What are the Pros and Cons of both Halo 2 and 3, maybe Bungie could incorporate them into Reach?

Pros:
Halo 2:
* x4 plasmas and frags max, didn't have four kinds of grenades
*Maps that were 'fun' and liked more by the community
*Halo 2 clan system
*Wraith Boost
*Fast Hog
*Br/sniper shots were hitscan whereas in Halo 3, you have to lead them
*Beam Rifle's appearance on more maps
*Sword's infinite ammo
*map default changed on maps (midship)
*SMG's arguably more effective starting weapons
*Faster Pistol kills (even though less power)
*SMG range
*ALOT of options available (starting weapon)
*Glitches, superbounces
*Rockets home on

Halo 3
*Longer grenade throw
*Banshee Bomb
*DLC wasn't a necessity for online play (whereas halo 2, it was necessary for any online play except customs
*Sword trigger finger/B-button difference (sword duels)
*Nice upgrade on carbine
*Exp in playlists/ Exp to encourage quitters not to quit
*Infection gametype
*Forge
*Theatre/Save films
*Bungie favorites/File share
*Armour
*ODST-add-on
*Ban-hammer
*Skulls on/off option
*equiptment


Cons:
Halo 2:
*Grenade range
*players quit more often
*Hackers in higher levels of matchmaking & circle boosting


Halo 3:
*Elite models 'Downgraded' in reputation, and less armour permutations available
*-Recon (armour)-
*Game options, starting weapons, WTF
*Boosting
*Easy campaign
*Prowler < Spectre
*BR > every other weapon
*Rockets don't home on
*BR starts 90% of the time (from vetoing AR-starts) not in MLG games, other weapons not used
*Fuel rod, flame grenades, sentinel beam on in default/matchmaking
*50% of equiptment in matchmaking
*spawn killing on maps, spawn system tweaked? (blackout fixed some though, be thankful for that )
*melee system

Proud frenchie, elite fan, anthro artist not hellbent on yiff convention/pics/whatever, mature and intelligent forum guy, 4chaner, halo 2 lover and halo 3 hater.

pros H2 :
story (covenant side of the story ftw, damnit)
gameplay (glitching was ton of fun in custom)
wraith was ACTUALLY good
spectre
you could hit someone NOT standing still with a PP
BETTER MAPS. definitely better.
better melee (host would win, but that didn't matter. plus, melee + jump did more damage, etc).
better spawning system.
better soundtrack.
you could give yourself a handicap
buttom combos that would separate the noob from the pro
bloodgluch and beaver creek.
maps with hazards (train...)
no shield doors
good graphics (even today, it doesn't look too bad).

edit : ok, thought really hard. needler, respawning items and forge. that's all.

Armor Lock isn't overpowered. You just suck at Reach :)

Reach isn't bad, you're just a BK :)

Cons of Halo 2 and Halo 3
-Dual wielding
-Huge amounts of bullet magnetism
-Elites which became hunched over
-Melee lunge
-The nerfing of the pistol.

Halo 2 pros:
Harder Legendary and Heroic.
More consistent difficulty curve.
Story was decent, although not the best.
Arbiter had a cool story.
Less backtracking.
Fast paced gameplay.
New Weapons.
New Enemies.
Good multiplayer map designs.
Tons of fun new options
Good ost.

Halo 2 cons:
Characters had horrible art direction, and everything looks like plastic.
Tons of skinny levels.
Set pieces were small, and lacking in detail like those bland temples on Delta Halo.
Level pacing was horrible on some levels.
We are given a big new city in the E3 demo, but only one short set piece looks like it.
New A.I. moves get in the way. Enemies are slow, and shoot objects, climb occasionally.
Elite's don't strafe as much anymore.
New ally A.I. moves get in the way. They crouch walk in front of Hunter's for a beating.
Ally driving stinks. Allies shoot you with the rockets. etc.
Elite's are slower, and strafe less.
Elite's melee is based on range. Somehow they can kill in one melee hit if you get too close.
What is the point of the sword if they can kill in one melee?
Flood are in lesser numbers.
Flood are easier to dodge, and kill. Especially with headshots.
Infection forms dick around, don't trigger vibration anymore, and make a low -blam!- sound.
Carrier forms are slow and useless.
Brute's are bullet sponges that have a lock-on lunge when berserk.
Brute's don't have the same variety, and the variety they do have is barely noticeable.
Red Plasma Rifle? Come on? Why not just remove blue plasma rifles permanently?
Halo 2 Normal difficulty is too easy.
Using the actual rock songs from other bands in the game twice doesn't fit.
Boss Fights are mediocre.
Boosters.
Cheaters.
Hackers.
Standby.
Host Boot.
Forced Host.
Cheating was more rampant, before and after the banhammer.
Badly balanced gameplay and weapons pre-patch.
Overpowered BR post-patch. Mainly due to the fact that all the duals suck after balance.
Easy to escape multiplayer maps.
Hitbox problems pre-patch.
Spawn problems pre-patch.
The ability to hit the shoulder and obtain an assassination post patch after hitbox fix.
Elite's are hard to headshot from behind, and have bigger bodies easy to kill up close.
Elite's have a slight hitch in their running animation. Nothing too noticeable.
New lunge melee system is too quick, and the interrupt option leads to button glitches.
No more distinct melee animations with different speeds.
Melee speed is now reserved to how long till you can shoot again, button glitches screw it.
Grenades pre-patch have a long timer, low blast radius and cannot be thrown far.
Physics glitch prevents throwing grenades far when jumping pre-patch.
Weak melee pre-patch that takes 6 hits for most weapons. 2 hit leads to one hit bxb in v 1.1.
Weapons take less skill due to bullet magnetism and auto-aim.
Lock-on rockets are shoot and forget.
Missing options from Halo Combat Evolved like Race, and tag. Even more minor options.
Vehicles are useless with rockets, and overpowered without rockets.
You can just heal your shields, and the vehicle still lives as long as you are in it.
You can't melee people on turrets in the back. People on turrets have more life.
Invisible turrets after destroyed in pre-patch.
Plasma Pistol is a noob combo, and normal shooting is useless.
Arbiter's story ruins the Elite's ruthlessness.
Chief got the short end of the story stick. He is still just an emotionless soldier.
No use of rumble in cutscenes.
Cliff hanger ending.
Texture pop-in everywhere on the original Xbox during Halo 2 launch.
Lame and predictable Flood entrance that wasn't scary.
Sentinels are weak.

Cons - dual wielding, melee lune, invisible health, slow run speed, slow strafing, slow crouching, close range emphasis, spartan laser

basically id love halo reach to be closer to the halo 2 engine and physics then the halo 3. if it is 1 MM near anything halo 3 is im not buying it, and ive purchased halo since 2001 and pre ordered every halo related game after.

Lunge - decrease the damn superman lunge thx?
Melee system - one of the worst if not worse melee systems ive played with in any game. screw the double beatdown give the damn person who beat down first the beatdown. also bring back the halo 2 melee where you actually had to AIM whilst you beatdown or you missed, i dont want some noob looking in the sky and hitting me when im crouched.
pistol - bring back halo 1 pistol
battle rifle - this will OBVIOUSLY be in reach. halo 2 br plz not the random noob halo 3 br thx. i want to actually get outbrd by a person who hits all his shots, not because the spread made my shots miss or lag thx.
recoil on sniper - youre a FKN SPARTAN WHO CAN TURN OVER AN ELEPHANT (that big arse vehicle thing). youve got super strength and a small sniper has recoil? gtfo plz? spartans grip > recoil therefore there should be none.

and an EPIC campaign please. and bring back the halo 1 needler, not that 7 hit raype all needler. and rockets that lock on please!

Halo 3 pros:
Better weapon balance. Still flawed, but not as messed up as Halo 2 pre and post patch.
Less major glitches.
New options.
New enemies.
New weapons.
New maps.
Different characters for co-op.
Brute's are more varied.
New A.I. Running into objects isn't as bad.
Levels are better. Art design for the levels is better.
Cheating isn't as big a problem.
Enemies look cooler.
Vehicles look cooler.
Forge.
Saved Films.
Arcade with skulls.
Expansion packs.
Good support like removing shield doors officially, lowering maulers, tweaking melee etc.
Grenades aren't weak like in pre-patch Halo 2, or as spamtastic as post patch with 4 frags.
Better single player maps that use the open sandbox designs of Halo CE with tons of gear.

Halo 3 cons:
Weapons are too close range, and promote rushing and close combat too much.
Halo's open sight lines in maps doesn't mix with the short range weapons.
Close range weapons slows down gameplay on big maps.
Players aren't taught how to burst fire, or lead to make up for Halo 2's easier gameplay.
Burst firing automatic weapons is slow and not as effective as it should be.
Sticky aim doesn't follow as far, but it's sticks to player stronger, and fails when players run by.
Shotgun has a slight range advantage over the Sword, but Sword is put as a power weapon.
Too many shotgun weapons on the maps sometimes. Fixed after maulers and ammo fix.
Maps are a convoluted mix of symmetrical and asymmetrical, but not mathematically exact.
These new hybrids don't have well placed weapons so one side gets to laser a little quicker.
The geometry math doesn't make up for jumping, high ground, and low ground advantages.
Maps geometry is over done and messes with grenade bouncing. Especially in Foundry.
Foundry maps without the fusion glitch lack flow due to the geometry convolution.
Some areas on maps promote cheap camping spots that aren't easy to grenade, jump, or turn.
Equipment jump glitch. Some equipment were not properly balanced.
Radar Jammer is useless. Flare should work like flashbang, but goes through walls at times.
You can use other unbalanced weapons like Sentinel Beam, but not the Sentinel turret?
Weapons that still haven't been balanced properly for multiplayer like Hornet, or Fuel Rod.
Vehicles that are like tanks and only die from anti-vehicle weapons. It's still either or.
Players have more life when in vehicles.
Warthog is overpowered.
Wraith is underpowered and lag inducing compared to other vehicles.
Packet loss and lag for people of average broadband connection status.
Prowler is cool, and controls better than Spectre, but the plasma gun is hard to use.
Plasma Pistol is equipment. Literally. Normal shooting capabilities are still useless.
Neelder is hit or miss. Literally. It's either an overpowered weapon of doom or a miss.
Melee lunge is a little too forgiving. Simultaneous gap still too big leading to double beatdown.
Melee is missing the cool physics additions like a moving melee, and jumping melee.
New Melee system should not be in system link or normal split-screen.
You can still hit the shoulder for a beatdown.
No sentinel enforcers.
Flood are horribly balanced. Carrier forms are even more useless. Infection just necro about.
Combat forms are easier with melees. Tank forms are easy to beat. Range forms are hard.
Difficulty curve is horrible. Floodgate is the easiest map; Cortana is the hardest.
Normal is still too easy.
Story is convoluted and badly paced. Still no character development that makes you care.
Missing options like more balls for multi-oddball, and starting weapons.
Spawn system stinks. Squad spawn system puts you into combat at wrong times.
Long respawns make spawn system worse. By the time you spawn enemies might be near.
You can shoot through Elite's necks.
A few maps still have exploits.
Still boosters, hackers, but not as bad.
Small glitches in options like touch return. Invincible vehicles. Saved Films with friends.
That annoying can't find servers glitch when you connect to Live after starting Halo 3.
Xbox 360's custom content limit.
Music is too soft. Weapons sound compressed. Makes them sound like airsoft guns.
Shortest campaign.
Some backtracking like Floodgate, or the end of Cortana. Would have liked to see a hangar.
Weird lines like "...too war." or "I'll beat the profits shield like his meat."
Brute's are slow, and stand still too much.
Not enough new scenarios.
Not enough room in the campaign for everything. We don't get dedicated use of banshees. :{
Modded controllers are abused these days.
Strafe speed, running speed, and things are too slow.
