I'm sure many of you have heard of this problem before... my laptop is running an Intel chipset with only 64 MB of video memory and a 1.3 gHz celeron M processor. Nothing spectacular, I'm aware. But it does technically meet the minimum requirements for the game. So why exactly are specular, shadows, and decals blocked out from the video settings menu? Actually, there's a bigger problem: why are ALL characters in the game gray? It makes anything team-based very difficult to play, relying solely on the little green triangles above people's heads. The game runs almost lag-free otherwise, even with max (possible) settings.

Does anyone know of a way around this lock-out? A software patch, hack, etc?

To be honest, the requirements are really dumb anyway. That's to RUN the game - not necessarily to see color.

Anyway, integrated graphics can be thought of as an exclusion. They're much less powerful than a 64MB graphics card. And to be honest, a celeron is pretty weak, too, though it is a mobile - so consider it almost a pentium 4 M.

Ask vectorracer. He has a link to a download that lets you get at least some color.

Oh, and dont double post if you can help it. It just takes up space, and the more 1337 members of b.net consider that spam.

Nope... I still can't see the colors. It keeps telling me that "The INF file does not contain information for this system's hardware. Setup will exit." So... yeah. I got nothing.

heero139 is right it wont work for everyone sry. BUt at least it was worth a shot. go to download.com and in the search box type in your intel chipset number (example-845G)
then try to download different drivers and install them.

Latest drivers for my graphics (Intel 852GM, if you're wondering) have been installed, and still no changes. Is there absolutely ANYTHING else I can do, or should I just give up for the time being?

i used to have the same problem and then i found out that my intel extreme graphics driver would never let me see color . so i bought the cheapest bfg tech graphics card i could find(which was the gforce 5500 for 125.99 at walmart), diabled the intel craphics and got it to work. of course i only did this when all else failed. i mean, who wants to spend 125.99 on a small hardware piece with two cds? but most likely this is because your intel chipset is outdated or obselete and ive heard that the same thing happens to all the intel celeron processors(thats what my crummy comp runs on)

Recall that we're talking about integrated graphics.

1. A video card has its own memory.
2. Integrated shares system memory, so it creates bottlenecks and is sort of the pc's -blam!-, and get's treated very poorly :(
3. Usually a system with integrated isn't really decked out with lots of RAM - and then it gets worse since integrated shares it.
