Since Bungie is getting rid of our ability to run in to a massive horde of Covenant aand live due to our ability to recharge shields.........why not in ODST give us the ability to use cover seeign as how we have the new stamina and health system i know some of you are going to say but they give you health packs but what happens when your low on health and you need to use cover to hide behind and lay down some fire to make your way to the health pack

The halo series has always had cover. You just hide behind any wall or large object. 'Nuff said.

"Apparently people don't like the truth, but I do like it; I like it because it upsets a lot of people. If you show them enough times that their arguments are bull-blam!-, then maybe just once, one of them will say, 'Oh! Wait a minute I was wrong.' I live for that happening. Rare, I assure you."-Lemmy of Motorhead

Yes, I'm the guy who had the Flood admit to being furries.

No. No and No. Bungie isn't going to include a cover system. To me, they slow down the game and just makes encounters easier to the point of which they are no longer a challenge.

Actually, we do have a way of recharging, but not shields. You have a thing called stamina, the redder your screen gets, the more hurt your getting. If you've ever been in a really intense sword battle, you'll know what I mean. Once your screen gets red enough, you start losing health, and will have to find a health pack or get yourself healed by other means.

Indeed.

And I think he means like Quantum of solace were its first person but you can enter cover in a 3rd person point of view

Cover systems are okay in certain situations, but they no way enhance a game.

Actually, I find that I'm more invincible without pants, which is why I am not wearing any at the moment.

First person cover system? No thanks. How would you be able to see approaching enemies while in cover?

lol he does need to learn about punctuation. oh and there is cover, just get behind a large, solid, preferably non flamable/non movable object.(i believe this was stated earlier)

<(0_0<) <(0_0)> (>0_0)>(>0_0<) .

That really wouldnt be a good idea because your just making halo 3:ODST more like r6v2, and who likes that game. I think that gears is the only game that actually works with the cover system, it's meant for it.

tru dat about gears, and halo wouldnt fell right with RSV2 or just a first person cover system.

If anything, ODST's should be able to utilize jackal shield for a certain amount of time, like with a battery like a covenant gun, MAYBE. I think they were going to use that in Halo 2, but something happened with balancing issues.

Go Rams and Missouri!

Actually, the Brutes have had a nice cover system made for them. Well, it might have been removed. I remember reading about it a long time ago in a Weekly Update.

Cover is fun in Rainbow Six and Gears but i don't think i'd want it in Halo. Not ODST anyways

  • 07.25.2009 10:18 PM PDT

Covering systems are more suited for Third person shooters gears of war for example. If they put that into halo it wouldn't fit right and it destroy the feeling of halo

Yep.

I think if they have Reach be a significantly more fast paced game (which I think is something they're gonna do), they'll make it so you can use them.

I'd like to see it be something where you have to essentially jack it from a jackal quickly and from there you have a short burst with it as it is only, well, a jackal shield.

Granted, I'm not a designer and even if I'd need to test it out with a prototype.

Yea this is true but it would make it more fun in Firfight because you could actually get in cover and plan how your gonna take on the three brutes on the right and 8 grunts on the left instaed of winging it and hoping it worx plus i wanna blind fire :D

  • 07.25.2009 11:09 PM PDT

There is a way to use cover:

1. Look at a car
2. Walk to car
3. Crouch be hind car
4. Reload
5. Stand up
6. Shoot enemy (until dead / if not not dead, repeat 3-6)

Your ODST cover system.

If you want to play a 1st Person Shooter with a cover system,
you could always just go pick up R6V2.
