Subject: Elites need to stand taller!

In campaign yes. They should be frighteningly tall. But not for multiplayer.

They should follow the height thats stated in the canon, their body shape and how it cohorts to the hunch need to be changed.

Agreed.
Campaign Elites should be taller. And bigger proportioned.
But that would mean that Hunters would be Massive. But whatever works.

Chunky knows best. We should listen to this guy.

This is what I believe all the elites should stand like in campaign:

Imagine that but with amazing graphics!

No.

I still don't get how size differences of a target can throw someone off... If we can pick off a grunt and a brute with a sniper rifle from across a map, then why can't we pick off two different models that have are only different by one foot?

  • 08.06.2009 2:01 PM PDT

Two things: First, I do not want my Elite looking like a stupid Halo Wars Elite. Next, I want my Elite to stand up straight, and not look like the Hunchback of Notre Dame. They should be only slightly taller than Spartans, cause I think that the average Spartan is 7 feet, so yeah, make them like taller Spartans. And give my Elite a Councilor helmet. Those things rocked.

Those who think there all that are all truly dead on the inside

Halo Wars makes them look like monsters. They are not monsters.

As it is, the hunched over thing I took to be a combat stance. In single player is really the only place they should stand up. Multiplayer is a constant combat area, so they should constantly be in combat stance.

Or or maybe they could make the models stand up straight just a tad when not in a firefight or shooting and too hunch em over when your running out there and rushing, an dmkae em stand up again after a period of time, i mean it would look so much better in machinimas.

Re-live Marathon:Durandal. Get it today for 800 Microsoft points on the marketplace.

Im glad Elites are starting to get the respect they always deserved... Yeah so Elites were 8'6 feet tall (stated in Halo 1 manual) and Spartans were 7 feet tall. I really miss those days where you saw an elite in halo CE patrolling, with his head held up high, looking back and forth, it sure gave them a stunning presence, not to mention a threat when on high difficulties!

I agree that they should stand up a bit more before they start suffering from back/spinal issues.

In single player Halo 3 campaign, the Arbiter wasn't hunched and stood a little taller than the Chief, as can be seen both here, and in the cutscene Arrival, when the Chief looks up at the Arbiter when ramming the gun under his throat.

Why can't all Elites be like the Arbiter was?

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

The Elites in Halo wars look like brutes.

Not only that but the elites need too get more brutal. Halo wars did the best in showing the brutality of the elites. In the trailer you see marines get gun down by them and the last marine that tries to crawl away the elites finish him in the only way they know how by shoving their sword into him. Not only that the Elite pickes up the marine in one hand looks into his eyes and toses him like a freakin rag doll. The fact that they are being called cute dinos needs too stop, rather they need to be called angry freakin T-rex

Through the evolution between Halo 2 and Halo 3, Elites slowly began to slunch over and become less like brutal aliens and more like cute little dinos.

I think for Halo: Reach, Bungie should make Elites stand upright more to give the appearance of menacing enemies, kind of like in Halo: Combat Evolved.

Elite (Halo Combat Evolved)

Elite (Halo 3)

Not to say the both aren't scary looking in their own way, its just that the hunched over style of Halo 3's Elite doesen't look admirable enough to be a truly scary and menacing foe.

Elite (Halo Wars)

In the CG Cutscenes for Halo Wars, they did a wonderful job of capturing the Elites raw indimidatory presence, that I would love to see become a reality in Halo Reach.

agreed!

Elites need to look like the calculated, coordinated and intelligent killers, Halo Wars kind of lacked that aspect, but Halo 2 got it right.

I liked the elites in H:CE and H2. They were bigger, stood taller, they were faster, and had a smarter AI. I play Halo CE all the time because i love fighting elites instead of big stupid gorillas.

  • 08.09.2009 6:43 AM PDT

I never sleep, 'cause sleep is the cousin of death.

Agreed. They're supposed to stand like eight feet tall! I liked their size in the Halo Wars trailer.
However, they more or less have to be downsized for multiplayer a la RAAM in GoW 1.

Halo 2 was unbalnced because of the Elite's larger bodies.
Halo 3 fixed that making them Hunched.

You are very very mistaken. Halo 2 is just as hunched as halo 3. It's beyond me how bungie ruined the same player model in the same exact way too games in a row! It's almost remarkable.

where does it say that? and it would be canon, look at Halo CE.

Microsoft's carelessness was a colossal failure.
They failed to protect Halo 2,
When the great journey is upon us
Their heresy will stay their feet.
And they will be left behind.

Standing up-right Sangheili ftw.
