Subject: Should Kneeling Improve Accuracy in Halo: Reach?

Posted by: Emaster577
I am definately for this, as kneeling -would- increase one's accuracy in reality. And also, in ODST they are removing the scanner, so if Reach dosent implement the scanner either, kneeling would have no effect, except for, well, kneeling. So the accuracy boost would help a thousand-some.

It would help if you get the jump on a player at far range, and need the extra accuracy with your SMG. Of course, at least until they turn around. Then you have to stand up and start strafing for your life.

For years? My uncle was in the Vietnam, he knows what he is saying too you know.

Yes i marksman would say that too, but unless you do what i told you to, your hands are gone keep shaking are you're gone miss. This isn't Call of Duty. . .

Yes you breath normally but if you where in war [like my uncle was] and you where in a extreme situation your hearth would be pumping crazy and if you would breath normally the blood would go through your veins too fast and just make your hands shake.
I've been in war also. Trust me on this, I know what I'm talking about.
Breathing as fast as your heart is going in a high stress situation dramatically increases chest motion, and the ripple effect on your hands is increased along with it. If you start breathing really fast, your aim is going to be worse, not better.

Perhaps you are misinterpreting what your uncle told you.

One problem: You stand as soon as you are hit by a bullet.
.....
I don't remember that even happening in Halo 3 much less a game that's not even finished being made yet.

I suspect this may be an untruth.

I use toggle crouch, and as soon as you are shot by a bullet, you stand, presumably the intent is that now that you have been found, you would want to run the hell away.

Well that doesn't happen with the normal hold too crouch.

Ah. I use the press and hold method so that explains that.
It's theoretically possible Bungie could disable that reaction\function in Reach, or make it another option in player customization. (Auto-Stand when shot? Y \ N)

Indeed, indeed, indeed.

Bungie could very easily remove the "OUCH! I got shot now I gotta STAND UP!" reaction, I am sure.

I'd like it to stay the way it has always been.

Armor Lock isn't overpowered. You just suck at Reach :)

Reach isn't bad, you're just a BK :)

For my gamertag, look up "Ghoulishtie"

No.

Hm.. I have to admit adding many of these new features may sound great, like piling many games into one great game, but we all want Halo to remain like Halo, and nothing else.

Just remember that.

Hell, just call it call of duty while your at it, jesus, all some people care about are things that make halo more and more like call of duty, just go play call of duty if you wanna crouch for accuracy

Someone woke up on the wrong side of bed this morning.
Calm down guy, it's just an idea. Agree or disagree, you don't have to get your panties in a knot.

And if it makes you feel any better, I didn't get this from any CoD game. Call it a flash of inspiration stemming from real world experience.

Halo is Halo, we need to stop changing Halo before it does another jump like Halo 2 to Halo 3.

Halo is a fast paced game, theres no time for someone to crouch to steady their aim, just get better and you wont have to.

If you're cross map BRing, you have plenty of time to crouch. Crouching would then reduce the BR spread and help you eliminate your target quicker than if you hadn't. Or if you're helping your teammate, and the enemy isn't firing at you than if you knelt you would land more bullets and thereby help your teammate more efficiently.

And I'm plenty good already, thanks.

Are you saying Halo 3 should've been an exact replica of Halo 2 but with different campaign missions?

Halo 2 is not Halo 3.
Halo 3 is not Halo ODST.
Halo ODST is not Halo Reach.
New games should have new stuff, otherwise it's not really a new game. And it's not like this suggested change will suddenly make Halo unhalo-ish. We won't have shields in ODST, (which is a lot bigger change gameplay wise than what's being proposed here,) but that's still Halo.

I think it is a valid suggestion. I don't think it should make enough difference to mean that it is impossible to hit someone standing up. But Linda from the books always gets in some kind of position like that. I think it should make a little bit of difference like, the consistency of bullet accuracy. Like in Halo 3 if you shoot a Battle Rifle at a wall from far away then look at the bullet holes they will be slightly scattered, or with an Assault rifle it gets less accurate the longer you hold the trigger. I think it should be used in that way, but not in the way that most "war games" use it in the fact that you can't shoot anything unless you are in that position.

Spartans are strong enough and stable enough that kneeling would not increase their ability to steady a weapon.
To be frank, it doesn't matter how strong you are. If you try to compensate for a weapons recoil, your shots are going to be worse than if you hadn't. Any marksman will tell you this.

Just suggesting a touch of realism, which Bungie is free to pronounce unnecessary on the basis of it being a video game.

To be frank, mechanical strength can easily keep an automatic weapon from moving, Spartans have that strength. There is a difference between being ripped and being a Spartan. I guaranteed a Spartan can handle the recoil of any handheld weapon while moving and see no accuracy changes.

You do realise that you can't go further than the 60th minute in an hour right?

Yeah ok, maybe not in Canada...

Not if you're playing as a Spartan. Unless you are Linda your aim is about as good as it gets, 100% of the time. If we aren't playing as Spartans, it may be worth while.

Umm... hello!? Halo is paritally about jumping and basically doing acrobatics to an extent.

Anyway, realistically, as canon, it wouldn't be right. I'm sure a spartan isn't affected by recoil.

Realistically, it would be completely right. The question is not whether a Spartan is affected by recoil because they are. The question is whether this video game should or should not depict that in the fashion stated by the OP.

why was this on the second page? there are like three different threads on the br and five or so about how reach will be the last halo game, but a new idea like this gets pushed back?

Yeah. Stood in the crouching position needs to have a point to it rather than just looking cool.
