Ok, I've read First Strike, and its an excellent story, but I'm skeptical as to whether or not Bungie is going to follow the storyline exactly. I personally don't think there will be more SPARTANs than just the Master Chief in Halo 2. Tell me what you think (and why).

However, I could be wrong, and Bungie could have officially endorsed First Strike as the missing link between Halo and Halo 2. If so, could someone please link to a page where they confirm that First Strike is official?

lion, please don't act like a forum cop.

As far as other Spartan's go, I don't think there will be any more in the storyline aside from the Chief. I think that in general the inclusion of more Spartans in the Halo universe was a way of justifying the co-op campaign. That's just my opinion, though, and I could be wrong.

I havent read First Strike yet, but I say since Kelly is alive right? of what I hear. It would make sence to put her in the battle against the covenant. I mean, the covies are going all out on earth oubviously, maybe MC should get some help by an old friend. ( I've only started "The Fall of Reach", but I know who Kelly is. :P

Well at the end of First strike, wasn't there two left besides the MC? I'll have to check on that but I'm pretty sure there was at least one other one left on the ride home.

There are actually several SPARTANs left at the end of "First Strike" however expect one of two things to happen (and it can really be only one of these two). Either they will be incorporated into Halo 2 (which would make sense in light of the evidence for multiplayer co-op on Live, it would tie into the story allowing for more than one SPARTAN) or there will be another prequel book after the release of Halo 2 which will review how the Master Chief gets separated and put into the position he is in at the start of the sequel.

Just to let everyone who isn't sure know, all three Halo novels are completely official. They each have the Bungie seal on them if you take a gander. Do you really think Bungie would allow anything to be released that would falsify any part of the storyline or create mass confusion?
Just go to site such as http://www.bn.com/ or Amazon http://amazon.com/ . Type in Halo: First Strike into the search in the books catergory and you'll find all of the officializing information you need.
As for the poll... I'm more than sure that they will include some other SPARTAN besides the Chief. When you finish up the book it makes it clear that he is NOT the only one left. I think this might make more sense for the co-op mode especially. It never quite fit the story in the first Halo and maybe this is part of Bungie's way of tying it together better. It would be stupid not to include other SPARTANS after so blatantly hinting at it in the book.
The whole point of First Strike was to tie the two games together as seamlessly as possible and I don't think Bungie would include something like that in the book that wouldn't be implemented in the game.
Also halo.bungie.org has a link to a site with an interview with Eric Nylund, the author of Fall of Reach and First Strike. He talks about working closely with the Bungie folks. I'll give everyone who participates in this particular posting 2 WHOLE DOLLARS if there are NOT other SPARTANS in Halo 2.

Thanks TenaciousChief.

I'd never seen where Bungie had officially endorsed First Strike as being absolutely "what happened after Halo." I just thought that they would carefully guard that as one of their secrets, and that Halo 2 would begin right where Halo left off. But, if they've confirmed that First Strike is all true (in the Halo universe/storyline) then I see no reason to doubt anything in the book.
