What I mean by taking cover is not just crouching behind a warthog, but also like how you would do it in Gears of War, you could jump over it, take cover behind it and not worry about being shot and shot at the same time. Also to do it in 1st person too.

What about the inbred house potatoes?!

.

If you stayed in first person while doing it, it would be cool.

A love for games and a love for writing.

I have wanted this for some time.
When you take cover though you STAY in first person kind of like Killzone I believe. The only thing being on the cover does for you is allow you to hide from enemy fire. It does not aid in camping since it doesn't go into 3rd person like in Rainbow six Vegas.

To sum it up:
Going into cover would only help with avoiding fire and shooting over cover easily. It would not help camping by going into third person view.

Taking cover that actually prevents you from being hurt is not realistic. Taking cover in Halo has always been about biding time, since you know that no cover lasts forever. If you find a safe spot long enough to recharge your shields then you found good cover. GoW cover system would make Halo something it is not.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

If you want to take cover, stand next to a wall, or crouch behind something. If they added a cover system nobody would use it, because the transition from just STANDING there, to moving and firing would be faster and better. Also, shields regenerate much faster than health in Gears, making a Gears style cover system stupid.

No, for all the stated reasons plus it would slow down gameplay. And how do you use a plasma sword from cover?

  • 07.28.2009 12:59 PM PDT

maybe in sp. But a cover system wouldn't work well in mp.

Go play GoW then. The reason why people play Halo is because it's not like GoW2. Why would you make it look more like Gow? Halo would lose it's origninality..

Taking cover behind things is pretty realistic if you think about it, thats what your trained to do when your a soilder, like the soilders in iraq, it doesnt matter if you have a shield or not, its just being more realistic, not because i want it to be like GOW, and no u wouldnt use an energy sword if you were in cover because its not very smart and your most likely going to get killed so if u have an energy sword its just common sense dont go behind cover(unless you need to recharge your shields)

To all the people saying no, because it will slow down gameplay, how do you know? If I'm not mistaken Bungie said Halo: Reach will be "different". We have no idea how the gameplay will be. I say if there is, Make sure it's first person like killzone 2.

  • 07.28.2009 4:10 PM PDT

Why would we need a covering system? We already have one, its called crouch.

  • 07.28.2009 4:28 PM PDT

I'll kill you with a pistol.

What if your stuck in cover and they threw a plasma grenade at you?

  • 07.28.2009 4:31 PM PDT

I am part of a gaming group that is based off of the Elites, and Covenant Army. If you are a fan of Elites, message me. We have a group with good talent as well. We have a ranking system that works,(Do not confuse with stupid clan systems). It is used to show dedicated members.

PS: Don't even bother unless you are 13 or older.

NO WAY, in GOW people had a lot of health, so right as they got shot they would take cover and always survive. With the amount of damage you can take, then people would take cover the whole match

You guys why does it matter if you have shields or not your still goin to get hit and evently die but if youve play halo 3 in multiplayer even though you have a shield people are goin to shoot you and i dont know if you noticed but your shields go down pretty fast when your being shot at, and i mean it goes down by chunks. Why should Halo: Reach be any different
