Halo 3 pros:
Better weapon balance. Still flawed, but not as messed up as Halo 2 pre and post patch.
Less major glitches.
New options.
New enemies.
New weapons.
New maps.
Different characters for co-op.
Brute's are more varied.
New A.I. Running into objects isn't as bad.
Levels are better. Art design for the levels is better.
Cheating isn't as big a problem.
Enemies look cooler.
Vehicles look cooler.
Forge.
Saved Films.
Arcade with skulls.
Expansion packs.
Good support like removing shield doors officially, lowering maulers, tweaking melee etc.
Grenades aren't weak like in pre-patch Halo 2, or as spamtastic as post patch with 4 frags.
Better single player maps that use the open sandbox designs of Halo CE with tons of gear.
Halo 3 cons:
Weapons are too close range, and promote rushing and close combat too much.
Halo's open sight lines in maps doesn't mix with the short range weapons.
Close range weapons slows down gameplay on big maps.
Players aren't taught how to burst fire, or lead to make up for Halo 2's easier gameplay.
Burst firing automatic weapons is slow and not as effective as it should be.
Sticky aim doesn't follow as far, but it's sticks to player stronger, and fails when players run by.
Shotgun has a slight range advantage over the Sword, but Sword is put as a power weapon.
Too many shotgun weapons on the maps sometimes. Fixed after maulers and ammo fix.
Maps are a convoluted mix of symmetrical and asymmetrical, but not mathematically exact.
These new hybrids don't have well placed weapons so one side gets to laser a little quicker.
The geometry math doesn't make up for jumping, high ground, and low ground advantages.
Maps geometry is over done and messes with grenade bouncing. Especially in Foundry.
Foundry maps without the fusion glitch lack flow due to the geometry convolution.
Some areas on maps promote cheap camping spots that aren't easy to grenade, jump, or turn.
Equipment jump glitch. Some equipment were not properly balanced.
Radar Jammer is useless. Flare should work like flashbang, but goes through walls at times.
You can use other unbalanced weapons like Sentinel Beam, but not the Sentinel turret?
Weapons that still haven't been balanced properly for multiplayer like Hornet, or Fuel Rod.
Vehicles that are like tanks and only die from anti-vehicle weapons. It's still either or.
Players have more life when in vehicles.
Warthog is overpowered.
Wraith is underpowered and lag inducing compared to other vehicles.
Packet loss and lag for people of average broadband connection status.
Prowler is cool, and controls better than Spectre, but the plasma gun is hard to use.
Plasma Pistol is equipment. Literally. Normal shooting capabilities are still useless.
Neelder is hit or miss. Literally. It's either an overpowered weapon of doom or a miss.
Melee lunge is a little too forgiving. Simultaneous gap still too big leading to double beatdown.
Melee is missing the cool physics additions like a moving melee, and jumping melee.
New Melee system should not be in system link or normal split-screen.
You can still hit the shoulder for a beatdown.
No sentinel enforcers.
Flood are horribly balanced. Carrier forms are even more useless. Infection just necro about.
Combat forms are easier with melees. Tank forms are easy to beat. Range forms are hard.
Difficulty curve is horrible. Floodgate is the easiest map; Cortana is the hardest.
Normal is still too easy.
Story is convoluted and badly paced. Still no character development that makes you care.
Missing options like more balls for multi-oddball, and starting weapons.
Spawn system stinks. Squad spawn system puts you into combat at wrong times.
Long respawns make spawn system worse. By the time you spawn enemies might be near.
You can shoot through Elite's necks.
A few maps still have exploits.
Still boosters, hackers, but not as bad.
Small glitches in options like touch return. Invincible vehicles. Saved Films with friends.
That annoying can't find servers glitch when you connect to Live after starting Halo 3.
Xbox 360's custom content limit.
Music is too soft. Weapons sound compressed. Makes them sound like airsoft guns.
Shortest campaign.
Some backtracking like Floodgate, or the end of Cortana. Would have liked to see a hangar.
Weird lines like "...too war." or "I'll beat the profits shield like his meat."
Brute's are slow, and stand still too much.
Not enough new scenarios.
Not enough room in the campaign for everything. We don't get dedicated use of banshees. :{
Modded controllers are abused these days.
Strafe speed, running speed, and things are too slow.
