Based on the canon, dual wielding is too much of a task for a normal human. Its not to obvious because these guns dont exist but they are effin huge. Only someone with the strength of a Spartan or Elite can hold two of these weapons at once and maintain good accuracy. My guess is that bungie is trying to keep it accurate to the universe.

First telling someone what the spoiler is in the title and then telling them its a spoiler? Are you mental?

becuz u arent as strong as the master chief. those duel weildable wepons are bigger than they look... the mc is bigger than the marines so the guns look smaller by comparison to him

Could you hold and fire a gun in each hand with the guns being the size of like your entire arm ...
Yah I thought so ... and dont forget the recoil

  • 07.25.2009 9:49 PM PDT

If you want to see the MC die, play Legendary. If you want to see MC finish the fight, play Halo 3. If you want to see MC finish the fight by dieing, why did you waste six years when you could have done it yourself right now?

Hey guys! Remember when Miranda Keyes duel-wielded SMGs in Halo 2. Or what about Halo 3? She held a pistol in one hand and a Shotgun in the other, facing 2 different directions!

And we can't do it? She's a commander, not a super soldier!

  • 07.25.2009 9:52 PM PDT

X74

and she is mind you shorter then a spartan and most of the time females are not as strong as males.

That is true but she was desparate and she wasn't aiming directly infront of her. It takes less strength to hold out two heavy objects off to the sides of your body than directly in front of you and actually aim properly. Plus, she wasn't exactly "aiming". The enemy was at point blank range, all she needed was enough strength to lift the shotgun to waist level and shoot.

I mean sure anyone can hold two weapons but is it effective? Realistically speaking... Is it even a smart thing to actually use a shotgun with one hand?

I wish I was still legendary.

Consider that canonically, a spiker weighs almost too much to hold in two hands. Also consider that a plasma rifle is actually huge for a normal person. Consider that a plasma PISTOl is heavy enough to need two hands to safely hold it.

See where I'm going with this?

notice she wasnt shooting the shot gun and pistol she was just holding them. and besides... any idiot could hold a shotgun in 1 hand but it would probably break thier arm(or rip it off) if they tried to shoot it and it is easier to hold 2 objects out to your side than to hold them out in front of you like you would do in the game. as for the smgs it was probably just for a short amount of time(a cutscene)(note:i havent played halo 2 so im not sure) cuz a machine gun, even a smaller 1 is still heavy and would be dificult to hold in a firing postion for longer than a few minutes and this game is susposed to takes place over several hours

Officially, it's because the Mark VI armor Master Chief wears can track two weapons at once. ODSTs obviously do not have the Mark VI armor, and you get the idea.

I just did that mission on Halo 3, she looked so hot with those guns and her angry face.

  • 07.25.2009 10:39 PM PDT

Moreso than body size and strength is the fact that the SMG and the pistol at least are scoped weapons. Can't scope dual wields. It would be a weird feeling and things like that.

EDIT: Granted I can't justify why you couldn't duel wield two covie weapons at the same time, but that may be a size and weight thing.

official by who, you? and no thats not why they had to go through some major and possibly lethal augmentations to be able to wear the armor which weighs a 1000+pounds? im pretty sure they could dual wield without them. so dont say anything is official if you dont know what your talking about

He's not talking about the fact that the guns are too heavy, he's saying that only the Mark VI armour can track the ammo count of two weapons at the same time.
Though I think the actual reason why you can't dual wield as an ODST is to do with the weapons weight. You can't hold a SMG in each hand and expect to fire accurately.
