Subject: Do you want Halo to stay as it is, and not become Halo: Modern Warf...

i want them to bring fresh gameplay to halo: reach, whatever that might be. they're setting themselves up to make a different game, whether they realize it or not, and if they don't take the opportunity that they're making for themselves then they're f**king idiots. and if you actually want them to keep halo exactly the same then you, whoever you are who fall under this category, are also a f**king idiot, because you're going to pay 60 dollars for a game you already have (halo 3, in case you don't realize).

i swear, if this game turns out to have the same recycled gameplay as halo 3, then i've lost all faith in bungie, what little faith i have left. and i'm not saying make call of duty-halo with all of this elaborate BS. but come on, after three games that are near identical you'd think it would be about time to put a fresh spin on things, and what a better opportunity than with reach.

I think the ability to go prone would be nice but anything else would be really weak and I would lose respect for bungie because they would have ripped off a crappy game.

-I know what you're thinking, and it's crazy.
-But... what if monkeys really could fly?

In my opinion Halo already took a huge step towards COD and away from what used to be Halo with ODST. I don't mind though. A new perspective might just be what the game needs.

i do have to agree with the killcam idea beacause i die randomly like i am walking to get a br then BOOM i explode from the air or i spawn walk two feet and bOOM i explode the perks are dm and the only good idea is killcam halo needs to stay halo not modern warfare the next generation

If go for massive maps and classes i really hope the take the battlefield bad company approach to it. With a rush kind of gameplay so the action isnt so wide spread like in conquest.
And the mongoose is already a good vehicle to travel big distances. And squad spawning and team chat not that silence -blam!- you get with battlefield.

Halo is NOT COD, that is exactly why I play it more than COD.

  • 07.27.2009 7:18 AM PDT

Reach MMO. Here's to hoping.

And the people that believe "the hardcore playlists would be more popular if the rules were strictly MLG" can come off it, now. If you're not willing to support something close to your own setup, there's no reason for us to believe that cloning our own lists and stripping the variety down will attract more people. -- Shishka, Bungie.net

Does Halo need classes? No.

Will classes make Halo: Reach...Halo: COD? No.

Is change good? Yes.

Is using great ideas from other games good? Yes.

If Halo changes to classes will anyone stop playing? No.

Are some people making too big a deal of this? Yes.

  • 07.27.2009 7:27 AM PDT

If there were perks and classes than it wouldn't be Halo anymore, just go play Call of Duty. Plus Halo isn't Modern Warfare, the story is somewhere between 2525-2552(Im not sure about the dates) so this is "Futuristic Warfare" not "Modern".

This is pretty much right, we don't need classes.

Will classes make Halo: Reach...Halo: COD? No.

Maybe not CoD, more like, "Halo: Team Fortress 2 style"

Is change good? Yes.

Yes, Change can be a good thing, but this would be completely changing the way Halo is played. Not good.

Is using great ideas from other games good? Yes.

Not always. Just because something works good in one game, doesn't mean it will work for every other game. Besides, Variety is good. (Plagiarism much?)

If Halo changes to classes will anyone stop playing? No.

I can guarantee I won't be picking up Reach if it changes to classes. I've been playing Halo since '03, and This is way to big of a change. I'm a hardcore Halo fan, but I know for a fact bungie will lose customers if they make a swich to classes.

are some people making too big a deal of this? Yes.

The only people making a big deal out of it, are people who want classes.

Vancouver BC, Canada.

Bungie is smart enough not to shy away from what has become a very successful series.

1. If Reach adds classes it will not by any mimic of a game, it will still be Halo.

2. Drastic change in the Halo series is needed IMO, if they make Halo 3.5 I may not buy it. Riding the exact same playing style for 8 years is enough.

3. Obviously every great idea from every game will not work in Halo, but there certainly are MANY that would work. And it's not plagerism if it's not copy righted.

4. I would bet money you will buy the game if it has classes.

5. The people who are making a big deal out of it are the Halo purest group that thinks that Halo should only be played the way it was in Halo CE.

Okay just to clear a few things up,

I don't want Halo: Reach to be Halo 3.5, but I just don't want Reach to drift to far toward Call of Duty 6. I agree, as I said at the top of the thread that classes can work, but only if done correctly. If there is a create a class feature it will ruin gameplay, Classes will only work if preset and every class has an advantage over the other. There should be no superior class as this will be the only one that is ever used. If your Class has a Sniper it should be disadvantaged by by low shield recharge, weak secondary weapon and maybe decreased health. The reason Halo may not work with classes is because its weaponry is split into two groups. Small arms, and Power weapons. The power weapons are the ones you have to fight for.

And think about it, how many custom game variants would fall if there was no remains of the old Halo style. Cop's and Robbers, Infection, Team Rockets. I play Halo for it's Player Created content. I play it for Forge and it's map variants, for Theater and it's screenshots and film clips, and for Custom Games and it's gametype variants. I play Halo because it isn't the ultra realistic FPS Call of Duty is. Your right, Change is good, unless it's a Change for the worst. I would love it if it had preset classes and an option to turn off classes in Custom Games so we can remake the gametypes from we all play from Halo 3

If you want to see the MC die, play Legendary. If you want to see MC finish the fight, play Halo 3. If you want to see MC finish the fight by dieing, why did you waste six years when you could have done it yourself right now?

☼►Popular Fusion - Doing anything, everything, and then some.◄☼

You people are so narrow minded. Why can't I have both styles of play? Look, if this were done, it would be massively popular, but I DON'T want it to REPLACE the play style we have now.

I don't want Halo to become Call of Duty either, but I don't want Halo 3 a second time. But then again, I don't really care as long as there is a forge mode XD

i have an idea! instead of classes or some dum $h17 like that, why dont we have... a halo game?! great idea, huh?
Halo REACH isn't part of the original trilogy, why can't bungie experiment a little?

RED BRICK STUDIOS!

One of the things I like about Halo is that if you are in a firefight against a higher leveled player with more skill, but both of you have equal weapons, you have a chance. CoD rewards skilled players in ways that give them advantages. I think skilled players and new players should start a match equal in power.

I'm a Halo fan since 2002. And as a Halo fan, I say:

Bungie, go for Class based gameplay. And knock it out of the park. Bungie Style.

Halo can support. Bungie can do it well.

Classes work in COD because most of the weapons function the same. So it doesn't really matter what weapon you start with, you can function basically the same as another player.

They wouldn't work in halo because the sandbox has bigger variety in weapons and vehicle that need to be balanced. Can anybody possibly explain how to balance vehicles when you can respawn with a vehicle killer? Who in their right mind would even think about picking the needler, plasma pistol, or spiker class?

In halo, Instead of everyone going to their favorite vantage point/corner after selecting the best weapon from spawn, they have to fight for the power weapons. This promotes more fast paced gameplay, promotes map awareness/team work, and changes traffic flows. Its one of the things that make Halo what it is.
