Dual Wield

This is a picture of a marine holding a spiker... It's massive!
Imagine trying to dual wield anything around that size, you would need super human strength to hold two of them for an extended length of time.

One more thing, in the video, The ODST ripped a turret off it's mount, I thought Spartans + Elites were only strong enough to do this!?

MJOLNIR Mark V could not support dual-wielding due to the suit being unable to recognize a second weapon. Body Suits (ODST Armor) aren't better.

Being a leader comes with a reasonable price. You're expected to Lead those around you to victory, bring them home safely, or, as in most cases, a combination of the two. You must be fearless, yet cautious, and must always keep a level head even in the most dangerous of situations. Name's War. Welcome to the team.

Based on the canon, dual wielding is too much of a task for a normal human. Its not to obvious because these guns dont exist but they are effin huge. Only someone with the strength of a Spartan or Elite can hold two of these weapons at once and maintain good accuracy. My guess is that bungie is trying to keep it accurate to the universe.

well dual weilding didn't affect me much but I don't think ODSTs could be able to pull the turret off as well. I thought that was a spartan only thing. But I'm glad they left that.

  • 07.26.2009 1:46 PM PDT

Think Spartans reload from clips on there thighs on the suits when dual wielding so it would be hard for anyone else to reload quickly.

Uh, why the f.u.c.k can ODSTs rip turrets off their stands!? Their not that strong!

It. is. a. game.

Yeah, so why is duel-wielding a big deal? Spartans/Elites with turrets hobble along, yet the ODST's run? And they can use hammers!? Games should be a bit realistic dont ya think?

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

It turns certain weapons that were once usefull on their own into half weapons that are useless in most situations.

Spartans are from Venus and Elites are from Uranus

If you want a canonical explanation, normal human beings probably can't handle the kick back of two SMGs or at least one SMG in a single hand. So that would eliminate the SMG from the gual wield list. Same goes for the spiker and mauler. That and the mauler and spiker are probably too big to be dual wielded by normal humans. That goes for the plasma rifle too. Have you seen marines carry those things? The plasma rifle is huge.

As for the pistol, that thing is way to powerful to be allowed to be dual wielded. Sure it may be just campaign, but if you could dual wield those pistols it would practically eliminate any reason you want to use any other weapon.

So then we're only left with the plasma pistol.... Yeah, theres no reason you'd really want to dual wield just plasma pistols.

I wouldn't say dual wielding is really much of a loss. Especially in a campaign only game with just a horde esque mode to complement it.

Correct me if i'm wrong here but what about the Spartan laser, its designed for friggen Spartans (SPARTAN laser) true Sgt Johnson wields one at the end of Halo 3 but even the recoil for a spartan is rather significant (as seen when u fire it in camp or vrs), my point is if u can wield one of these Plus another weapon holstered (two weapons rule) why can't you hold say two pistols i mean the plasma one is wielded by untrained grunts, just limit what you can dual wield for example most covenant weapons are the size of a marines torso so they can't dual wield em (why then can u have a spiker or needler on your leg then as seen in the pictures).

Hey guys! Remember when Miranda Keyes duel-wielded SMGs in Halo 2. Or what about Halo 3? She held a pistol in one hand and a Shotgun in the other, facing 2 different directions!

And we can't do it? She's a commander, not a super soldier!

Did you actually see her shoot? Really, she could not take shooting that shotgun with one hand. She was just desperate and any possible injury from trying to shoot a shotgun with one hand probably seemed worth the risk with the entire universe at stake.

Evidentially the spartan laser's kick back in two hands isnt as bad as a large fully automatic weapon operated in one hand. What alot of people don't get is that kick back doesn't exist for every weapon in the world. RPGs actually do not have any kick back. So I'd say it's possible that the Spartan laser doesn't have a whole lot of kick back. And why would it? Whats the point of making a weapon that can only be used by less than thirty people in the entire UNSC?

I am a true halo fan. I enjoy all the games and give them a 10 out of 10.

I am making the brand new halo reach machininma

A few reasons:
1. The spartans have a targeting system built-in to their MJOLNIR Mark VI helmets that allows them to dual-wield accurately.
2. The weapons are actually bigger than they look when held by a spartan.
3. Nobody likes dual-weilding anymore. The only combos I use are the Mauler/Spiker and Mauler/Mauler combo.
4. Its a -blam!- Videogame
I have a theory that Bungie will remove dual-weilding from Reach as noone really likes it.

P.S. Is anyone going to miss the old pistol, although it's still in multi-, but its really good for beatdown/shoot combos.
