why do people want elites in ODST so badly i mean it would be uncanon and i prefer fighting brutes elites are good allies.i really dont understand it.

Go Rams and Missouri!

Brutes are pretty much the same as Elites but they have cooler armor and occasionally jet packs. Also, they have spiky weaponry.

and the best don't mess with the rest.

I dont. I mean, Brutes, are tough, and make it more of the setting. And you are, ODST, so no Elite allies.

well i wouldnt say cooler armor my self but i mean really.who cares about the enemys

  • 07.26.2009 7:57 PM PDT

Because killing Elites is harder for some reason and I guess people just like the look of them and have gotten used to them in H3

well the way it looks in this game brutes are pretty tough

In Halo 2 Brutes were just buggy- nobody, not even Bungie denies that.

But in Halo 3 Bungie just could not make Brutes replace Elites. Brute armor just... popped off. It wasn't as appealing... as satisfying to kill one of them. They weren't as worthy of adversaries.

However I can't say the same for ODST. Seems that Brutes will be decent in this game- a challenge. Perhaps it'll work out great with Brutes. I see shields are more visible now at least.

That statement is wrong, because they would get used to Brutes in Halo 3. Sure, Elites are your allies on some missions, but Brutes are your main enemies save Cortana and Floodgate.

although i do like Eltes, whoo cares about the enemy the game is what matters

Go Go Happy Time!

They're the most memorible Halo enemies I think? They also feel so good when you rub your junk on them Claming they're your property now.

agreed at the end of halo 2 the brutes were the main enimes and same for halo 3 at this point people should be used to killing brutes.and who else noticed in the gameplay videos most of the time at least in camp. the player would get shot and the stamina would not drop. i had seen one were a Bungie employee was stuck and lived just fine.lol

I will never play Halo: CE the same way again.
You have enlightened me.

Well, I actually liked to fight the Elites more. IDK why, but it's probably something to do with the split jaw. I was hit by a guy with the same condition as a child, alot. It's one of those subliminal things.

I also have a passion ever thanks to halo2. The brutes were messed up and I hated them with cold fury. Now I have a passion of hate for them, so bruteslaughter is fun for me.

Halo CE and Halo 2 want a word with you.

Elites are far superior combatants compared to Brutes. Brutes are overly aggressive and have no restraint. Did Bungie even program Brutes to take cover or is it pretty much just "ARRRGH RRRRGGGGGRRRRR" whilst slowly walking side to side as you BR them in the face?

Oh and here's the topper as to why they aren't even close game play wise...
"I'M THROWING A GRENADE! *whoosh* GRRRR"

I am a penguin. Every day I boogie on down to the water, and eat fish. Once, while fishing in the deepest depths, I saw great Cthulhu... And he said to me "Shine, to thine own self be true. They can't tell you what to do once you've gone guru." Also, I should tell you, "slide".

Well, I'd say the H3 brutes were just as formidable as elites. What they lack in armor, they make up for with more aggressive coordinated attacks, and deadly weaponry. I'll start with the last point and move to the first.

While both the brutes and elites use plasma rifles, brutes also use spikers, that, without a shield can kill in just a few shots. The weapons are quite accurate too, but I'm used to playing on legendary, so this may not be common for those who don't. Once shielded, being hit with a plasma rifle however, allows time to find cover. For the melee weapons, the hammer is, with little doubt deadlier than the sword, as where it lacks a lunge function, the damage radius the hammer allows the brutes to miss, and yet still kill or do much harm players.

Elites on legendary in Halo 1 and 2 were tough, indeed, however, it was much easier to separate one from their group, where they proved quite killable. And while yes, this can happen with brutes in H3, it is more often they attack in numbers, making even low raking brutes quite deadly. And they don't like to stand back and shoot as much (though they do at times) as they enjoy surrounding and attacking aggressively. And once you do get them down to their last, it usually isn't your run of the mill brute, but rather one of the chieftains when they're around.

Really, where the elites shine against brutes in combat is in that their armor (the shield) regenerates, while the brutes just have their armor on as long as it isn't shot off. The fact the brutes have higher hitpoints doesn't quite make up for that, but their battle tactics surely do.
