"This is Sierra-315, sir. We're pinned down by enemy snipers. Do you have a visual?"
"Roger that."
"Fire when ready."
-POW! POW!-
"Targets down."
"Roger."

Halo is all about equality in starting weapons. They'd never do this!

You have clearly though about this in depth. I think this would be a nice addition in perhaps a Social game or a double EXP weekend to see how it would pan out.

At least you can think.

Please we don't want them. This is HALO! Not COD.

I hate the class system in COD.

See it wasn't bad in the early COD games but in the new ones where you can make your own classes. That's dumb, you can spawn with overpowered weapons. and Perks and stuff NO.

KEEP IT CLEAN.

NOT COD!

speak for yourself.
I for one kind of like the idea everyone is always complaining about how other people are complaining about the game.

Maybe if there are classes it would be more fair instead of 8 people fighting over a sniper.

With those people not complaining maybe other people will not complain so much.

After all these years of default starting weapons and what not it might be kind of fun to give this a try.

Like Barrack Obama said its time for a change
Yeah. So did Hitler.

hey hitler was a good guy
he did alot of good things for germany

so he hated jewish people so what you hate people but hitler had the balls to do sometyhing about it

if you hated something and you had the power to you would probably do away with it to

So Hitler killing 11 million people he didn't agree with and bringing utter ruination to Germany and the rest of Europe makes him a good guy?

Stop it now guys.

  • 08.19.2009 9:23 PM PDT

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

We really don't need classes. The spawning weapons have always been fine, it's just angry, over-competitive people who don't want their kill/death to go down who complain. The other team spawns with the exact same weapons. It's even. If you hate a spawning weapon, rush for a better one.

Yeah, this sounds to me like you want to play CoD more often. And I believe they have just the game for you; Modern Warfare 2. You can pre-order the collector edition now at Game Stop. Anyway, I do understand what you're saying, but it just seems like a CoD fan wanting to play things his way rather than viewing it from an open prespective of the actual gaming mechanics introduced for Halo and its spin offs.

Halo couldn't survive off a class based system. Personally, the class system would completely remove one of the most unique aspects of Halo's multiplayer. Beside that, and I do love me some CoD, just because they do it, doesn't mean everyone should jump on that boat.

When I want to play CoD with its, more of an annoyance, class system, I'll put in WaW. But you really need to learn, games aren't all made to play the same, it would become a redundant bore. Halo is fast paced, frantic action. CoD isn't. And that's why classes work for it.

Now, I understand Reach will be a new game, but it's being made by Bungie, who can make better shooters that IW, but I digress, fast paced, high octaine action is Bungie's mastery, not slow and historical, or super realistic.

I think you should really think about both Halo and CoD, before you reach these types of conclusions, because then, you may just see why it won't actually work.

It's midnight right now so my response might not be very comprehensible, so please bear with me. And I have not ordered MW2, which I should because I doubt that it not sell out...But I have never bought anything more than just the game.

I do not want another CoD game. I want a Halo game that is different from the others. I play CoD, yes. But I also Play Halo 1, 2, 3, Lost Planet, GRAW2, etc.

Halo couldn't survive off a class based system. Personally, the class system would completely remove one of the most unique aspects of Halo's multiplayer. Beside that, and I do love me some CoD, just because they do it, doesn't mean everyone should jump on that boat.
I didn't suggest classes because of CoD. I suggest classes because allowing players to choose their preferred weapon at spawn just allows for more 'unique' encounters.

Halo is not that unique: Lost Planet, Quake, Doom, etc.

When I want to play CoD with its, more of an annoyance, class system, I'll put in WaW. But you really need to learn, games aren't all made to play the same, it would become a redundant bore. Halo is fast paced, frantic action. CoD isn't. And that's why classes work for it.
Sheesh, no wonder you don't like classes, you play WaW. Play CoD4. Much better.

Now, I understand Reach will be a new game, but it's being made by Bungie, who can make better shooters that IW, but I digress, fast paced, high octaine action is Bungie's mastery, not slow and historical, or super realistic.
That first sentence is debatable. It truly depends what type of game you want to play. If you want a fast paced game, play CoD4. If you want a slower paced game, play Halo.

Again, whenever I refer to CoD, I am talking about CoD4 and MW2, both of which were made by IW, not Treyarch

I think you should really think about both Halo and CoD, before you reach these types of conclusions, because then, you may just see why it won't actually work.
I have thought about, and by what I am reading, more than you have.

  • 08.19.2009 11:34 PM PDT

Clearly you haven't. You say you don't want CoD, but all of your reference points are CoD. Beside that point, Modern Warfare has nothing on the Halo franchise, as I have played it. I prefer WaW because I just find it to be a more enjoyable experinece. You just want Halo wrapped in CoD, which makes no sense to me, as that's why there is a CoD.

Halo is unique in its offer of frantic, fast paced gameplay. You are driven through most of the campaign, and the vehicles add a whole new prespective, another reason why classes just couldn't fly.

Again, though, you want CoD in space, so you won't be seeing the real ramifications of changing Halo's core components. CoD is realistic, thereby offer a more possible inclusion of balanced, slow paced gameplay. Not even MW gets that frantic, none comparable to the sights in Halo.

But, and this is the winning point; Halo is a science fiction, fantastic tale, allowing it to weave it's own type of gameplay and standards without adhering to CoD's basic, more careful and shoot approach. We have super soldiers with shields, gigantic enemies and sprawling vistas, and then we have cramped, tight spots that really shine with Halo's frantic, non-stop action.

Were a class base system introduced all of these factors, and several others, would take away the brand of Halo, and the reason so many people have fallen in love with it. I am by no means biased against class systems, they work for CoD. But realistically, they will not ever fly for Halo. Especially since all you really want is CoD in space, and for one, Bungie doesn't make Call of Duty.

CoD isn't a legitimate class-based game though,

It wouldn't work.
Not if you want to keep traditional Halo gameplay.

Traditional Halo gameplay can be found in 4 games. Play those.

Shut the -blam!- up. You expect someone to be content with just 4 traditional Halo games when there are so many non-Halo games? Go play something else with that attitude, you don't deserve a Halo game made towards your preferences if your not happy with the classic gameplay. Maybe you have just outgrown the Halo series and you need to leave it behind. You obviously don't want Halo you want something new. Maybe you should go get something new.

Who is this crazy darkpig guy anyway?

CoD in space is a great idea, both games lack something for example Halo doesn't have classes to mix it up and CoD, as InnerDemon117 said CoD is not nearly as fast paced as Halo 3. Another thing that made CoD so bad is that you have to earn classes but if they made a preset class CoD avalible with all the classes given to all players and make it faster so grenades arn't supid hard to dodge. I could ask the makers of CoD to change their game but it is more unlikely than Bungie giving out recon to everybody.

P.S. nice argument InnerDemon117 you deserve a cookie

I love how you did not directly respond to my response...

Hypocrite. How is what I am doing any different from you, or any other person on this thread who just denounces this idea?

I am using CoD as a reference point because it is the best custom class game I have seen so far. If another game was better, I would refer to it.

Halo is unique in its offer of frantic, fast paced gameplay. You are driven through most of the campaign, and the vehicles add a whole new prespective, another reason why classes just couldn't fly.
Halo is not a fast paced game. It is a medium paced game. I read that in a Bungie weekly update. Sadly, it was a while ago, and I am not going to spend the time to find it. Feel free to do so yourself.

And what the heck do vehicles have to do with this? And why are we talking about campaign?

Again, though, you want CoD in space, so you won't be seeing the real ramifications of changing Halo's core components. CoD is realistic, thereby offer a more possible inclusion of balanced, slow paced gameplay. Not even MW gets that frantic, none comparable to the sights in Halo.
Your so called 'argument' is so FLAWED on SO many levels. You don't even know how to classify a game.

Call of Duty 4 is a fast paced game. Halo is a Medium paced game. If anything classes will speed up the game play because players no longer have to waste time looking for weapons.

And you cannot just say "oh you want this cuxz u said this!" I do not want 'CoD in outer space' as you put it. I want a Halo game with a different style multiplayer.

What does this have to do with ANYTHING?!!?! For Christ's sake man the only thing I am saying is that we can create 4 custom classes that let us choose a primary weapon, and a side arm!

Were a class base system introduced all of these factors, and several others, would take away the brand of Halo, and the reason so many people have fallen in love with it. I am by no means biased against class systems, they work for CoD. But realistically, they will not ever fly for Halo. You seem pretty biased because your arguments have no basis what-so-ever. All you are doing is saying that classes won't work in Halo because you happen to be in a science fiction universe.

I think less reticle magnetism would fix some things,
That way power weapons on spawning would be toned down a bit more.
More battlefront/CoD ish, so the reticle is big and has nearly no magnetism when moving, small when stationary.

Reach MMO. Here's to hoping.

And the people that believe "the hardcore playlists would be more popular if the rules were strictly MLG" can come off it, now. If you're not willing to support something close to your own setup, there's no reason for us to believe that cloning our own lists and stripping the variety down will attract more people. -- Shishka, Bungie.net

This just wouldn't be Halo anymore.

Haha, just kidding I just wanted to say that again. It is just the classic, ignorant Halo CE lovers line. Wait, I got one more....This is not COD, this is Halo. Was that original or what! So many dumb people on these forums.

I'm still not quite sure why you don't understand this. I'll go ahead and try again.

We play Halo because it's Halo. If we wanted a class-based game, we would buy Battlefield, or Call of Duty, or TF2. But we don't. We play Halo. That's what we want to play.
