there and they have all their scores.

PC

In fact, the game I was just playing on }SOC{ server .........HAPPENED AGAIN....

"ATTENTION
The game has closed down"

Happens on any of the public servers, Bungie, {HA}, Unison, MO, etc. so I know the games arent actually closing...

It might be you losing your internet connection momentarily. When they were building new homes in my area and messing with cables the internet would die for less than a second, and I'd get that.

if it was a network problem, the error message would say "nework connection lost", not "the game has closed down". The host just shut down the game right before you joined the game.

If it's right back where it was, you just probably lagged out. If you can, get a better ISP, and in either case try to join dedicated servers with lots of bandwith.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I have great band width - broadband- I almost always have the lowest ping. So its probably not "lagging out", I think.

Sometimes I get the "network connection lost" but not very often.

Could it be a software problem, like a firewall of some sort?

Do you use wireless or are you wired that can also effect how consistent your connection is.

I've disabled the Windows fire wall.....
Network is wired (not wireless)......

BTW, it just happened again!!!!

I was kicking ass on a good Death Island race...and BOOM...."The game has closed down"....pissed off, I went back and the game was still going strong...now WITHOUT ME!!!!

I go by the name "mayonaisse" (lately) so if I'm playing and I suddenly quit, it is not my fault. really.

Does your user have administrative privleges?

if the problem was on his end, it would specifically say "network connection lost". If the error is usually "the game has closed down", then the problem is on the host's side.

I can go back to the game and it is still going on.....

"Does your user have adminstrative privliges".......................not sure what this means so cant answer it.

"if the problem was on his end, it would specifically say "network connection lost". If the error is usually "the game has closed down", then the problem is on the host's side."......................................If this were true why does it happen to every host?

I had this problem for a little while too, it ended up being my connection. Have you tried to re-sync the cable modem? (unplug it for 1 minute and let it restart). And yes it did say "the game has closed down", which I know it didn't since I was paying with my friend who immediatly called me and said the game was still going on.

I had to have my cable company come out and run a new line, they said that the amplifier going into the house was having problems, and the original installers just spliced one of my regular cable lines instead of running a dedicated line for the broadband. Haven't had a problem since.

Hey, maybe that's my problem. I was the first person in my neighborhood to get new cable, now everyone has it. Not to mention the speed seems decreased. I'll but them a bit. At any rate, the unplug of the modem may be good, too, so I'll try it and see what happens.

Either way, just know you aren't the only one with a problem.

My network connection might be the problem. Sounds like it is certainly a possibility. So if it is.....what should I tell my ISP? Maybe your amplifier isnt strong enough? Need a new line run to the house? Need a new modem? Any specifics would help.
