Poll: Should Kneeling Improve Accuracy in Halo: Reach?  [closed]
Yes, Bungie should consider this:  63%

No, Bungie shouldn't waste their time:  37%

Simple enough question. It is a well known fact that the steadier your position, the more stable your firing platform becomes, which increases your level of accuracy when firing. So should Bungie consider slightly decreasing the recoil and spread of weapons when a player kneels to shoot in Halo: Reach?

Is it soon enough to suggest something like this? Maybe, maybe not. But hey, we can give an opinion about something regardless of whether it has any chance of becoming reality, so let me hear it.

EDIT: (Note, this is not to say your movements would be any less fluid than what we've all grown used too, it would be a change soley on the accuracy side of the game.)

EDIT: There seems to be some confusion about what I meant when I said improving accuracy. For those who are too lazy to read even the first page, allow me to quote myself so as to hopefully clear that up.

This isn't about moving recticles. It's about slightly reducing recoil and bullet spread.
ARs have a spread. BRs have a spread. Spikers have a spread. Were this suggestion put in place, that spread would be slightly reduced by kneeling, and weapons that have a lot of recoil causing your weapon to start aiming skywards (ie Halo 2 SMG) would either do so at a slower rate or not at all.

No. Halo has always allowed your aim to be normal even when in a vehicle. I'd rather that stay.

Spartans are strong enough and stable enough that kneeling would not increase their ability to steady a weapon.

Don't think of it as taking away from your regular aim, but rather giving an advantage to being in a fixed position. Accuracy in exchange for mobility. (Note, this is not to say your movements would be any less fluid, it would be a change soley on the accuracy side of the game.)
This would not be on a large degree, (although it could be,) just enough for seasoned players to notice the difference.

To be frank, it doesn't matter how strong you are. If you try to compensate for a weapons recoil, your shots are going to be worse than if you hadn't. Any marksman will tell you this.

Just suggesting a touch of realism, which Bungie is free to pronounce unnecessary on the basis of it being a video game.

It wouldn't make a difference there isn't a aiming reticule thats gets bigger as u run this isnt Solder Front or CoD4 so I don't see the point.

As you can see from the OP, this isn't about moving recticles. It's about slightly reducing recoil and bullet spread.
ARs have a spread. BRs have a spread. Spikers have a spread. Were this suggestion put in place, that spread would be slightly lowered by kneeling, and weapons that have a lot of recoil causing your weapon to start aiming skywards (ie Halo 2 SMG) would either do so at a slower rate or not at all.

I vote no not because Bungie shouldn't waste their time, but because we simply don't need it. Halo's aiming system is entirely dependent on the accuracy of the weapon, and running or being in a vehicle doesn't decrease that. It'd be useless.

he already said this wasnt about taking accuracy away, just giving it a boost.

As long as it doesn't mess with the arcade gameplay of me running and gunning.

No, what a marksman would tell you is to breath at the same level as your heart is beating so your hands don't shake and you will have a almost always steady aim.
Actually, a marksman will tell you to have a steady position, breath normally, aim center-mass, slowly squeeze the trigger, and have a good follow through.
I've been firing my rifle for years, I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about.

One problem: You stand as soon as you are hit by a bullet.

I don't remember that even happening in Halo 3 much less a game that's not even finished being made yet.

I suspect this may be an untruth.

I am definately for this, as kneeling -would- increase one's accuracy in reality. And also, in ODST they are removing the scanner, so if Reach dosent implement the scanner either, kneeling would have no effect, except for, well, kneeling. So the accuracy boost would help a thousand-some.
