The Master Chief emerged from his code. After seeing his dynamically lit realtime shadow, he went back for 9 more months of development.

Behold the power of the Originals, the Gods Axeone-Neurone.

For one how about the Bungie Weekly Update. How many other game makers bring their fans into their studio weekly, virtually speaking?

If they did not care about us they would go about their business and just finish the game to make a quick buck.

Halo wouldn't be the big success it is without the fans, so they respect us just about as much as we do them.

Shouldn't this be in a different form? I think this doesnt belong here in New Mombasa, where we talk about Halo 2.

How can anyone think that Bungie doesn't respect us? They're taking over the freaking world for us!

Well, partly for us.

First, this isn't a Halo 2 thread, so be quiet.

if Bungie didn't respect us then why do we have a nice shiny forum? most other games release something and then don't bother to offer any more than an FAQ for their loyal fans! And it's not that Halo was a huge success... Bungie makes the games for us! they make them to be played and enjoyed and to create a great community environment... lets face it, Bungie could be described as a religion because it brings people from all backgrounds to the one place with an emphasis on unity and respect... (and NO I am not saying they should be classed as a religion... just that they go out of their way to do things for us and to give us the best experience)

Three cheers for Bungie!

Everyday they go to work and work hard on game we all want...It's not like they are making halo 2 just for themselves. That would be weird.

I'm pretty sure they're making the game for money first and foremost. The individuals in the company might however want to be involved even if they weren't getting $, that is if they could afford it. But they obviously keep the fans of Halo in mind when they design and develop a game. They even keep us in the loop as much as they can without ruining the surprise of a new release. (Granted some of that is marketing strategy). Do they respect the gaming community here? I don't know, but they surely realize we are extremely interested in their work. And that sort of admiration doesn't go unnoticed. So the main point of the thread to me is a moot point.

Do not group everyone on bungie.net as one entity that gets a uniformly equal amount of respect. Moderators such as Stosh get an extreme amount of respect. However, posters such as yourself, who couldn't use a period correctly to save his own life, have significantly less respect.

It appears to me that some people here do not simply "get out enough." Or at least, don't visit and obsess about other games enough to realize that bungie is in the minority when it comes to respecting its community. Of course, that was easier to do when your community was a group of marathoners who speculated and over your story and had profound, mature conversations and myth'ers who were ppl who knew a good game when they say it. Right now Bungie, including believe it or not Frankie, is busy making a game. That's typically what a game developer does. The catch with makinig games though is that one must make games. Making games, esp. now, can and often is a 50-60 hour work week. For those of you who have never worked, that's an incredibly amount of time. I am amazed that Frankie has time, and the people who he talks to, have time to give us a little insight into the project during this hectic time. They deserve our complete and absolute respect and thanks for their work - both on the game and the amount of attention they pay the community! So Bungie, thank you for the great games and community attention you've paid us throughout the years!

It depends. They hate the people that are stupid flamers and spammers that go out of their way to ruin other people's good times *cough*mithrandir*cough* sorry, I had something stuck in my throat. If you're a good fan, that has decent, mature, RELATIVE things to say to other good fans, they give you quite a bit of respect. If you're a lazy person that says illiterate things, they don't like you that much, but if you're still a fan, they give you a decent amount of respect. If you're a great fan, that helps other people have a good time on their forums, creating topics that people will enjoy talking about, and posting very intelligable replies, they hold you in high regards. If you're a stupid person that's as bad as the people that flame and spam, by getting into insult contests with the flamers, putting up topics like "don't you hate *place spammer's name here*?", but still are a fan, they don't like you that much, but give you a little respect.

So, basicaly, if you are intelligent, have the good common sense to say things that people can and will want to read, are a good fan, and don't feed the trolls, they respect you.

Bungie has like NO F**king respect for us, and why should they, if I made succesful video games like Halo, I wouldnt give a damn about the fans. Theyre sitting behind a desk, observing us douchers argue about how Halo and Marathon are connected, and they probably whack off to it.

But I think they rule, why? Because evil rules and I laugh at some of you douchers too... but the whacking off is a bit to far... my man seed is reserved for viking chicks :)

Calm down ToA... I thik you've got it quite the wrong way around! If I was developing games I'd respect those who played it and enjoyed it, because they are the reason I can keep working and making money. Plus, its a great feeling to see something you've created bringing joy to so many people... They aren't evil, and quite frankly, your post should be snipped. if you want to express an opinion, you're welcome to do so, but not abuse people you don't even know!
