You have some good ideas, just they seem to be more akin to CoD than Halo (as nearly everyone has said). I'd love to have 'abilities' like that, just on a smaller scale. And how would spawns work? I would personally let you choose your spawn area (if it is under your control and/or neutral) a bit like StarWars: Battlefront. That game did spawns almost Perfectly. It would allow you to stay back and snipe, or storm the base, or just drive round on mongeese, all at your choice. Long gone would be the days when you would spawn in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but an AR and no transport when the Enemy was miles away, and you just want to get back in the action. Long gone would be the days when you wouldn't spawn right in the path of an awesome player's Killtacular (Spawntacular). Hopefully, long gone would be the days of spawning into the path of a Flying Warthog which has an great driver going for the 'Vehicular Manslaughter' that the announcer so eagerly... announces.

Any ideas?

It just depends on the kind of class system. I think a character based system would be the only class system that could work with Halo. Each character could have different, but balanced stats. And each character could have certain starting weapons you can choose from, but no power weapons or anything that would be ridiculous to start out with.

Iam enjoying Halo Reach and revisiting some past Bungie games, iam a big fan of Bungie and their online community.

If classes are a reality then Bungie will have to be extremley careful how they structure the set.

RAWR!

No one can say that this isnt an amazing idea but its not really halo..... that would be great for a game but maybe not halo. Im not sure but some ideas work and others dont, like calling in scarabs, all you have to do is get under them plus it would be kind cheap. But if there ever was a class game for halo this is how i would want it to be!

click it you know you want to

This is a great idea, its a bit like Battlefield:1942, it also has classes like this, but all the classes have the same base attributes and it just has different weapons and gear per class.

This is Halo, anything can happen, excluding time travel and RPG's, we shall have to wait and see what comes up in the beta.

I like your your idea on the star wars battlefront type of spawning which would fix alot of my problems which you mentioned all of them in the paragrapgh and its a good idea that I think would drasticly improve halo.

I don't think it would be like COD because they are all preset whereas you could choose your own perks in COD and overpower custom classes. The differing shields, speeds, health, etc. could be similar to what we can do in Infection (which is already essentially making Halo 3 have two "classes")

I do like the idea of having assigned spawn points. Of course, this would mean maps would be larger (Sandtrap may be the smallest size allowed with 12v12) and then it would be fine. Have certain locations of the map which would serve as spawn points, you can control them (in any gametype) to secure more spawn locations, otherwise you would spawn at your home base or you could choose to "squad spawn" (like in BF 1943) onto a person in your squad (party) to get right into the action.

Witty. I would have typed it as such:

What's wrong with sprint?

Its a trap!!!

The battlefield idea is interesting but I also think a Halo/Fallout like game would be great. Unlike fallout it will control like Halo 3. Because even though VATS in fallout was cool the shooting system was crappy overall.

So not to change button setup this game could use the Dpad and Start button for the extra options it would have over regular Halo games like start brings up the item/status screens. This game could take advantage of a class system through leveling like in Oblivion. So you could make your guy be a marksman, a heavy weapons expert, or a melee expert. A melee class for example can incorporate some stealth skills into battle like Halo 2s arbiters 10 second cloak to make melee strikes more viable or a temporary overshield and juggernaught your way through.

And for all you vehicle lovers a vehicle class will be made. Anyone can drive a mongoose but to drive better vehicles you need some skill. This will incorporate all Halo 3 vehicles and perhaps the Scarab can be included some how or the Anti Air wraiths. Also for the first time incorporate Halo wars vehicles in Fps. Ever wanted to disable other vehicles with an emp burst with the Gremlin? Punish other vehicles with the Cobra. Clear the air with a Wolverine. Be the ultimate force with the Grizzley. Rule the air with a hawk. Or just bash the enemies base down with a Locust. Rememeber some well set explosives, Spartan Lasers, Rockets and misslepods can take you out but so can it in regular Halo =)

Eventauly if you want to learn stuff in another class you would have to level more and eventually go beyond the class you started to make leveling more strategic. Like if i become a marksman I can't use as many heavy weapons right away and wont be as skilled as them. Like anyone can carry a magnum but the most skilled marksman can upgrade to the M6D Halo 1 pistol

This would be the games basic story. Covenant and Humans are fighting over some forerunner world when some kinda of tractor beam pulls them to a free fall on the planet. Humans and covenant fight for a while on the planent but later make a truce, but mysteriously can't find a way off the planent. Complex forerunner tech keeps any makeshift vessel created from entering orbit.

So basically this story could take place a couple hundred years after these events. So you could see how the population of Humans, Elites, Brutes, Grunts, Jackals, Hunters, Engineers, Drones all coexist on this world. Spartans are just a whisper after all of these years but perhaps there are some working behind the sences. Perhaps if you choose to be a human you can become an ODST and then go to a certain secret lab on the planent and undergo the Spartan 2 experiment to become one yourself.

Multiplayer for campaign can run up to a full party of friends to take on the campaign missions. I mean warthoging with your friend is always better then a computer AI doing it instead

Regular multiplayer could go two ways. It could retain the leveled up character and transfer every stat like endurance, strength and etc and the game can play more like WoW in that sense.

Or in the interest of staying a bit more balanced only what weapons you can use will be transfered over from campaign to multy. So even though a level 100 can use a lot more weapons and items then a level 1 he will still have the same shields and health as a level 1. So that way a pays play campaign and become more adept but people who play less dont have to feel completly overpowered and have a chance.

So this Halo would have more weapons, more vehicles, complex conversation and choices, a whole imersive world ready at your fingertips

well I read the book this isnt going to be Reach but I hope bungie makes a game like this in the future

Beware the smiley face! =D

Very good ideas, especially the class which includes BR and AR, not one or the other.

However, i think dualwielding for SMG's should be possible on MOST playlists, and all of campaign. Mainly because its fun, good for screenshots and reminiscient of Halo 2. Also for maps with a large amount of water, maybe basic boats like they have in Quake Wars?

Oh, and I think squad spawn could do with altering - it would result in some level of spawning behind people. In fact, its probably better it isnt used. At least it isnt choosing whatever spawnpoint you like - that would be insanity.

Apart from those few things, I like the template.

PS. I think you may take a bit too much from Battlefield 1943.

PSS. Could someone tell me what BF1943 is like? I haven't played it yet. I hated the other Battlefield games.

'Utrinque Paratus' - Ready for Anything

Hmmm, I'm not sure what to think. Bits I like, bits I don't. I don't like the carbon copies straight from Battlefield. Longsword bomber wing you can call in? At a support point? That's asking to be sued.

I like how this is organized but this is too similar to Battlefield. If you want a new type of Halo come up with a new unique gameplay system. I hate hearing people complain about how the game has been too similar to its predecessors and then suggest Battlefield. People have no originality. Maybe you could have done some unique classes, we have Brutes, Elites and Spartans. There could be classes specific to each species because each species has its own abilities. The different species would still be on the same teams, they would just give a new sense of variety to the class based system. I'd rather see Halo 3.5 than something similar to any other game.

I think if this game were to be made it would call for 32+ players.

Bubble Shield: the Bubble shield would be identical to the version in Halo 3, only would have a new design so that it rolls down hills as power drainers do.

They did this for the original design of the bubble shield for Halo 3. It didn't work too well, so they made it stationary like it is now.

  • 08.15.2009 6:04 AM PDT

Yes, really

i like the idea of large scale battles, but ii hate classes. halo should stay the way it is, but only make minor changes to the mechanics (boarding, dual wielding) if halo was squad based it would change the way the game is played to much, and wouldnt be as fun. but theres too much stuff going on to make a large scale battle (16v16 or even 32 v 32) without having dedicated servers for every game. i know you can do servers with PC's but i dont know if you could make a server for an xbox game.

so in short, non-squad based large battles would be be awesome IMO, but i dont know if it will work

Dude I don't care and my grammer is perfect.I used "Big", as you recall it to mak is specific."to not do...",is incorrect beause "do" is present tense/perfect(or future) when it was a past tense.

I don't like the idea of the call-ins being called in from a certain spot. Wouldn't that make all the action focus around the same spot?

And for the medium-long range UNSC weapon, I think we should replace the BR with the MA5K. Fully auto, but just as accurate as the br if burst-fired.

I hope this happens (well the general idea of it at least), because then we would have an excuse for Infinity-scale maps :D
