Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

Why don't we just end this thread with. This won't be happening with Halo: Reach.

  • 07.28.2009 9:59 AM PDT

I'd rather Halo Reach remain a Halo game thanks.

Plus it would lag way too much.

Just sounds stupid to me. Just how MAG seems stupid.

Well I understand that more is definitely not better. I mean I want to keep this a Halo for sure. I love the campaigns so much but I just have a bigger need for MP. Don't get me wrong I love Halo 3 MP but I just feel like Bungie should make a project like Halo: Warfare. I mean Microsoft makes millions if not billions. So why not use some of that to make a dedicated server...a few maps to start off...and customizable characters like we have now. I understand this may take awhile but why don't they start off with the server first... and when the next console appears..start producing the game. Then lastly comes the weapons...vehicles.. and so on.

Maybe it could be a system where people can create a ranked or social match and go from there, with people joining in a menu where they see how many players and what the gametype is.

Also, i would be great if you could forge a map being used for this type of massive gameplay.

I be trippin'.

I am a giant BTB fan. This would be awesome. A total of 100 people max. 50v50.

Communication would be near impossible. 50 voices at one time would hurt the ears. So I say Squad based chat. 10 people in a squad. Squad leader is randomly chosen, and can communicate to other squad leaders. Imagine regular squad chat just like Halo 3 in game chat. Now imagine squad leader chat as hold down LB or something and on screen your hand comes up to your helmet and your communicating to only other squad leaders.

Dedicated servers would be a must, and I would pay for something as epic as this. It would still be laggy, but Bungie could make Network history.

Giant bases on each map have armories, hangars, garages, and lobbies where some battles would take place.

Agree with your. THEN DELAY HALO REACH. We don't need it right now. We could wait more years until the technology is available. THIS IS TEH LAST BUNGIE's HALO. I WANT IT A 10 on IGN.

Stand away from the shotgun pal
Will always remember for being famous on the Bungie cams. :)
Is Eternally grateful for Bungie helping me rock'recon :D

Even if such a number of players could fight in one arena...wouldn't they need to be well, closely packed together for anyone to appreiciate the fact theirs so many soldiers, because if it was spread out, it might aswell be games of 8 on 8 spread accross a big multiplayer field.

Don't get me wrong, it would be cool. But really, honestly think would it be fun with 100+ Members of an enemy team staring you down?

I can suspect if someone was in the scorpion tank, it would lead to some serious multi-kill medals... KIlliongenoicide anybody?

I think that would suck. You would be playing an epic video game...yet you would just be another face in the crowd.

i dont think that 256 vs 256 is possible yet but i think that the multiplayer will max at 16 vs 16 as it would need to stay slightley cannon and 36 spartans is pushing it
then again this is all presuming tat it is spartan vs spartan warfare... again
the game could be a compleatly new concept for all we know
it might have marine vs marine or grunt vs grunt or marine vs grunt
but looking at the banner i doubt this
and to answer how a 256 vs 256 game could work it could be on set servers
say for example 500 servers =maby 1000 games =500,000 players at 1 time
and to find these games have each game start at a spesific time
ie: at 2:00 game 101 256 vs256 at 2:10 game 102 128 vs 128 and so on
i know i just contradicted myself

why?

I'm really asking, no offense.

I mean if 256 is already possible, why not 512 for next year's ending?

That's like building a small model rocket, launch it, and then say "Hey, let's go to the moon. It shouldn't be that hard, it's been done before.

And the PS3 is capable of holding disc's that are 50 GB big, so it can hold maps large enough to support 256 players. While the XBOX can only really support disc's that are 8.5 GB.

Not to mention that MAG (I can't really imagine any thing else) servers to support the networking, it allows for high speed servers to collect all the information and send all the information out. A single house-hold PS3 couldn't take that much information and send it out.

  • 07.28.2009 1:53 PM PDT

nothing over 50 vs 50 I just want enough people in the map for none cheap use of dropships

Not to mention, consider how long it takes to find a match of 5v5 or 8v8.

Now try to find a match of 256v256.

How will MAG actually work talking about finding matches?

Mags system is like a long pipe, which I will assume means players will just get dumped into one of the pipes, and wait for others for a couple of minutes, I mean only a couple of games will be going on at once

Correction, the PS3 will someday be able to hold up to 200 GB because of how much a BluRay disc can store

Well maybe 256 vs 256 is a bit exaggerated. I would have to be a specific game called Halo Online or something that is focused solely on multiplayer.

But I think 50 vs 50 would be a nice bet, and incredible to play. Just imagine: if you set a big carnage with 16 players, imagine what would happen with 100 players

Bring Back Rocket Race!!!

Posted by: OmegaSpartan91
What about this for a Multiplayer mode in Halo Reach.

Isn't it a dream for everyone playing with A LOT of players in a LOTR-sized battlefield.

I mean, like a real war.

lol 256 vs 256 in an FPS = LLLLAAAAGGGGGG!!!

Extreme Lag. No matter what the console, the lag will be ridiculous. Even if everyone has a good connection, the game will still be fairly laggy. It's not a matter of what the console can handle. It's a matter of connection. 256 vs. 256 only belongs in RTS games.

  • 07.28.2009 2:56 PM PDT

Bring Back Rocket Race!!!

if you want an idea of what 256 vs 256 will lag like, there is modded map in halo 3 with 255 elephants. Each Elephant is equal to like 2 players in terms of bandwith. So that map will be like a 256 vs 256. It becomes soo laggy that the framerate drops to around 8 fps.

Yeah, and currently the biggest disc you can get for a BlueRay player/burner is 50 GB. While currently the biggest disc you can get for a DVD drive is 8.5 GB. DVD's used to be less than 1 GB in the beginning. But it is always changing with progression of technology. Someday, anything can be possible.
