Subject: ODST pistol realization, HCE again? and the Mauler?

Okay I had a realization for the pistol in ODST a few weeks ago, the BR is not in because it would be redundent but because since you could not dual wield as bungie had made so in the game, they wanted to use it rather as an all purpose weapon since dual wielding is not in the game. On their own, the SMG, Plasma Pistol, Plasma Rifle, and Spiker are all effective on their own. The Pistol in Halo 3 was normally good on its own like in team slayer, it could help you nail those other guys at a bit longer range then the AR, but it would only be semi-effective in H3 ODST if it was just the same M6G pistol, people would just use the BR and the Pistol would entriely become a worthless weapon in this case because both are capable of headshots but the BR would just gain range over the pistol and there would be no contest between them. The M6C/SOCOM was made for the reason of all weapons being able to fit a nice job.

Since the game is basiclly going back to Halo CEs gameplay but with more stuff, even though you play as an ODST I like to think of you more as a Mark 5 Spartan why? Well your Stamina is your shielding system, it recharges and protects your life. When the Brutes throw power drains at you, mainly it should effect your stamina not your life as with regenerators, your stamina is restored not you life. You get life back from the medi-gel packs and I think it regenates on its own too but at a very slow rate. The equipment is basiclly just going to effect your stamina like how it only effected your shield in Halo 3, not your direct life afterwards but in Halo 3 it was basiclly recharging life.

Now since you cannot dual wield in this game, what does this mean for the mauler? The shorter ranged, not as powerful, less ammo holding cusion of the shotgun? Well the old buck-shooting friend is still in and powerful as ever but what does this mean for the mauler? Is bungie going to to something like make it hold more ammo just to keep it as a used weapon? The weapon was only more effective when dual wielded because in Halo 3 the only real methods of using it alone were to shoot and beatdown or stay in closer areas and around corners due to the very short range of the weapon. The shotgun was much better for surprises and close assaults.

1. im pretty sure bungie made this game as a nod to halo 1

2. the mauler is the same, i'm pretty sure. i dont think the mauler should be in the game at all, it's basically a less powerful shot gun.

Your right. It takes a mauler shot plus melee, but now you must do that and punch him another time. Before you finish your combo you're already dead.

It gives the Brutes a close range weapon. Also, if you can't find any Shotguns...
