1) Host Advantage
Shotgun and Swords is completely broken due to this. If your team doesn't have the host, you will lose 90% of the time. I have been shot and killed with the shotgun from a good 70 feet away, while mine won't even cause damage. Why? Because being the host means you win.
2) Super Lunging
People on this game will lunge and hit me from around 15-20 feet away with any weapon. I can only do a standard lunge at best. It doesn't matter who I'm facing, they will always shoot me up a bit and then lunge 20 feet to kill me, even when they're crouching or jumping.
3) Snipe Swipe
Facing a sniper is pointless when they can snipe swipe. The fact that they can even do this is just horrible programming. If I'm running, all they have to do is swing their gun and fire, a good majority of the time they will hit me, even if I have taken cover behind a building or rock.
4) Super Bounces
These have killed numerous games for me. I have had a entire team super bounce on Turf with the Flag, which makes killing them impossible. Not only that, but they stayed up there and I was forced to quit because they were given an infinite amount of "sudden death" time. Super Bounces also ruin Zanzibar when the bouncer has the battle rifle or sniper rifle. It makes it near impossible to kill them since they just move to the back of the base so hitting them is impossible.
5) Unbalanced Teams
I can't even count the amount of times I have played team training to find the other team to be stacked with players over level 30 while my team was all under level 10. What should have been done is that once you hit level 20, you can only play ranked games. People over level 20 are just playing team training games to bully not-so-experienced players. There's also the problem when they let team based matches (flag and bomb) be a 4 vs. 3 affair. This may be fine when it's something like Team Slayer, Shotguns, Swords, etc., but it makes the game unfair because the team with 4 can easily send one to grab the flag or plant the bomb while the other 3 go out for killing. The team with 3 on the other hand gets screwed by having one less person and one less attacker.
6) Flag Capture Cheats
Picture this, you're playing capture the flag on Elongation and you're right on top of your flag so nobody can capture it without getting through you. Now, a guy across from you (where the ramp begins and at the bottom is the battle rifle) takes the flag right from underneath you. Same crape has happen to me when playing Capture The Flag on Turf. It makes guarding the actual flag/bomb spot pointless.
7) Grenades
I have no idea when this became the "go to" weapon for any cheater, but it is. For one, they seem to home onto me and my team. Yes, the actually home. How do I know? Simple, when a person is able to throw either grenades from anywhere on the map and have them ALWAYS either stick you or land at your feet, they are homing. Secondly, their explosion radius seems to vary. If I throw any grenade, it explodes its expected amount. If somebody throws it against me and my team, they explode big enough to hurt me. I have had grenades explode from 15 feet away, through a giant boulder, and almost kill me. Third, the fuse is variable. Mine will explode most of the time on key, but a good portion of the time they will either not explode at all or they sit there on the ground for 10 seconds while the other players just walk passed it, and then it will explode. Grenades also don't even bounce right. If you throw a something like a grenade overhand and it hits an incline plain (70 degrees lets say), the grenade will never stop in its tracks. That has happen to me before. A person throws a grenade, hits a nice incline and just sticks there (no not a stick grenade, a regular one). Physics will tell you that it would follow the incline to the bottom point where it would settle, but not in Halo 2.
8) Stick Grenades
This is pretty simple, if I throw a stick grenade at your chest and it hits you, you should be stuck. Not the case at all it seems. For me, the stick grenade will either go right through the person or it won't explode at all. I have actually stuck somebody in the head before I died and watched on my screen to only see my grenade completely disappear. Great, it just cost me a kill and possibly the game. The other problem with stick grenades is that most of the time they stick the air around the player. How can a stick grenade stick air? Somebody please explain that to me.
9) Rockets
Honestly, rockets make zero sense in Halo 2. If I shoot a rocket at point blank range, I die. If the other person dies, is a game of chance. Some times the other person will die, which makes perfect sense, but other times, he will survive. How in the world does somebody with no shield survive a rocket that hit them at point blank range? If the opponent fires their rocket at point blank range, I will die and they will only die around 5% of the time. Again, how does that even make a lick of sense? The other problem with rockets is the backsplash variable. A guy is right up against a wall and I fire a rocket hitting the wall behind them, they don't die. I'm 10 feet away from the wall and a guy fires a rocket to the wall behind me, I die. Again, it makes no sense.
10) Battle Rifle
This weapon is the single thing that ruins the game completely. Even with all the other problems, the game would still be playable without the Battle Rifle. If somebody uses the Double Shot glitch, they are practically two people because they are firing twice at once and never have to reload. If you can't double shot, you're screwed against these people. It takes 4 shots to the head for you, 2 for them. If they can Quad Shot, you might as well put the controller down. The BXR glitch also gives the player an unfair advantage since they can kill you in one hit at close range while it still takes you more than one. Again, against somebody that can BXR, you're going to lose more than half the time. There's also the fact that shooting makes no sense. If you pay attention, the bullets actually fire from different places. I have been double shot before when the shot came from over their shoulder and below their knee. Know what that means? If you jump or crouch, you will get hit either way. You can also seem to shoot across an entire map when double shooting causing maximum damage, which violates the laws of physics.
11) Reload Glitch
This also ruins the game because in a fire fight, if both players have to reload and one of them knows the reload glitch, you will lose. This applies to all weapons, but especially rockets and battle rifle. If you're playing team rockets and both players fire two rockets and miss, you both have to reload. If the other knows the reload glitch, you're screwed and he'll unleash two more rockets before you get done reloading.
12) Warthog Gunner
If you stick the warthog on its passenger side, it has a good chance of killing the driver, but not the gunner. Now, that part makes sense due to the distance and material between the two. If you throw a stick grenade and stick the bumper or even the gunner itself, the gunner will live. I have yet to actually kill the gunner when sticking the gunner the first time. It always takes 2 or 3 grenades to kill the gunner. So let me get this straight, if you stick a person, he dies, but if you stick a person while on the warthog gunner, he lives? Halo 2, you always seem to amaze me and defy the laws of physics and nature.
13) Threats & Harassment
I have no idea what is wrong with the people that play this game on Xbox Live, but they are messed up in the head. There a few people that actually harass me and my team whenever in the same game. They will repeat the same thing over and over again to everybody that comes into the room, mic or no mic. There is one guy in particular who started the game off by shooting me up, trying to team-kill me. I return the favor and fired back. He then said he would "hack my IP and my internet would be gone in 5 minutes". If that isn't a threat, I don't know what is. I also played against a team of 14 or 15 year olds on Colossus. I recorded 25 kills against them, including a running riot. I used the Battle Riffle and didn't once glitch with it. At the end of the game he said he would "report me because there is no way I could get 25 kills without cheating".
14) Underage & Cursing
I honestly don't know the age limit off-hand, but I have played with dozens of kids that were 12 or younger. Heck, I once played against an 8 year old. The only thing worse than an underage kid, is a kid in general that must use every 4 letter word in the book and call everybody in every game the N word. Even though those are bad, the absolute worse is a person who is 25+ years old and still acts like a kid (cursing, team killing, "your mom" jokes, crude language, racial remarks, etc.) just because they are covered by the anonymity that is the internet.
15) Unused Maps
Last time I checked there were 20+ maps that can be chosen from. Fact is, only a hand full of them are actually played. I honestly have only played on half of them at least once and maybe half of those more than a dozen or so times. Think about that now, I have played on only 8 or so of the maps more than a dozen times in 3+ years since all the maps have been out. In those 3+ years I have played probably hundreds of games.
16) Doing Nothing About It
Any great gaming community would have done something about all this. They would have patched the problems and banned the cheaters right away. Right from the start, Bungie did nothing. They banned only moders and introduced more glitches than they fixed.
Cool story bro...
