Corn, Oil, and Wine... We need more wine...

Win match, 20... too many factors go into winning.

That system would be wonderful to take in to consideration. I believe that Halo 3 in general is great for it's system that it has now. But I agree, the experience system should be on the redo list and will greatly be improved if you may base the idea off that of COD4. But let's also take in to account that Halo has always proven it's self with every game. I know which ever system is implemented will be far more greater than the last as always.

Aut viam inveniam aut faciam - I will either find a way, or make one

That does sound like a great idea but, Bungie may have to change how much XP you need to make it as challenging. Like for example, to get to Gunnery Sgt. in Halo 3 you need...say 60 XP. If the XP system were that like COD, then to attain the same rank you would need something like 600XP or maybe 6000XP. So basically, what he/she is trying to get at is the time to rank up would have little change but, the means to achieve do. Ironic isn't it?

no call of duty is the worst game ever. earning a metal is a good but only if it is a hard one to get. capturing a flag or planting a bomb would be be bad cause people would kill teammates to get xp. then we would need a dumb prestige thing so people wouldent get bored. i hate to be mean but this would never happen... call of duty is the one who copys other games not halo

I think an EXP system like this would be a cool addition to Halo Reach, however this system would piss off even more people with that +10 exp for capturing a flag. Like when you bring the flag all the way across the map and then die, and then someone just carries the flag a few steps and gets all the credit... but oh well theres no use in not including this idea just because of one unavoidable drawback.

Medal: +2
Kill: +1
Win: +20
Objective: +4
Quit: -10
Lagout: -5
Betrayal/Suicide: -1

As for ranks,
Level = Win Streak/Old Rank/2
And If Exp (using above system, start at recruit) Is Level *(times) 10, put to 'Level' grade 1
If Level * 20, Grade 2
If Level * 50, Grade 3
If Level * 100, Grade 4
If Level * 500, Grade SPEC-OPs
If Level * 1000, Grade Septagon

So if I'm level 4, with XP of 145, Since There are 48.25 '4s' in 145, I'm a (Level 4) Grade 2.
And if I'm Level 50, with XP of 50000+, I would be 'Septagon General'. 50,000 XP equates to 2,500 wins With no bonuses.

Considering the 7777XP peeps on halo, we should have many 'Septagon' Members.

Any thoughts?

I would like to see the Halo 2 number rank system, a global/playlist experience system like in Halo 3 and a points system like in Gears of War. In Gears of War you get points for capturing objectives and each type of kill is worth different points but the points are just for show.

hmm aounds like a good idea but how are you going to make this happen?

why not just make it so betraying your teammate is like -xp more so than any one metal so so a flag plant is 20xp but a betrayal is like - 100xp wouldn't that fix that problem?

and as for accidentaly betraying someone in a regular gametype I see losing xp for that as a good thing. People who shoot without thinking will be forced to get better or lose rank and hopefully it will help with people who betray for weapons or just to be a {add swear word here)

Options for Betrayals:
Warning (Auto-boot Next time), -7XP
Punish, -5XP
Claim, (you take punishment) -5XP

I don't fail. I succeed at finding what doesn't work.

To Tippa:

The quit should be -5, sometimes it's just a bad game and you could have more fun in another. Or maybe you have an emergency. -10 is too high, alot of people don't quit matches to be jerks, some have legit reasons.

If anything the betrayal/suicide should be -10. A suicide demonstrates a lack of skill and a betrayal demonstrates someone who deserves to lose the points.

Great Ideas! This would be awesome if this is what they would use. But I think getting a kill should be worth at least 3 exp, Quitting and winning should be put down to 25 and -25 exp , If teams have below 3 people on them (Slayer is just an example for below team numbers) and you quit, you only lose 10 exp. Hopefully Bungie views this and takes it into consideration along with the customization thread.
