Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

This is strange, but it seems my ATI 4870 doesn't respond to removal or addition of the // line.

The only way to toggle AF on or off (or different levels) is to do it manually from the Catalyst control panel. In other words, even though my video card is modern and isn't listed in the config.txt, it works just fine forcing AF. I'm guessing ATI wrote this into their modern drivers, but I dunno.

BTW, I am using Catalyst 8.9, and my device ID is correctly listed as "1002" so it should be an "unknown" under the ATI group.

Try taking the "//" out of the Unknown="Unknown" section of the nVidia section as well. I did that just to be safe, and it's working just fine on my HD4870 (like I said above, the difference is night and day). I dunno why Halo would think the HD4870 is an nVidia card, but it just might be weird like that.

Halo CE forever!

Thanks for this tip, even though I can force AF on 16x in graphics card settings already, but this might come handy if I switch to another card some day.

Something smells fishy...

How does one find the vendor string for your video card's PnP device ID?

I have an Nvidia 9300m GS

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

You should be able to change the setting under where "nvidia" is listed 3 times.

Works.

That was the first thing I tried actually. :) What Catalyst are you on?

Whatever's the latest for Vista 32-bit. I usually check for updates every week.

Looks like they are on 9.8, so I am a bit behind lol.

Oh well, I appreciate the heads up from Sawnose, but I am willing to bet that if you go back and read release notes on previous driver sets, you'll find that they addressed this issue directly. Halo PC is/was a popular game and people would want to enable AF.

Sweet. So anti-aliasing is impossible?

This is the average H2 Fanboy.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

No, it isnt unless you go into your driver and enable it, i did in forceware and it looks much better now (i do that with other old games that dont support it)

I didn't really notice any difference in my game after enabling this, oh well. Thanks for the information though Sawnose, all the little tips like this help out!
