Bring Back Rocket Race!!!

I know that ODST's can drive several vehicles and they can even use Covenant Weapons, but does anyone know if they can drive Covenant Vehicles like a Ghost? And also, can ODST's hijack other vehicles like Master Chief can? Since they're ODST's I know that they have limitations.

Canonically I doubt it, but for gameplay reasons they might.

not might; will. you always see mariens using covanent weapons and vehicles across the halo series. no doubt that the UNSC (speaking from an in game veiwpoint) drills its soildiers in the use of enemy weapons...either that or the covanent make its equipment controls waaaay too obvious.

Well Grunts need to use them, so of course they're obvious.

I speak the truth, and truth speaks itself.
The lies disguise what you despise.
Run. Flee and be, what you've always dreamed.
What happens now won't matter later.
What you see will not be, nor what you imagine will not happen.
The end is close, so take your dose.

Marines could drive Covenant vehicles in Halo 3, so why wouldn't an ODST be able to?

Marines could drive it, but they're terrible drivers. Everytime I see a marine attempt to drive the ghost, they always end up driving it off a cliff or something. And actually, on a few occassions in Halo 3, I have seen ODST's drive ghosts as well, but like the Marines, they were terrible drivers.

You know those days where you wake up and you just don't want to get out of bed? those days when you drag your feet across the floor like a zombie? yeah, I'm having one of those days.

i pretty much think in the years of fighting the covenant we would of taken some of their vehicles, studied them and learnt how to use them and made all troops learn how to use them

You can use Covenant Vehicles and Weapons, but cannot hijack.

I think ODST's can use Covenat weapons and vehicles but I'm not sure about hijacking.

Storywise ODST's shouldn't be able to hijack, but not being able to hijack could greatly affect the gameplay so I think Bungie might let you hijack. But who knows?

Marines can drive Ghosts in Halo 3. I'd assume that you'd be able to drive them if you can find one and not destroy it. If I remember right you can't pilot Wraiths. And I doubt you'll be able drive a Banshee. That'd make traveling in Mombasa way too easy. Haven't seen any of the Brute themed vehicles in the trailers. Doubt they'll be in the game.

Who needs hijacking? With a well-places shot to the dome of a grunt with a Battle ri... Oh, Wait, A shot with a Automag should do.

Grunts aren't that stupid, actually. In fact they have a better capacity for learning than most if not all covenant species. They were force fed food that makes them stupid, but even then they are the part of the covenant that's frequently used to translate human language and can speak both their own and human laguage fluently.

I doubt it's canon that everyone in the Halo universe save for the Master Chief drives poorly. If that were the case then humanity would have died from so many crashes before even meeting the covenant.

It showed a Banshee, but something was strange about that Banshee. It probably was an ODST driving it, but why wasn't there a Banshee Reticule? It could've been in Theater Mode where they removed the reticule, but still...

I know that. Dadab is a prime example of this. I'm just saying a marine can rival their intelligence.

Yeah I agree. In game, Grunts actually aren't that stupid either. They are just easily scared a lot and tend to run away.

I never denied that it was an ODST piloting the Banshee. I just said that it was strange that there was no reticule (crosshair) for the Banshee.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

There's a parked chopper in the backgound of one of the firefight pics

  • 07.26.2009 6:29 PM PDT

why are you looking at this?

they can drive covenant vehicle in campaign and firefight, but can only hijack in firefight. also i'm not sure if the odst's can drive wraiths.

  • 07.26.2009 6:31 PM PDT

For the Firefight map with the wraiths it has been confirmed that you can "hijack" the wraith.
With hijacking being the ability to board and plant a grenade, not steal the vehicle.
