Why are people so against a more campaign focused halo?

That's what ODST seems to be. A full campaign with an open world acting as a hub and then an extra game mode of firefight. I just don't get the problem with a focus on the story part, do people only like multiplayer today?

When I hear people talking about Firefight and the 3 new maps being the main part of this game I cry. Yes, firefight will likely be addicting and of course I want some new maps for Halo 3, but come on now, the campaign is the obvious center-piece.

I'm interested in both the campaign and the multiplayer. It's a new way to play and a new story.

I don't keep going and going and going and...

A well-built sniper rifle is a beautiful thing. Mine has two separate levels of zoom: 'Up-close-and-personal' and 'Hello-you're-dead'.

I want both want awesome multiplayer and a good campaign.

Why though? Does every single game need both?

well lets see if we want to make a good game, then you have to make both a good campaign and a good multiplayer
if you make a bad campaign but a good multiplayer the game is hmm...what's the word? oh yeah BAD

otherwise this game better have a good DAMN story this time than halo 3, halo 2 campaign > halo 3 campaign

So if a game has no multiplayer it is automatically a bad game?

i do think they should focus more at campagin cuz the muliplayer is awsome

Recon armor was not gifted or bestowed upon me. I earned it through blood, sweat, and tears. Road to Recon complete, on to the next challenge. Halo 3: 1750/1750, ODST: 1000/1000, Reach: 1400/1400.

Yea, that's what I was thinking.

Especially in ODST's case as Reach is only a year away. A completely new multiplayer would be awful so quickly.

Campaign probably is the most important part of the game for me. Like for instance, I didn't like Halo 3 campaign that much so I don't play Halo 3 that much because I enjoy owning AI with my friends while having a good story to follow along with.

and how!

I'm all for a bigger and better campaign. Multiplayer is a bonus, not a must. The people that are all up in arms about there not being a dedicated multiplayer for ODST are the kinds of noobs that buy games solely for the multiplayer aspect. In my opinion, that defeats the purpose of the game in the first place.

A game designer's biggest worry is story and gameplay. Multiplayer comes after those.

I think people are more pissed at the fact that we are paying the same price for something that isn't equal to Halo 3. Even though it has an equal price tag

I think that if it were a lower price tag, not extremely low of course, but lower. I am pretty sure the animosity would lower and things would smooth themselves out

Campaign > MM for me. Firefight is straight campaign style action and I'm going to play the hell out of it.

Ownagee

Because people get bored of the campaign after you beat it once, they want a game with replay value. I like campaign, but multiplayers what keeps me going.

Fair.
But the thing is, Halo 3 has way more content than just about every other game. You can't say that just because it doesn't have as much means it's not worht full price.

The majority of popular games have less content than ODST really. Assassin's Creed, Left 4 Dead, etc.

Vancouver BC, Canada.

A lot of time and thought is put into the Campaign, but I think more is put into Multiplayer.
