Word to your mother home dog i'm out

In the halo Reach trailer at around the 40 second mark you can hear those words coming from a female spartan. Any thoughts on Sierra 320?

Yea sounds like 320 to me.
Love the idea of seeing and possibly playing as other spartans.
Just hope nobody steals my headshots.

"If buttered toast lands buttered side down, and cats always land on their feet, then what happens when you attach buttered toast to the back of a cat?

Sierra could be anything beginning with an S, or the name of a squad, battalion, brigade, etc. Not just a Spartan.

Right. Could be anything with an S.

The fact that every other time they have said Sierra and then a number they were referring to Spartans in every other book, trailer, game, everything is just plain irrelevant.

I personally think it stands for Salamander. It's a nice, pleasant color.

We don't know if it is a Spartan or not, it could be a Pelican preparing to drop a group of Marines or ODST's about to drop.

They have only used Sierra in Halo 3, and it was because Bungie was trying to make the UNSC for realistic in using the Military Alphabet. It could be Ship 320, Spartan 320, Soldier 320, Squad 320, or any group of soldiers for that matter, as groups are named simply with Military characters as well. Don't be so closed minded and adamant that it means Spartan, because it could be anything, we don't know yet. Having your mind made up about the game when all you have seen of it is an announcement trailer isn't very bright.

320 is Linda from the Halo Books. She is an insane sniper, capable of shooting banshees down in mid-air while hanging from one arm. (check the books). She is also very close to Master Chief, so he has to make an appearance.

no. Sierra refers to a spartan like the cheif sierra 117 and she sayes "you got spartans"

  • 07.26.2009 8:48 PM PDT

This is taken from another topic:

If Sierra-259 = SPARTAN-II 059, then Sierra-117 = SPARTAN-I 017. And John is most definitely not a SPARTAN-I.

3. a word used in communications to represent the letter S.

Taken from dictionary.com. Yes, Spartan starts with an S, so it is right for Sierra to represent Spartan, but Spartans aren't the only thing in the Military that start with S you know. The person saying "You've got Spartans on the ground" could very well be a Pelican pilot whose call sign is "Sierra 320" that just dropped off a load of Spartans.

Peace through superior firepower.

They don't name things like that, but other than that, with the Military Alphapet, you're right.

Actually thinking about it now, Echo 419 from Halo CE was a Pelican, it's name followed the Military Alphabet, and her number wasn't that of any known Spartan. Sierra 320 follows suit, it's name is Military Alphabet and the number isn't that of any known Spartan, and when she says "you've got Spartans on the ground", she is referring to a group she just dropped off. Naming it Sierra was probably just a ploy by Bungie to make us think it is a new Spartan character, as Bungie tends to add twists in their trailers like that.

Bungie just keeps making them up. Hell, remember in Halo 1 when you were slated as THE LAST Spartan? Yeah...

  • 07.26.2009 10:11 PM PDT

Its definitely 320.

(320 - 117) is a multiple of 7.

360 is not, nor is (360 -117)

Yea but just cause the person says "you got Spartans" does not meen that they are a Spartan it could be a female marine reporting that the Spartans have landed and that the Marines are not gonna leave if the Spartans are'nt

well SIERRA-259.. probably IS a spartan if you were to go by the fact that in the trailer it says " this is SIERRA-259 you've got spartans on the ground sir, we're not going anywhere" WE'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE. would suggest talking about himself.. and " SIERRA-320 prepped for combat insertion" INSERTION would suggest that SIERRA-320 is themself ready for drop into combat. but then this is just my take on it..

7 lines isn't long enough for a signiture! =P

"This is Sierra 259. We've got spartans on the ground sir, we're not going anywhere".

So there Sierra 320 and Sierra 259 mentioned in the trailer. Anybody heard of these before? (I haven't read the books)

  • 07.27.2009 4:18 AM PDT

Mind, body and soul, possibly my sole properties

No nobody has, you should read the books, but reading the forums would have clued you in too. I think Bungie's trying to confuse, one could be a Spartan while the other something completely separate, but both being call signed as Sierra to create this confusion.

Theres alot of speculation going on about the identity of the voices in the trailer, i think its too early to comment. If Bungie went ahead and gave the voices the serial tags of spartans we know about the whole thing would be unraveled too easily.

What im getting at is that maybe the trailer is giving false information to maintain some secrecy, look at the halo 3 announcement trailer and how different that was to the cutscene in the final game.
