Nah, its just my WTF alarm went off when I entered the thread.
Al the coddies cannot accept halo not being like CoD, that is where you come in making posts to try convince bungie to take the emphasis out of halos multiplayer.

I have played every Halo. Frankly, I think Halo starting sucking when Halo 2 came out.

I like CoD as one of my favourite games, and so is halo one of my favourite games.
You know why? Because their multiplayer playes differently. Giving it variety.

I know they play differently, but after 10 years of the same thing, Halo could try something new.

After all, nothing is really changing. It is just that now, you can select a balanced weapon to spawn with.

[quote]I dont want my 2 fav games to be like each other in the aspect of how its played.
Becaus that would be plain boring.

This is probably the only intelligent post that disagrees with me on this thread. Kudos to you. (No sarcasm).

While I understand your concern, even with classes, Halo would be different:

There would NOT be any:
-Gun camo
-Perks
-Kill streaks
-Aiming down sights
-Etc, etc.

The only similarity:
There are 5 custom classes that let you choose your primary weapon, and a side arm. And two grenades.

Everything else would be same as the previous Halos.

Do that which is right.

Halo is played for it's distinct feel and game-play. Altering that distinctiveness to be more like another game would remove some of the originality people keep coming back for.

I see what you mean now, you proberbly want to see how a Halo style game is played in CoD multiplayer, whitch is nothing bad, just imagination, which is infact good.

I myself would like to see the same thing but I wouldnt really like to see it put into one of its games.

But people like you, like the next game to be based on a new way of playing.

But people like me, would say to that 'well changing the style of play on multiplayer would change the game' Making me the type that keeping the aspect of play the same, make the good sequel/prequel (call me plain).

But realising your points that you have made (which are very convincing) I logically understand your descisions and I value them, also using common sense I see the point you are trying to make.

I understand.

Sorry if I was rather harsh. But 15 pages of the same, illogical reasons does get on my nerves.

But you understanding what I am saying is all I can ask for. And I personally do understand why you want Halo to stay the same, it is quite fun as it was in Halo 1.

Understanding breeds empathy, and empathy breeds peace. Thank you for understanding.

You know how many people would choose rocket launchers?

Even I would!

They don't even have to be slow.

The rockets can be inaccurate against infantry (veer off to the side, etc.), but have a slight vehicle lock-on. And they only have 2 shots.

They could take away the rockets area of damage so it is only used as an anti-vehicle weapon.

The thing that pisses me off is all the idiots asking for the generic Assault, Demo, Recon, Heavy kind of classes. People need to come up with something unique as opposed to lets have battlefield.

Your ignorance is showing sackhead. You, just like all the other people who put great ideas down because your afraid of change, keep referring to CoD because of classes. If I remember correctly, Halo CE was based off the same core concept of Quake and Doom. Shields, Health packs, map control, etc. Now, If your gonna go an rag on classes as being a CoD only thing, than your brain is about as messed up as a perv. Classes were around before CoD. Not as much, but CoD got it from somewhere. Infinity Ward didn't come up with the ideas for classes. The pioneers of videogames did.

All games are clones of another. The genre is repeatedly used throughout videogame history. From FPS' to Class based shooters, they were based off another game.

Also, how do you know it just the classes that you hate about CoD? Maybe the realism is what you don't like because it imitates Real world conditions. People die from a couple of bullets last I knew.

Even if you came up with a unique class, it would still behave like an Assault, Demo, etc. class. Even if you came up with this awesome idea for unique class, it would still have the same basic purpose of the generic classes we know.

If that's true then we don't need classes. Although Team Fortress 2 has semiunique classes

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

The problem many people have with the addition of classes is that Halo is known for not having a class dependent game. What made Halo what it is was that it was quite dissimilar from many games at the time. Halo did not rely on any armor upgrades or carrying 5 weapons at once. With recharging energy shields and the ability to only carry 2 weapons, it made play rethink their strategies for first-person shooters.

The addition of classes now would change halo's core, essentially.

Halo was the first console shooter. It got ideas from Quake and Doom, and improved upon them. Why should this be any different? Classes in Halo would be very interesting.

If Bungie balanced a few things to make playing in Classes on Halo fair, then I agree.
I agree with the fact that Halo started to suck when Halo 2 came out, Just because if there will be Classes in Halo: Reach, doesn't mean everything will change.
There will be just 5 Classes like the OP said and everything on Halo besides the Classes will be the same as it is for now.

  • 08.17.2009 9:45 AM PDT

Thank you for understanding. I'm glad you, along with a few others, have sense.

Just because we can make five custom classes doesn't mean that Halo has to be different. The maps just have to be balanced, and same with the guns.

You just ain't getting it, are you...

I play Halo for the style of multiplayer it offers. I like the maps to be populated with power weapons that your team has to aim for. I like everybody to start with the same weapon. For me, that is Halo. That is what I want from a Halo game.

You are comparing apples to oranges so therefore, those comparisons are null and void. If you don't want to play a game that isn't perfectly balanced, then why are you playing video games at all? Especially Halo.

Perhaps I can't say that the M16 is better than M14. If I pitched that claim to 100 people, 99 would agree, but if you feel that the weapons are too dissimilar for you to accurately compare them, that's fine by me.

However, the fact remains that there are elements of the game that are not be balanced. You would be a fool to disagree with me. And I personally don't believe Bungie could perfectly balance their game either. I want a balanced game.

I'm going to approach this from another direction.

Opinions.

Do you know what they are?

I'll assume you do.

You see, you can rarely change somebody's opinion. Do you think that by asking me which weapons could not be balanced that I'm suddenly going to say 'yeah, let's make Halo class-based!'

I sure hope not.

Now, I haven't read every page of this thread (far from it), but it seems to me that most people disagree with you. They play Halo, because it's Halo. They don't want to play a Halo game that feels a little like Call of Duty. And you can label them idiots or close-minded senseless drones, but the fact remains that if their opinion is that your idea is bad, that means they don't want Bungie to use your idea. You can't change that.

And Bungie are going to appeal to the masses, always. You wonder why 90% of games nowadays utilise only an eighth of the possible gametypes? You wonder why Grifball comes up as DBLEXP three times more than any other?

It's because Bungie appeals to the masses. And the masses want Halo to remain Halo.

And the masses make Bungie rich. Keeping it non-class based makes Bungie rich, and the masses happy, so that's what makes sense.

"Welcome to the Greatest Show Unearthed"

It could work I guess. People need to stop getting so worked up when someone suggests change. Also, stop comparing it to CoD. CoD is not the only class based shooter and it certainly isn't the best.

All we can do is wait to see what happens at this point.
