I'm not sure, but i think I'm finally getting bored of playing as MC(i still love him). Don't flame me its my opinion, and you have the right to yours. Express it here.

i think it would be cool if you played as chief every other level and played as a different spartan on the odd levels. (i choose #2)

I did not read the books, but whomever is the main character of the Reach event should be who is played. Character swapping is fun and all, but not if their irrelevent to the story. Why? Because you want to build a strong bond with the main character, just like how everyone loves Master Chief.

i read the book specific to this game. Chief is the main character, while other spartan comrades fight alongside you. so in this case, people already have a strong bond with chief, in my opinion. but i really like your opinion coming from your perspective.

The MC isn't even in this battle. It's been awhile since i read Fall of Reach, but i believe the main character is a spartan named Fred.

i remember clearly a "john 117" being in the story. maybe hes not the main one like you suggest. i may be wrong. but i know hes in the book, if not the game.

He is in the book, and some of the story is from his point of view, but he does not participate in battle. He assigns Fred (forgot his service tag) as squad leader.

Instead of swapping main characters, I think that there should be ONE character that you play all the time, but the other Spartans are tied with you in some kind of squad AI. Like you can command the other spartans to do simple things, like cover, or form up, or etc.

Yes, this has been discussed in different threads, and i think it is a good idea.

cool idea, but id rather keep halo the way it is (gameplay mechanics wise)

  • 07.24.2009 7:22 PM PDT

As do i.

  • 07.24.2009 7:22 PM PDT

It is still something to consider, but i believe Bungie will keep halo the way it is.

  • 07.24.2009 7:24 PM PDT

Aye, I think Halo should remain the way it is, but theres no reason we cant give Bungie some funky ides to play around with! You never know what they might come up with anywho.

chief left the reach system right before the battle of reach fired up, he was in space the whole time he was there to. i do not expect to play as the chief, i expect to play as one of the spartans that are on the ground when chief left, maybe even an odst thrown in.

I believe he briefly returned to find the battle lost. Upon retreating, he stumbled upon the first halo ring. There arent really any other characters critical to the story you could play as besides Fred.

Yes, but I'd like to switch between Spartans in-game. Judging by the look of things, these guys usually stick together, so that won't be a problem.

Kind of like the first ghost recon, where you could switch between squad members to do different jobs. That would only happen if reach turns out to be a tactical fps with control over your squad like we mention earlier.

Ah, I don't know Ghost Recon too well. But I've read somewhere from some website (someone linked me in Xbox Forums) that Bungie said Halo Reach will be running on a different engine, so I dunno what the game is going to be like.
