while I think it's just for gameplay reasons, I'm gonna try to put logic into the situation.

You can detach a turret because the base is only loosly connected to the turret itself. You can hold it because, using both hands, you can balance it right. You sacrifice speed too.

But with dual wielding, you can only use one hand per weapon. Many dual wieldable covenant weapons are too large for a marine to hold with one hand. Ones like the SMG have too much recoil to dual wield.

Bingo!

OP, don't read too much into it.

the only thing i don't like is when you get shot the screen turns all red (call of duty anyone?) and it's really annoying when you can't see very well when you have red all over your screen.

correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure games were using a system like that long before call of duty. Goldeneye for sure and probably before that.

as far as duel weilding goes, I think it is part of making the ODST feel different than a Spartan. Duel weilding always leads to charging headfirst towards you enemy, with less precision. With the new pistol and SMG, the player has more precise weapons to use. This makes it easier to approach things more tactically and at a slower, more deliberate pase.

Mythical Group

There is no greater catharsis than arguing on the Flood.

I don't honestly dual wield duals when I have them. Singular duals are very powerful.

It's better without duel-wielding. Every weapon will actually feel like a weapon.

Disregard wenches.
Acquire currency.

Disregard courtesans, acquire Florins.

I think they took the duel wielding out because the SMG and Auto-Mag now have scopes, which could make the gameplay strange as you would be able to scope in with a plasma rifle. 0.o

Well, you can only detach Turrets and whatever else in Firefight, because Campaign is focused on being accurate to the strength, Firefight is just plain fun. And if you still argue I'll say what people are saying about if you could hold two weapon's it would be inaccurate if it was possible.

The one bad thing about ODST is that you can detatch and carry around a turret but you can't dual weild
surely the turret has to be heavier than two weapons put together
i'm not saying that in ODST you have to dual weild i'm just saying that you should be able to dual weild if you can carry around a turret
But apart from that ODST looks amazing and I can't wait for it to be released
Feel free to post your views and opinions
and say what you think is good or bad about Halo 3:ODST.

An ODST can not dual-weild do to only 1 hand on each gun if an ODST could, and since ODST do not have the training Spartans do, they can't dual-weild, the turrets however can be used because an ODST can use both hands to carry it and ODSTs are stronger than Marines thus alowing them to do some things Spartans can do.
