I rarely post any threads of my own on this site, (I mostly just reply to those who have questions) but this has been on my mind for quite some time now and I was hoping I could get an answer from a few of the, "top brass," of B.net.

Being a member of the B.net forums now for a little less than a year now, I've seen many good suggestions get posted in the Septagon; some try to alleviate problems B.net is currently facing, and others are totally new ideas applied to the overall improvement and betterment of the Community.

These ideas seem to come and go, ending up in the endless pit of page after page of innumerable amounts of threads. Now I was wondering, does the web team (Bungie web admins and moderators alike) take notice to these suggestions and ponder over their value toward making the B.net Community better?

There have been many, and I do not use that term lightly, suggestions that, even though I cannot recall at this moment, I would've liked to see incorporated into the overall plan and advancement of this site's future. Now I must reiterate my question: Do you, the B.net web team, really take our (the more intelligent of the B.net Community) suggestions into serious consideration or do you just disregard the thoughts of the masses?

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

I wonder that myself sometimes. If they don't then I've wasted a lot of time.

I know I'm just another lowly member like you, but I'm sure their web team notices a lot of the suggestions that come through here. Maybe not all. It's just really scary when Achronos pops up in a thread so most of us try not to be too "loud". He can like kill you and stuff.

I bet most of the problems or suggestions brought up are either handled in the Septagon or are not worth addressing. Or some of the problems are just too complicated to make an "easy fix". Or they have something else they are working on that's not as important as "oh, pweese add a link to this thing over here with a purple highlighty majig."

By the way, I'm not being a jerk. I'm being stupid. I can't help it. =(

Just keep on living up to that mark of shame, Impurity.

Well, as being a webmaster of my own small site, suggestions come up vaguely, and when they do I listen and try my best to incorporate them. Then again, at other times, it seems like I'm flooded with ideas and comments to improve an already proven site. Sometimes, when I get a bland, awkward or impossible/hard suggestion, then I normaly ditch out the idea.

In other words, (...if you can't understand my incomprehensible babble) some ideas are just thrown away, because it just doesn't make any plausible sense in take time and effort to put these suggetions into effect, when it just doesn't need to be there at all, or it's "fine like it is".

I'm sure their are many reasons for such ideas not to be placed in. But as I say that, there could be reasons that these are being implanted, but the public isn't told about them. The Bungie.net Team works in mysterious ways, yet they still get a portion of the job done.

It's better to say that the B.Net Team is 'busy' and "they might get around to it". Yet, I shouldn't be trying to speak for Bungie. I'd like to see them respond for themselves. But I'm sure there are many reasons that isn't done also. I'm sure thy Webmaster is involved in that, somewhere..

I see where you're coming from Toast, and I will agree with you that Bungie may be working in "mysterious ways" to improve the site. I also agree with you that ideas flow through the floodgate like a torrent of water. It also just occurred to me that the Halo 2 stat lists and Xbox Live integration is probably playing a big role in the lives of the Bungie Web Team.

Although, and this is where I question the future of this site, I see many bright ideas present themselves in these forums, and when they pass into "oblivion" I have the need to ask the question, "Did anyone of importance catch that? That was a really good idea." I'm not asking "anyone of importance" to show themselves and say, without doubt, that our ideas are getting used in Bungie's overall plan for its site; that's not my aim. What I want to hear is that Bungie (or the Mods) see these suggestions and that it's very possible for them to be included into B.net.

Still, VII Toast, I also see where you're coming from when you say, "But I'm sure there are many reasons [they don't respond]." It's all up in the air from that point...

I sometimes look back at the early days of the Septagon, well, the post April 12, 2004 Septagon, and there are numerous occasions when ideas have sprung up and been implemented. The web team has been working for a long time making the site better, but every idea that rolls through here is not necessarily a good idea. They do what they can, they're only human.

Well, if Bungie sticks to their beginnings, and we all know they do, then they must still (or at least trying to) be incorporating ideas submitted from the B.net user. That's all I really wanted to know. Thanks for the info, Captain K Mart.

A very refine, distinctive, and descriptive quote Impure, lol.

Bungie does what it can to please the thousands that are on this site day in and out. It may not be perfect, but what is? Some ideas are worked on, others are forgotten. Even those that are worked on are forgotten or even trashed. Bungie thinks what is best for the community at that time. Some things can wait, like a search option. People have been waiting for that thing for months. The good news is, most of the ideas are put into action, but the bad thing is that it takes time.

Looks like someone's taken a trip to the land of the deluded ;)

Anywho, it's certainly an interesting question. I've suggested quite a few things myself, including a new group directory, so i certainly hope they see and think about most ideas that come up.

I know that I always keep feedback from the community in mind while moderating. Remember that the mods are here to make the Bungie community more enjoyable, and since the members are the heart of the community, your feedback is always appreciated.

A big reason for slow visible improvements to the site is the constant work being done on the backend to try to keep the site functioning at all. Until some core performance problems are resolved, new features won't be worth much because they can only add more problems to that unstable mix. Performance problems are why we haven't seen a search feature added yet. This site gets too much damn traffic. heh.

I resent that remark!

In reply to Chris547, you're right. Even if Bungie did think something was a fantastic idea, it doesn't mean it would be implimented as of right now. At the moment i think they have too many performance issues to deal with. But perhaps if they fixed this, they would be able to get some more ideas implimented.
