I don't buy those games, not for $60. They said before they weren't looking at a $60 price tag, and when they announced it they justified it by the Reach Beta, H3MM and maps. That's just stupid.
This is exactly the reason that the new price bothers me. It was originally a twenty dollar expansion, but Microsoft said "Are you kidding? That's a full game!", which translates to "Are you kidding? We can charge full price because of the name!".
Everybody says that the new price is justified because of all of the Halo 3 maps being included. The problem with that is that the majority of the people buying ODST will have already bought those maps.
If you take the original twenty dollars that ODST was going to cost, add the price of the three already released downloadable maps, plus the price of the three unreleased ones, you get exactly the price tag that ODST now has.
So, no matter what they say about ODST becoming "more ambitious", we're really just being suckered into paying for something that we've already paid for.
It's just a shame that this cool little addition to Halo 3 has to be tarnished by Microsoft sticking it to us again.
Though, to be fair, we've kind of brought this on ourselves. How many times have any of us read on a forum (even right here in this very topic) how someone would gladly pay way more than the game is actually priced or worth?
What's Microsoft's incentive to not rip us off? They know that anything with "Halo" attached will sell, no matter what, so they might as well set the price higher.
