I dont get it. What is all this buisness about people wanting female characters to look more female. Everything is fine. Its not a big deal. God people just want to find a way to complain about something. Here let me tell you something crucial. ITS A VIDEO GAME!

Whew. Good to get that off my chest.

That's no excuse. It's not a complaint either, it's a suggestion. All the girl players I know hate the fact thay all look like dudes when they play games with character customization.

Look, here's my idea of female spartan proportions.

A bit stylized, and I DID rush it quite a bit, but you get the idea.

Not too much bust, not too skinny, and not too revealing. What's wrong with a gender actually being a GENDER and not a voice?

I dunno what to say about myself.

You have to prove you're a woman to choose this option though

so many 9 year olds that wish they had a -blam!- choose this option

at the end of the game you look at their profile and their name is scott

Yes, precisely; nothing uncovered; purely a feminine physique. When you modify the gender for your individual, it merely sounds reminiscent of a male that was castrated. In the view of reality that Reach is Bungie's concluding game of the franchise, it ought to expire in the same method Sergeant Johnson did; "in a bang". That insinuates that it is obliged to subsist up to its aptitude, not reside within the graphics of the previous generation. Enhanced in- game graphics consist of -blam!- dimorphism.

Exactly.

I agree with the OP and Piraka. I would like a little bit of distinction between male and female Spartan characters, even if it's as minor as a small adjustment of waist and thigh size (and avoiding the much too common half-dressed famale characters with extremely large breasts seen in other games). And to those complaining about advantages/disadvantages, just keep the hitboxes the same, with the changes being so minor you'd still be hitting and aiming at the same areas with no problems with aiming.

Seriously, it'd allow for female gamers to feel like their character is more than a male with an extremely high voice. Also, it'd allow for more realism and detail (it looks less lazy than having both genders having the exact same model) as well as match up with typical female body structure.

Something akin to this?

Nah, too many differences from the default MJOLNIR armor. I'd say something more akin to Piraka's sketch (much more accurate anatomy-wise though, such as normal sized arms :P) would be better accepted by both canon-strict players and mainstream gamers. Extremely minor, but still apparent, changes to make a more feminine figure when compared to the default male character. With the same hitboxes, they would have no advantage in combat as well.

I will acknowledge that it's a fine depiction for an instantaneous notion of what it may perhaps appear akin to, within the gameplay. When I typically endeavor to construct a portion of concept art, I become too engrossed with it and initiate eclipsing and authenticity into it. :P

There are no female elites. Elites reproduce a-blam!-ly.

But in multiplayer, each character has to be the same height, and width. So there are no advantages. Everyone would choose to be female, because it gives them a slighter advantage.

Um...elites?

Second acct: RC Zerg Rushes

Just my 2 cents, but in the novels it talks about how hard the Spartans are to tell apart when they're in their armor, and how very few non-Spartans can do it. This would lend a good deal of credibility to male and female Spartans looking similar when encased in their armor, which appears to be uni-sex. Thus, there is no need for a different female spartan armor set.

I also see no point in making a female elite character model.

To be honest, Bungie has much more important things to get right in Reach, such as a brand new, completely overhauled and improved netcode, a new game engine, etc. Female Spartan and Elite models serve no purpose other than to be there for the heck of it.

Yes there are. The article of the Sangheili, Usze 'Taham, I publicized previously, consults regarding how he was delivered from his MOTHER, and that both of his parents nurtured him.

Hey, jackass, how about this. make it like freakin real life! A chick gets in a fight with a dude, a chick is faster and the dude is stronger, or maybe some crap in the same area of balances but in a different way. Maybe, ohhh...I don't know...how God originally made???? You know, in real life,..the thing you might forget EXISTS. The female thing with the model is a good idea, you know it, I know it, The OP knows it, and honestly people think elite's are cheap, but honestly I find them exactly the same to snipe, if not easier. So just c'mon it would be a great way for female players to express themselves without looking the whores. And BTW in Gears 2 NOT A SINGLE PERSON complains about the Kantus's/Skorge's Tallness, and it's fair. It's only in Halo. And do you wanna know whY? Because Bungie is the only company who ACTUALLY CARES about what their fans think!

Answer this, do you want advantages and disadvantages to picking a certain character type?
Will there be a significant difference? If there won't be then it isn't needed.

If there is a significant difference then it will come with an advantage or disadvantage.

It is a lose/lose if you have different character models with different attributes. Higher pitches of voice are all that really matters. Spartans in their Armor look the same.

You are generalizing girls, saying that they are smaller then men.

Whilst some girls are taller then some men, and vice versa.

The only way I could see this working is if you could customize your character to change thier entire body. Which would make the game totally unbalanced.

Even then, everyone would choose the smallest settings so that they are a harder target to hit.(think your ideas through)

Your idea is either not significant enough to merit doing, or it is too significant and it would make the game unbalanced.

LOSE/LOSE.

its odd how only guys will want more "pronounced" female models yeshh.

if you want a femine super soilder your going to have troubles finding one

  • 07.29.2009 1:00 AM PDT

No, everyone would play as a female considering that the character type would be smaller. It would be the new elite! : (

NOTE: This is based off the silhouette of the female spartans in the banner, NOT a generalization.

Although it will make females a slightly smaller target they could just make the hitbox the same as a males, to compensate.

I have sort of found a way to make spartans look more feminine, use the EOD chest piece

I like the idea of making females look different in halo 3 just having the option to have female deaths sounds was pretty stupid especially seeing as their deaths sounds like someone getting smothered with a pillow or something.

By the way are you just assuming what female elites look like or have they really mentioned or explained it somewhere?
