It's time for Halo to be realistic looking. No more cartoony art styles. No more spartans that look like flamboyantly-colored action figures. No more getting blown up and flying away completely intact with a ketchup squirt. It's time for realism. What I mean by this is not for Halo to turn into Call of Duty. I mean that Halo should have much more realistic details that add to the experience on a small scale. Such as realistic looking weapons, armor, structures, vehicles, etc. Also, animations should be more realistic looking. Such as weapons that reload longer when the full magazine is depleted, empty shell casings that are more shiney and noticeable, and other small details like cocking handles moving when a weapon is firing.
This is what I expect:
-Armor-
Spartan armor is a metal alloy, not plastic. So it should look more like metal. If it's blue, it should be faded and dark, not shiney and bright like a freshly painted car. As far as multiplayer goes, colors should most definately not be flamboyant. They're super soldiers, not action figures so they should look like they're ready to kill, not like they're going to a pride parade. As an addition, character colors could also implement camoflauge patterns.
-Weapons-
For UNSC weapons, I expect realism down to the smallest detail. Things such as cocking handles moving when firing, empty shell casings that are more noticeable, ejection ports opening and closing, reloads being different for when you completely deplete your magazine, and scopes that have a shiney translucent lense instead of an opaque blue lense (cough cough Battle Rifle cough cough). More audible things like realistic firing noises should be implemented. To name a few weapons that need a sound change, the Assault rifle needs more of a popping noise, the Battle Rifle needs a lower booming noise, the Shotgun needs a more hollow thumping sound, and the Sniper Rifle needs a lower pitched sound with a loud echo in the distance afterwards. Covenant plasma weapons like the plasma pistol, plasma rifle, and vehicle plasma cannons need to sound like less of a stereotypical sci-fi laser and more 'with the times'. As for explosions, I can only put it this way: More bang bang less pew pew.
-Vehicles-
The vehicles for the most part don't bug me in terms of realism. Although, like everthing, they could be improved. Not visually, but physiclally. Things like a single frag grenade toppling a multi-ton war machine are a definate no-no. The ability to toggle between first and third-person driving would be a very cool addition and would add to realism.
-Gore-
That's right, I said the G-word. I'm not talking about over the top horror movie-style gore, but realistic gore. According to Halo canon, MJOLNIR armor prevents most dismemberment. But, an arm section or half of a leg at a weak joint would most likely get blown off in a rocket explosion or tank shell impact; as well as chunks of armor falling off. This combined with realistic 3D blood would make Halo actually earn that "Blood and Gore" descriptor on the M-rating.
Halo: Reach is a new realm of possibilities. Technically outside of the trilogy, it doesn't have to follow it's standards. For once, Halo can enter the new times of realistic video games.
u know wat makes Halo a Halo game? its cartonish look and it looks that way cuz its a sci fiction game not realistic like Call of Duty theres 2 different games here CoD concentrates its graphics on real while Halo futuristic
