Poll: $60 price tag: will it affect your decision to buy ODST?  [closed]
I would spend any amount of money for this game.:  71%

I will still buy it, spitefully.:  25%

I will have to wait for a price drop.:  2%

I won't buy it b/c of the price.:  2%

I am honestly peeved that they are charging $60 for what is essentially an expansion. I would be willing to pay that for it if it had a NEW multiplayer, but really it's just like a huge DLC in my eyes. I would pay $45 and not say a word.

Don't get me wrong, I've pre-ordered and will be buying it. I just think it's sorry that M$ is going to charge that much for it SIMPLY BECAUSE they know how dedicated us halo fans are, and they know that we would spend almost any price to get our hands on new halo gaming goodness.

No, I'm personally dishing out the $100 for the GameStop Collector's Pack.

"Let me turret, you suck at it. Don't be sad we all know it."

Nah Im gonna wait till I have grandchildren so it'll be cheaper.
No s.h.i.t I'm gonna buy it, I dont get why people are whining about the price. Its a full lenght game with more stuff to do than most other games. Seriously, can anyone explain why its not worth $60?

  • 07.27.2009 10:16 AM PDT

I don't like the price either. The only reason they put it at $60 is because people are willing to pay that much.

Please someone tell me WHY they are b.i.t.c.h.i.n.g

The only new stuff in ODST is the Campaign and Firefight. Otherwise you are paying for the Halo 3 multiplayer all over again. (Except for the 3 new maps.) That's why.

But everyone bought Halo 3 at full price without complaining, and ODST offers more than most games, including an endless firefight, and Recon armor...and for those who dont have them the new maps, including 3 NEW maps nobody has. It seems pretty pathetic to complain when your getting so much. What more do you want?

Sure, if I hadn't already paid, what, 2400 MS points for all of those maps, it would be a great deal. Instead, I'm paying again for maps that I've already paid for. Is that a good enough reason?

Even without the maps, your getting 1: The game 2: 3 NEW maps 3: Recon Armor.
Name 1 game that has more than that.

I don't think it's a bad price at all.

You get:
Campaign
Firefight
All of the Halo maps including Heretic,Citadel, and Longshore on one disc.
Reach Beta

Seems like a fine deal to me.

For one, I won't be wearing recon. So that's one less thing (not to mention i don't think paying for an armor perm is logical, it's like buying clothes for a GI Joe or something, I'm not 8). 1 game that has more than that?...I can do you better:

Gears of War 2
COD 4 and WaW
GTA
L4D
R6V
Fallout 3 (b/c of the enormous size of the campaign, unlike ODST's projected 4 hour campaign)

Edit: Like I said, I'm mostly just saying that, while this is a cool title with it's own features, I don't think it should qualify as a stand-alone $60 title (it is called Halo 3: ODST)

I'm paying $100 for special. I think there have been many threads like this.

Steam: RageRunner32 | StarCraft II: RageRunner | Lets play Pc sometime :)

<3

I'll be getting the collectors simply for my love of Halo storyline, and although I'm paying double what I expected for the expansion it won't be effecting my decision to purchase.

My troll sense is tingling.

Looks like somebody skipped maths.

The campaign is longer than Halo 3's, it has a new game mode, you get the Halo 3 multiplayer, along with all the maps. I think it's the best deal since The Orange Box.

You said it yourself, a new campaign and a multiplayer mode.
Did people complain when Bioshock was full price? Assassin's Creed, Dead Space, Prince of Persia... I rest my case.

Spartans are from Venus and Elites are from Uranus

No. I had expected it to be sixty dollars even when Bungie said they didn't want it to be that price. It's Micrsoft that controls the price and I really doubt they'd pass up the chance to make more money than less.

Regardless, ODST comes with alot more content than most games. It looks fun. So I wont complain.

they are charging this much because they know not everybody who buys the game has Halo 3, Or Xbox Live.

if a person buying ODST doesn`t have Halo 3 or XBOX live, that`s nearly a $90 value of a game coming in at $60.

Marine Corps.
Semper Fi.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

Like others, I'm paying more than $60 just for a collector's edition.

Volenti Nil Difficile - To the Willing Nothing Is Difficult

I have not problem paying 60 for the game. Its no surprise that its priced this way. The game started as an expansion but they kept adding more and more stuff into the game to warrant the price. Like I've said in other threads about the price( and thanks for realizing is MS and not Bungie who is making the game cost 60) is that there are many "full" games that have much less content compared to ODST but yet they are priced at 60.

  • 07.27.2009 12:23 PM PDT

Im payin 100$ for the GameStop collectors edition, comes with the game and a controller.
